A Day With Josh In Canmore (Oct.17, 2021)

Jason was looking at the weather report yesterday and today was supposed to be a gorgeous day so we decided to stay another night and take advantage of it.

We only had our condo booked until today so he booked a room at another spot for the night tonight.

We had to check out of our condo today by 11 am so we headed out early to get our runs in.

We ran on a different trail today, one that runs along the river, we found it yesterday when we were out on our bikes.
We ran separately but met up at the end to walk back to the condo together so I snapped a picture of Jason.

And he took one of me.

I had to stop a little short of 5k because I had to use the washroom but luckily there was one right there where we finished up so I didn't have to be uncomfortable the whole walk home.

The exercise details.

My average pace was up slightly (that last km was rough because of having to go to the washroom) but only just in the 7's so not too bad.

We went back to the room, changed and packed up then loaded everything into the car.
We can't check into the new place until 4pm so we figured we found a place to park the car until then and just headed out to look at a few shops and grab some breakfast.

We found another little coffee shop - they have so many of them here, and I got myself a mocha today.
So fancy!

They had a chicken hand pie that had jalapenos in it so Jason had to try that out.
I had a bite, it was pretty good.

We had a shrimp ring in our room that we finished off this morning so I kind of considered that my breakfast but I did still get myself a treat.

Citrus cheesecake.

I love citrus and I love cheesecake so it seemed like a win win to me.
It was super good - tart and sweet at the same time, just the way I like.

After we ate, we just walked around town a bit to check out the shops.
We'd invited Josh to spend the day with us and he'd called to say that he would like to if we could drive him home to Cochrane later on in the day.
Of course we said we would so we just stuck around town until his mom dropped off to us.

We walked by this store that had almond croissants and I just had to try one.
They were sold in boxes of 3 but I didn't think there would be any trouble in getting them all eaten.

Once Bonnie dropped Josh off, we found a bike rental place and rented a bike for him for the day.
Then he and I and Jason set off to do some biking.

Josh wanted to go fast so I told he and Jason to go ahead and do their thing so they could go as fast as they wanted without having to worry about waiting for me.

It was good for me too because I was able to just take my time and not feel like I was trying to rush to keep caught up.

I came across this really nice play park - what a view for a park.

Those mountains in the background are so gorgeous.
We've been lucky this whole trip that there have been barely any clouds so we've been able to see them clearly all weekend.

This is the path that runs along the river that we discovered the other day.

There is the river.

It is just so dang pretty here.

The water is super clear.

It's hard to see but it's the same clear blue color as the water up in Jasper which makes sense as we are in the mountains.

Trails by the river in Canmore - Can you say BEAUTIFUL?

I was a little nervous because there were a few of these signs around on the trails but there were lots of other people out using the trails too so I figured I was pretty safe.

I took this picture from one of the bridges that I crossed.

From the same bridge but just looking in the other direction.

The sun was shining right in my eyes but no way I'm going to complain about that.

Just me, my bike, the river and the mountains!

Another bridge crossing over the river.

Honestly, I can't get enough of these views.

I met back up with Josh and Jason after an hour of biking on my own.

There I am.

We set off to do a bit more biking - we had the bike until 4:30 so figured we'd take advantage.
We decided to go for something to eat and found this place called the Iron Goat.
It was a little ways away but Jason just put on his GPS for directions and off we went.

It ended up being a lot of uphill biking and it was hard but I did it!

It had a really nice patio with a great view of the mountains but it was full so we couldn't eat out there, unless we wanted to wait an hour for a table but we didn't want to.

The windows on the inside were huge so we still had a pretty good view of the mountains anyway.

It was a really nice place inside - very big.
Love all the posts and beams.

Josh and Jason.

We ordered the Ahi Tuna and Wonton Nachos and they were delicious.

Jason ordered the Okanogan pizza which had pear, blue cheese, pesto, pickled red onions, candied walnuts and balsamic drizzle.

I ordered the burger and they had lobster mashed potatoes so you know I had to try those.

Unfortunately, it wasn't real lobster, it was imitation - I hate when they do that.
If it isn't lobster, they shouldn't say that it is.
It was disappointing but it saved me some calories I guess because I didn't eat them.

Caught Jason mid bite.

We had to try dessert.
Jason got the peach cream cheese dessert, I got a Saskatoon berry crumble which had barely any crumble.
I didn't really like it so Jason and I ended up switching desserts.

Josh got the chocolate mousse and he said it was pretty good.
After we ate, it was pretty much time to return the bike so we headed back downtown to do that.

We biked over 17k today all in all - not to shabby.

The exercise details.

After we dropped the bikes off, we just walked around town a bit.
It was nice because it gave me a chance to take pictures of some of the things I've been seeing around town but was either running by, biking by or driving by so couldn't really get good pictures of.

I liked this mural of the little snowman.

There was a whole wall of flying pigs but this one 'resting' on the bricks was my favorite.

This kind of looked like a weather vane at the top of this post - I liked the canoe on it.

We saw some more gorgeous homes.

These were the grounds around the hotel that Mark & Crystal had stayed in.

I know Jason was so happy to be able to spend the day with Josh and so was I.

More bear signs.

The back of the hotel.

Wow, check out that home.

Seriously, these homes are amazing.

This one has more modern lines which isn't my taste per say but I do like it.

Another shot of the three sisters.

I love that yellow tree just popping out against all the others.

We just happened upon this truck that was covered in artificial turf.
It belonged to a landscaping company of course.

Pretty cool.

Another gorgeous home.

Apparently Canmore is over run with rabbits and we did see several bunnies while we were here, a few just on our walk this afternoon, like this little cutie.

I liked this arbour - the shape of it was interesting.

Jason isn't a short guy and Josh looks to be about a full foot taller than him.
I love this picture.

We walked by a park and Jason happened to notice this little elf figure on the trunk of a tree.

Then we noticed another little figure on another tree.

And another.

And another.

We also saw a bunny.

They were everywhere, they were just small so you didn't see them all right away, you kind of had to look for them.

Another one.

And another.

This one was right on the top of a stump.
We probably walked around for about an hour - it was really nice.

I really wanted an ice cream so we went to the Beavertails store and got one.
I got moose tracks and mango and it hit the spot!

We sat outside of the store on a bench and ate our ice creams.
It was around 6:30 by this time so we figured we better get on the road and get Josh home.
Cochrane is an hours drive from Canmore.

When we got there, Josh took Jason for a drive in his car and I talked to Bonnie for a bit until they got back.

On the way back to Canmore, Jason and I stopped at a casino about 20 minutes from Canmore.
I lost all my money immediately, it was horrible.
I didn't win at all.
I don't mind when I lose my money if I can at least play on it for a bit but I think I was done in like 10 minutes.

Jason didn't fair much better so we were back on the road pretty quickly.

When we got back to Canmore, we had to check into our new room.
It was a condo too, more like a hotel condo and much smaller but still nice and with everything we needed.
I'd stay there again.

We had a hard time finding a place that was open to get some supper by the time we were ready so we ended up going to Panago and ordering a couple of pizzas.
We had the New York Deli and the Phili Cheesesteak.
They were actually pretty good.

There is a new book coming out in the Outlander series and I am so excited!
It's been years since the last one.

Ha ha!
I actually like my job and would work overtime if I could (I'm not eligible) but this still made me laugh.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Canmore and wish we could stay longer but I know for certain that we'll be back!

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
