Today is our work Christmas party.
We haven't had one for the past two years due to Covid so it is nice that we can finally have one again.
We always have it in the city at the River Cree casino, dinner and a dance and we get a hotel room for the night.
Jason is working so he won't be able to go with me - he doesn't care for them that much anyway so he wasn't that disappointed.
My plan is to go to the dinner and visit for a bit but then to hit the hay kind of early then head out early tomorrow morning to get some Christmas shopping done.
I worked until about noon then I headed home, packed my stuff and headed in.
I didn't have anything to wear so I stopped at Ricki's to look for an outfit.
I got some dress pants which I needed anyway then two tops.
One was a black sweater that says Joy on it and the other was a sparkly black turtleneck (I love turtlenecks).
I also got a snowflake necklace, some cute earrings that say Ho Ho Ho and some stack bracelets.
Drinks were at 6 and dinner was at 7 and it was around 4:30 when I got to the casino so I decided to check at the shops nearby to see if there was a salon that I could maybe get into to get my hair straightened/curled.
I was lucky, the spot I found was able to get me right in.
They even covered my grey (just in my part line) with this temporary thing that kind of looked like a bingo dobber but it did the trick.
It didn't take that long either so I think I was checking in at the casino by 5pm.
Karl and Nadine got there right when I did so we requested to be on the same floor.
I got ready - I wanted to wear the sweater but the sparkly top was more festive so that's what I went with.
I headed downstairs a bit early so went into the casino and gambled 20 bucks, I didn't win a thing.
I didn't want to spend any more either so I headed into the dinner, it was after 6 by then.
It was nice to see everyone all dressed up.
Blair brought his sister Jan with him - she's so much fun.
Nadine and Karl - she figured they had to kiss for the picture - think she caught Karl off guard.
Ha ha.

I wanted to go make my rounds and see everyone that I know, plus I like to get pictures of everyone and figured I'd do that now before everyone got all drunk and sweaty.
So these are a bunch of my co-workers - I do think I work with a great bunch of people.
Jamie and his wife.
Jamie is an electrician but has been working in our office for the last few months setting the field up for the transition to Maximo.
Dustin and his wife Lindsay - this was his first year coming to the Christmas party - usually it always falls on his weekend to work but he's working a 4 and 3 shift now.
He's an electrician but recently moved into the office from the field and he works in St Albert office so we don't see much of him anymore.
Very nice human!
Scott Jevne and his wife.
Scott recently changed to hourly and moved from the field into the office.
He's an instrument guy - super smart and super nice.
One of our assistant foreman Tim and his wife Evelyn.
Braeden is an engineer that works in our St Albert office.
I don't really know him, just met him a few times.
This guy works in our St Albert office too - I don't know him but I didn't want to leave him out of the picture taking.
Then on to the next table.
Shennelle and her husband Jody who actually works for us as well.
Dan Stith and his wife - he is a consultant in our area.
Dan seems like a pretty nice guy - I don't have a lot of interaction with him as he mainly works out in the field.

He's also a really nice guy, he's mainly in the field so I don't interact with him much either.
Stephen Freckleton and his wife Marty.
Stephen is our warehouse guy and he's also a very nice guy.
The party combined a bunch of districts so there was Edson, Slave Lake and St Albert folks there which was nice because I got to see my old boss Rose.
She came with her sister and they were having a great time which was nice to see.
Ran into our old superintendent Randie Brown too.
I spoke with his wife Charlene also (this isn't her), I meant to go back and get a picture of them together but never did.
This is Shawna, her husband Robin was a lead in our field but recently transferred to Edson where he accepted an assistant foreman position.
Denis and Joanne.
Denis is a mechanic out in our field - He loves to cook.
They are both nice.
Karlie and her husband Cody.
She used to be the safety consultant in our area but was transferred to Slave Lake area so I hadn't seen her for a long time.
It was nice to see her and it was my first time meeting Cody.
Larry and his wife Colleen.
Larry is a consultant for us in Swan Hills and he is one of the nicest human beings you would ever have the chance to meet.
Very generous and kind, his wife is very nice as well.
Now over to the Operator table.
These guys all work out in the field so I don't see them much, just as whatever social functions or meetings go on with work over the years.
They are all nice guys.
This is Rodger and his gal, Suzanne.
Ron just started with us recently, this is he and his wife Carla who I've known for sometime.
Her mom and my mom are good friends.
Craig and his wife Samantha.
Clayton and his wife Tiffany.
They are both runners.
Tiffany contracted covid and was really sick for a really long time but she's finally on the mend and looking like her old self.
Chase (on the right) is one of our mechanics, he's also been working in the office recently on the Maximo transition so I've been seeing more of him.
I'm not sure who the fellow on the left is but of course couldn't just leave him out of the picture.
Bob (our foreman) and his wife Tracy - I might sound like a broken record here but he is such a nice man.
I really think a lot of him.
Had to get a picture of the office girls, just Shennelle and I to represent.
There used to be a whole slew of us.
I was so disgusted with myself when I saw this picture, it was full length but I cropped it.
I've really been putting weight back on and I am feeling it.
This picture I look it too.
It is such a struggle.
One last selfie with Nadine and Karl.
The dinner was ok, we had ham, turkey and prime rib (it was tough).
The desserts were just ok.
We sat in the dance until around 10 pm then I took Nadine for a smoke, dropped her off at her room and went back to the casino by myself to try my luck again.
I threw another 20 bucks in the machine and I was doing ok, I just make minimum bets so the chances of me winning big are slim but as long as I win a little and get to play for a bit I'm ok with that.
This guy did sit down and start talking to me, he made his way around to asking if I'd be interested in going back to his room and having sex with him for money.
I obviously declined - I was kind of flabbergasted actually.
I've been hit on before but never like that.
He told me that I did look pretty vanilla, ha ha.
He just stayed there and kept talking and talking and I was starting to feel uncomfortable and hoped that someone I knew would walk by so I could claim them as my husband.
I don't know why I just didn't tell him to F@$# Off but I didn't want to be rude or escalate anything.
Eventually he did leave so I cashed out my money ( I was right back at 20 bucks) and headed back to my room.
Once there, I worked on a bit of a shopping list for tomorrow - I find it much easier to shop if I have ideas in mind.
