Groovy Girl, Biking in Devon and Phalika Thai (May 27, 2023)

Had a bit of a sleep in this morning.

Jason got this picture of Little Miss and I just as we were waking up.

Got her all dressed in her groovy new outfit that Papa picked out for her.

She let me do her hair too and Papa cooked her up some bacon for breakfast.
She's a big bacon fan, so am I.

Then Mom came and picked her up to go yard sale shopping with Crystal and Zepplyn.

Since it was still early in the day, Jason and I decided to head to the city for the night and do some bike riding in Devon.
We've heard they have nice trails and I've always wanted to check them out.
We pass over this bridge all the time but I've never actually come down here by the river.

It's quite nice.
There is a boat launch and there were a bunch of people actually swimming in the river.

Jason and I.

I wouldn't have thought you could swim here but it's nice and shallow and calm in a lot of spots.

I didn't realize it was going to be so hot today and I wore jean capris.
If I'd had something else on that would have dried faster I think I would have jumped right into the river myself.

A lot of these pictures are Jason's - he always notices interesting things.
My phone was in my pack on the back of the bike so it wasn't easily accessible.

Pretty flowers in bloom.

There really were a lot of nice, well groomed trails.
This was down by the river.
We biked down there for a bit then decided to take the bikes up to the top part of town.

This is from the top looking back to where we'd just come from.
It was really steep and super hard - and I was just walking my bike, there was no way I could have ridden it up there.

Jason rode his up though - so he had some time to take some pictures while he was waiting for me.

There are more trails in the town of Devon and they take you back by the river too.

I love anytime we get to do something and we have a view of the water.

We came upon this campground and it had some trails in it so we started on one to check it out.

It wound up and around and I had to get off and push my bike several times.

Again Jason was able to ride his up so he had to stop and wait for me a few times.

So he had time to look around and take in the beauty of nature.

It was rough going in a couple spots but I made it to the top eventually.

Jason noticed this painted on a concrete block - he's so observant.

We actually climbed quite high.

At the top we found another trail so we just followed it and it had a few spots along it where you could look out at the river.

It kind of came toward us.

Then did a complete u-turn and went back the other way.
It was a gorgeous view.

We happened upon a set of stairs so we decided to walk down them to see where they led.

More pretty flowers.

The stairs didn't lead to anything really, just down to the bottom and then they abruptly ended.

This was the view at the bottom.

I guess if nothing it was a good workout.

Posing.

Then what goes down must come back up.
I decided to count the stairs on the way back to see how many there were - 360.
I wanted to make it an even 400 so I went back part ways and came up enough to push me over the 400 stairs mark.

All in all we biked about 17k.

My Fitbit died so I don't know the exact total that I did and this is from Jason's garmin so I did close to this, but I walked some of it.

On the way back to the car I noticed an ice cream place so we stopped and treated ourselves.

I had a chocolate mocha one with nuts in it - so good.

There happened to be a Thai place right next door, Phalika's, and they were closing soon so we decided to go in and have supper there.

I got the Basil Stir Fry with Pork.

It was a ground up pork which I really liked and the dish was really good.
I had coconut rice with it and it was the best coconut rice that I have ever had.

Jason had a curry and it was really good as well.

They had sticky rice and mango which we love so we got that for dessert and it was also delicious.

I think we will be back here for sure.

We biked back down to the car then decided to head to the casino to try out our luck.

There was a carnival going on in the back of the casino in the parking lot.

I'm not into rides that much anymore but if I did, the ferris wheel would be about my speed.

Neither of us were lucky in the casino - I lost 20 bucks and that was all I was willing to spend so we left there and headed to our hotel.
We decided to stay at our recent favorite, Coast downtown.
They have bidet toilets - I don't care about the bidet part but they have heated seats which I love!

We went for a walk and ended up at Northern Chicken.

Jason ordered a Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and some Mac & Cheese.
He said there Mac and Cheese was pretty good.
I ordered their biscuit and some chicken tenders.

The tenders were good and the biscuit was gigantic - I don't know why I didn't take a picture.
All it came with was a bowl of melted butter though which I thought was weird.
I would have preferred actual butter and maybe some jam.

I couldn't eat much of it anyway so I took it home with me and tomorrow when I get home I'll have it with butter and jam.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
