Cream Me Ice Cream, Arepas, Vegas Loop, Fuku Burger, Lorenzi Park and Neilsen's Frozen Custard (Apr.16, 2023)

Jason went for a 21k run today.

I just wanted to try to do 5.

I headed toward Fremont again.

It felt really hard to get my breathing under control but once I did, the running felt much better.

I ran right to the Plaza which was 3k then I paused my Fitbit long enough to pop in and use the restroom then I ran through the Arts District back to the The Strat.

It ended up being 6k overall and I felt really good about that.

The exercise details.

My average pace and splits.

It was a bit high but that's ok - still feel good about getting the run in.

I got myself a vanilla cold brew from Starbucks then had a shower and got ready while I was waiting for Jason to get back.

Once he did get back and get showered, we walked back over to The Arts District because I'd seen a market being set up when I ran by earlier so we figured we'd check it out.
There wasn't really anything there we were interested in but it was still fun to have a look around.

Plus we saw some more murals that we hadn't noticed before even though we've been there losts this time around.

These clocks look so cool, they almost look real.

We came across an ice cream shop so we decided to stop in and have a treat.

It was a cute place - I like all the pink.

Love these ice cream cone light fixtures too.

They had lots of ice cream desserts to chose from but I just went with ice cream.

I got two scoops, one of Rocky Road

The other of this Maui Waui Sherbet which sounded really good today.

It totally hit the spot.
Jason got a sundae - it also was delicious.

My Honey mid bite.
I have a knack for taking picture of people while they are eating.

Moi enjoying my ice cream.

We checked out a Vintage shop - it had some neat things in it - we didn't get anything.

More cool artwork.

After our ice cream - we decided to go get some breakfast/lunch and we decided to go the Arepas place.
We did eat there once a few years ago and it was really good.

We've always wanted to go back and today we finally did.

We tried a few things.

A Beef Arepa and a Chicken Empanada.

And then a Black Bean and Cheese Arepa.
The sauces they give you to go with them were so yummy.
We had a Passionfruit juice with our order and it was tasty that we each got another one to go.

We headed over to Resorts World and they had this punch buggy in the lobby all crunched into a ball - kind of neat.

We wanted to check out the Vegas Loop.

It's a series of tunnels underground in Vegas for Tesla's that shuttle people back and forth from Resorts World over to the Las Vegas Convention Center.
There are plans to expand but for now that's the only places that they go.

They are supposed to be just for people attending conventions but the folks that work in there said we could hop in for a ride just to check it out which was really nice of them and we took them up on it.

Driving in the Tesla Tunnels

The tunnels are just big enough for the Teslas and they lights in them change colors which is kind of cool.
There was a driver and he said that the Tesla's are actually capable of driving themselves but right now the laws and regulations don't allow it but he figures at some point in the future they will be driverless.

He let us off at what he called their version of Grand Central Station.

It kind of is like an underground Subway station.

It changes color in there too.

We took the escalator out and we were close to the monorail so we hopped on it and took it over the Sahara walked back over to the Strat and hopped in our car.

This has been our ride this week, a Jeep.

It's an ok vehicle - not the best or worst of what we've rented over the years.
Thankfully the parking is still free here at the Strat for guests however, they did just start charging everyone else for parking and they started using a new system just this week and they are having lots of issue with it.
It's kind of frustrating but not the end of the world.

Jason found a burger place that he wanted to try so we headed over to Fuku Burger.

It had kind of a funky vibe inside.

It was busy too.
When you place your order, they encourage you to use a cool name like James Bond or Jon Snow - whatever you like.
You can even spin a wheel to pick one or let them pick one for you then when your order is ready, they will call that name out - kind of fun.

The them was a combo of anime, marvel and cartoons.

LIke their neon sign.

There were panels just loaded with stickers and it was fun to sit and look at all of them - see what we could find hidden in amongst them.

There were three panels of them - this was the second.

This was the third.

The menu was full of interesting options.

I got the Buta Burger with a side of Jazz Fries and it was delicious.

Jason got the Fukuburger and the Fuku fries.
His burger was delicious too and those Fuku Fries were amazing - I wish I'd gotten them too.
To be honest - I ate a healthy amount of Jason's on him.

Doesn't that look messy and fantastic?

Yummy burgers at Fuku Burger.

It was such a nice day out we wanted o get out and enjoy it and not just sit in a casino so we found a park to go for a walk in.

It was called Lorenzi Park.

I think this is Lorenzi

There were some ducks - some were kind of strange looking - I'd never seen ducks like that before.

Like check this guy out - weird head.

Just from another angle but you can see how nice the park is.

There were quite a few of these guys strutting around.

We saw some little ducklings and there was a little boy there and he was so impressed.
He told us that it was the most amazing thing he'd ever seen and then we overheard him trying to convince his mom to let him take one of the little ducklings home, ha ha.

We spend about an hour in there just walking around and it was really nice.
There were lots of people there.

From ther we decided to to take a drive out to Red Rock Casino.
We did a little gambling then got us a treat.

The food court in Red Rock had some good options including Nielsen's Frozen Custard.

We had Concretes which are similar to what Dairy Queen calls a Blizzard.
I had Heath bar and pecans in mine and OMG - it was amazingly delicious - better than a blizzard by far.
Next time we are in Vegas I'll be back to Red Rock just to have one.

We also had a slice of pizza and I had some cinnamon pretzel bites from Aunt Annie's while we were there.

I put 40 bucks in the slots and too 20 out so not bad for an evening's entertainment.
Red Rock is a really nice casino - I think it would be a great place to stay if we ever came and brought the kids.

There is a movie theater, a pool, a kids play area, a bowling alley then lots of food options and shopping right across the street.

We headed back to The Strat - their new parking system wasn't working properly again.
What a schmozle!

We gamble a bit more before we headed to bed.
I put in 20 and took out 40 so basically I broke even for the day.

We didn't gamble long - we were tired - I mean Jason did just run a half marathon this morning.
We had to check in for our flight - we are heading home tomorrow.

I am kind of bummed, I'm going to miss the nice weather but I do miss Freya so I'm looking forward to getting home to see her.

We don't fly out until the evening so we still have pretty much a full day to spend here so that's nice.

Looking at Instagram and I saw this cute idea for a rock garden.

My Aunt Betty posted this oldie of my Aunt Janet who passed away years ago.
She was such a joy and I sure miss her and wish she were still with us.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
