Weigh In Day - Short but Tough 8k Run (Aug.1, 2022)

 Weigh in day.

I fell off the wagon a bit.

Well actually, that's a lie - I fell off the wagon completely.

I have not been following WW at all and I've been eating chips and cookies so I was expecting to be up on the scale and I was.

199.8 lbs today.

That's up .8 lbs from last weeks weigh in.

Not horrible but still way closer to 200 than I feel comfortable with.

However, that being said, while I don't want to just have an all out food fest, I don't think I'm really going to hunker down and follow WW completely until I get back from Iceland after the marathon.

When I do though - I am really going to give it my all - still want to get to my goal of half of my weight and I am determined to do it.

I worked today even though it was a  holiday - I'm going to take Friday off instead.

I worked from home though.

It was pretty slow.

I called it a day around 3:30 pm and headed out for my run.
I wasn't looking forward to it but I only had to run 8k today so that helped get me out the door.

I had a route planned in my head but ended up having to go back to the house around the 3 k mark to use the washroom so that put a bit of a wrench into things.
Not a big deal though, just finished it up in the center of town instead of the top.

My exercise details and average heart rate.

My average pace and splits.

The run felt super hard today, even harder than yesterday in fact.

I had a little bit of pain in my groin, not constant though so I just kept going.

It was so tough, I could tell that I was going super slow but I just didn't have it in me to go any faster.
I have another 8k run tomorrow and then Wednesday is rest day and I can't wait.

My video check in for today.

After my run, I got out the saw and cut up my pvc pipe to make a holder for my craft paint.

This is the third one I've made - I realized that they are all different sizes.

I still need to make a few more but I can't get pvc pipe here in town so I'll have to grab some next time we go to the city.

Once I get them all put together, I'm going to spray paint the outside white and I think it will be a great way to store/organize my paints.

I cooked up some fish and fries for supper.

Jason headed out for a bike ride when he got home from work - I was watching tv but I was falling asleep so I went to bed around 8:30.

Guess that run yesterday really tuckered me out.

Crystal posted some pictures from the weekend with the girls - looks like they had a fun time.

Freya potato sack racing.

Zepplyn in her potato sack.

Freya playing some other game - I think the idea was to catch a ball in that cup on the hard hat.

Looks like Zepplyn caught the ball.

Looks like a giant pool of bubbles/ foam.

Wonder how they made all those bubbles?

Ha ha - covered in foam - looks like that was fun.

Shaking it off.

Aww - our little spider-girl.
She's always doing the Spiderman pose - love it!

Ice cream treat.

Calaway Park.

Fishing for prizes.

I remember going on a water ride like this when I was a kid in EuropaPark and I just loved it.

Looks like Crystal and the two girls enjoyed it too.

This ride would not be for me but looks like they all had fun on it.
Glad they had a good weekend.
Can't wait to see Freya when she gets back.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

27km Run Under My Belt, Kinuso Costco and Ice Cream (July 31, 2022)

I had hoped to get out by around 7 am this morning so I set my alarm for 6 am.
I actually ended up waking up at 5 am and I considered getting up and heading out then but because I'd gone to bed so late I figured I really needed to get some extra rest before heading out.

So I stayed in bed until 7 then I got up and got ready to head out.
I had a banana and some of the Amino Energy drink and used the bathroom a couple times then hit the road at 7:40.

I only made it 1.7k in when I had to use the washroom.
I knew I was heading to the marina at the campground up the road but I wasn't sure how much further away it was or if it was even open yet so I had to turn around and go back to Bonnie's.
I couldn't run either, had to walk and that took me about 20 minutes.

But then I figured I'd be good to go for the rest of the run and I headed back out.

It had started raining so I grabbed my raincoat while I was there.

I ended up having to go to the washroom again once I got near the marina and luckily it was open so I was able to.

That got me a little worried though so instead of heading to the highway like I had originally planned, I ran through the campground.

I knew there were outhouses in there just in case and I did end up having to go one more time so I'm glad I did that.

Plus I got to run up by the lake and it was really pretty so I'm glad I went that way.

It was rainy and drizzly for most of the run but too warm for me to wear my raincoat - I only had it on for a couple minutes then I tied it around my waist for the rest of the run.

The misty weather was actually quite nice to run in.

I left the campground and headed to the highway.
It was hard but not impossible - I was saying mantras to myself and just telling myself the whole time that I just had to make it to the highway then once I turned around and headed back, I'd be on the home stretch.

I got to some train tracks just before the highway when I was right at 18k and wouldn't you know it, a train was going by so I had to stop for a few minutes to let it.
I took that opportunity to eat the gu pack I'd brought with me.
I'd also brought two granola bars but I'd eaten those around the 5k and 10k marks.

After the train, I ran to the highway then started heading back.

When I got to the 24.5k mark, the rain stopped and the sun came out full force.

It was nice but by 26k I was getting really hot and feeling very thirsty.

I hadn't brought anything to drink with me - not that I'd forgotten, I just didn't want to carry it.
That probably wasn't the best idea but thinking about water helped get me through that last km.

I was so proud of myself for getting it done.
I really needed that.

I think if I'd had water I could have even gone a few more km's.
Not 15 more but a few and I think that knowledge is really going to help me mentally in the marathon!

And also, I've now officially made it the taper section of the training plan - yeah!
Just completing this training plan will be a feat in itself!

The marathon is getting close now - just 20 days away.

27k run under my belt.
That's the longest I've run to date and it felt awesome to accomplish it.

My exercise details and average heart rate.
I did try to keep my pace very slow so not surprised to see that low heart rate.
I was more concerned about finishing the 27 k than trying to do it fast.

My average pace and splits.
I'm very pleased with these numbers.
These will likely be close to what I'll be able to do at the marathon.

I kept it to a slow pace on purpose so I could sustain it.

I took me 3 hours and 34 minutes to complete the run.
Then if you factor in the bathroom breaks and the walk I had to do to get to the washroom, I was out there for a total of 4 hours and 20 minutes - it was exactly noon when I got back to the lake lot.

So my goal for the marathon is to finish in under 6 hours and if I can run similar to these paces, I should be able to do that.

My check in video for today.

When I got back to the lake lot - they were making breakfast.
I changed out of my sweaty clothes (I was soaked through with sweat and rain) and had a sponge bath to clean up.
I'll have a bath later when I get home.
Then I had a coffee and my salad that I'd brought yesterday plus a slice of toast and some bacon.

Nadine dropped by after a bit she, Bonnie, Judy and I went to check out Kinuso Costco.
It's actually the dump - it's a super clean dump and they have a take it or leave it stall where people can drop off things they don't want but that are still good and anyone who comes in can go through it and take what they want.
I think it's a great idea - some stuff people throw away is still really good and it helps to keep things out of the land fill.
I wish our land fill would do it.

There wasn't much there today but I found a couple of old books that I liked the looks of...

and these parts from a croquet game.
Not sure what I'll do with them but I just thought they looked neat - I'll figure out something.

After our trip to 'Costco' Bonnie and Judy went for a quad ride with June and Andre and I headed over to Nadine's camper to help her with this sign that she is making.
She showed me all around her lot - she has hers set up really nicely as well.
Then we got to the sign.

She found this old headboard at Kinuso Costco and wants to make it into a Welcome sign.
We made a stencil for it but when she painted it and pulled the stencil off, it pulled off some of the paint.
So then we made another stencil but this time with permanent vinyl however, it was cheap vinyl and I didn't really have high hopes for it so I offered to come paint the 'Welcome' on free hand.
I'd brought all my tools with me, paint brushes, paint, painters tape, chalk and measuring tape.
I free handed the welcome and she was happy with it.
I offered to paint it in too but she insisted she would do it so I left her too it.

I headed back to Bonnie's but they were still out quadding so I packed up my stuff and headed home.
It was around 5:30 at that point and I wanted to get home and have a nice bath and be done before Jason got home from work.
And that's exactly what I did.

I was feeling stiff and achy from the run and I have a lot of chaffing going on around my bra line area, my panty line area and the top of my pants too of all places - it's really painful but I don't really know how to avoid it.

Jason made burgers at work today for the guys so he made one up for me and brought it home to me for my supper.
It was gigantic.
It was so good but I could only eat half of it.

Later in the evening, I got a craving for ice cream so went down and got ice creams.
I got two scoops which is really four scoops and she was super generous.
It was so big I knew I couldn't eat all of it, I ended up putting a quarter of it onto Jason's (she wasn't as generous with his) and then I still couldn't finish.
It was good though!

We headed to bed fairly early.
Tomorrow is a holiday but I'm going to work since Jason is working anyway and take next Friday off instead, it's the only Friday we don't get off in the summer but Jason is off that weekend so I figured having that day off would be better.

We think we may go to the city Thursday night to see a movie then do some shopping on Friday.
There are a lot of August birthdays in the family (Haylee, Freya, Alivia and Mel) so I'm hoping I can have a bbq on Sunday and do cake and stuff for everyone because we are going to be away in Iceland for 10 days and August is always so busy.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Back to Crafting and Lake Life (July 30, 2022)

I woke up early this morning and couldn't fall back asleep so I just got up.

I watched a couple episodes of Welcome to Plathville while I had my morning coffee.

I also watched some crafting YouTube videos and on one of them (Unicorn Dust Designs) she made this cute, easy reindeer and I had the stuff I needed to make a couple so I thought I'd give them a try.

I got a coat of paint on the parts, the round wood slices will be the noses and the blocks will be the heads.

I will need to go gather some sticks for the antlers but we are right in the bush here so that will be easy enough.

I had another 10k to run today.
I got ready to head outside but it was raining and windy and my belly was feeling a bit queasy (I haven't been eating the healthiest lately) so I decided to do my run on the treadmill instead.

I had to run super slow so it took me longer than it would have outside but it's done and that's the main thing.
One hour and 40 minutes to run 6.3 miles or 10k.

My check in video for today.

After my run, I had a nice hot bath then I got ready to head to the lake.

I'm spending the night at Bonnie's lake lot so I can have a visit but also so I can do my 27k run there tomorrow.

There is a long section of road that I can run on and it's pretty flat - I think it's about 12k so I can do an out and back plus a bit on the highway to make up the 27k that I need.

Lower altitude too which will be nice.

Nadine arrived there after I did and stopped by Bonnie's to visit for a couple hours in the afternoon.
Then I went with her to check out this sign she is making and to help her with it but instead we ended up going to the Kinuso Mercantile ( they have so much great stuff at that store) and to a yard sale that was going on in town.

I got a whole box of craft magazines (for free)

And a whole box of kids books again for free.
It was the end of the day and they didn't want to haul all that stuff back in so they insisted that we take it.
So score!
I guess going to a yard sale a the end of the day is a good time to go.

I brought a couple of left over burgers from last night for my supper.
It was nice to just kind of hang out - Bonnie and June have a beautiful spot there.

Their daughter Kayla came for the night, her boyfriend Mac came along as well so I got to meet him for the first time.
He seems like a nice fellow.

June's sister Judy and her fellow, Andre were also there for the weekend.

Nick and Belinda popped by for a visit too.
(The little guest house you can see in the background here is where I slept)

It's so relaxing there.

We spent the evening just hanging out and chatting - it was really nice.
There was game playing and smores - all the fun camp out things.

I had planned on going to be around 11 because I wanted to get up early and head out for my run but it was after 12:30 when I finally turned in.

Everyone was still up laughing and having a great time and I really hated to miss any of it but I knew I needed sleep.

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get to sleep as they were all right outside my door basically but I knew I had to try.

I heard a bit of laughter but that was it - I was out like a light in no time at all.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Desk Rethink and Craft Room Back Up and Running (July 29, 2022)

I got up this morning, made a coffee and watched the last couple episodes of Virgin River.

It was good - Now the wait will be on again for the next season.

I should have headed out for my run but I wanted to get to work on my craft room so I did that instead.

I brought the top part of the desk that Jason had built for me yesterday and put a coat of white paint on it so it was ready for me to screw the legs on this morning.

I did that then took it into the craft room to put on the lower portion and realized it was way too tall to work at.

I thought I had measured it all out and that it might be a bit higher than a normal desk but not too high to sit at - I was wrong.

So I was really frustrated - I've wanted to get this desk built for so long and I thought I was finally at the completion point but now I have to rethink it.

I can't really lower the bottom portion because I won't be able to sit at it then so I was stumped.

I called Jason to get his opinion and to vent a little if I'm being honest and he talked me down.

Said he would bring me home some 4x4's so we could make new legs and we'd make it work.

So that made me feel better.

I just left it for a bit and decided to get out and get my run done.

It was another gorgeous day out there.

I had to run 10k so I did a combo of the top of town and the center part of town - it's kind of been my new favorite route.

My exercise details and average heart rate.

My average pace and splits.

It felt really good to get it done.

My check in video for today.

After my run I had a bit of a cuddle with this fluffy guy.
He is such a cuddle bug.

Then I got back to my craft room.

After some thought, I decided that the one level would work and it's a little short but workable.

I took the whole top section apart and screwed the plywood from it directly onto the plywood on this section to make the top a bit thicker and more sturdy.

Then I had picked up a painting drop cloth to sew up for a skirt bottom for the desk.
I just hot glued it on and I like how it turned out.

I originally wanted the Cricut to be 'under' my work desk which is why I wanted the two layers but I think it will work well on the rolling cart where I have it now.

When I'm cutting a stencil, I can just pull it out from the wall to give it room to cut.

I got everything put back into the room and organized it all.

I had also originally wanted to put the desk on the wall to the right in this picture but I tried it where it is now and I like it much better, feels roomier.

I'm so happy that it is all complete and I can't wait to get back to crafting.

Well, just about complete anyway - I still have some pvc piping to cut up to make a holder for all my craft paint but that's just a minor thing.

I think I'll need to pick up a couple more pipes anyway in order to make it big enough to hold all of my paint.
I've really been in a crafty mood lately so I can't wait to get back at it.

Meanwhile - Crystal posted some pictures from their trip.
I love seeing what they are up to.

They went to a zoo - this is the girls getting to see an grizzly up close.

Awe - so cute.
An Auntie and her little niece.

Big smiles at supper.

Cool wooden bull dozer.

Petting an adorable calf.

Love the zebra print on the lawn tractor.

A wooden punch buggy - how cool is that!

I'd love to have one of these in my front yard - I'd fill it with flowers, kind of have them spilling out all over.- I think it would look so nice.

I'd picked up some ground beef for burgers and when Jason got home, he got them ready to cook and then headed out for a bike ride.

He stopped back at the house after 10k to light the coals on the bbq, went out for another 10k then came back and cooked up the burgers.

I was really craving them so they totally hit the spot.

Then he and I walked down for ice creams again - I just love having ice cream on hot, hot days.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

8k Run, Lawn Mowed and Kid Free Weekend. (July 28, 2022)

It was a gorgeous day out here today - finally!
It was another chill day at work - I got another project completed that's been sitting on the back burner for a while so that felt goo.

Even though it was super hot out on my lunch hour I still went out to get my run done.
I figured I only had 8k to run so it wouldn't be that hot.

I did my 'top' of town route.
There isn't much shade so it was hot, hot, hot.

My exercise details and average heart rate - a little up from the norm.

My splits and average pace.
That was a little up too - I think it was due to the heat but I got it all done - that's the main thing.

My check in video for today.
It was a hard run in the hot, hot sun but I did it!

Work was pretty slow this afternoon so it felt like the afternoon took forever but eventually it was time to go home.

I decided to try to mow the lawn - I always seem to have trouble starting the lawn mower but I was able to get it started today after only a couple trys.

I ran out of gas before I finished the front so I had to go down and buy more.
I am always afraid to let the lawn mower turn off while I'm mowing the lawn because it's so hard for me to start but after I filled it with gas, it started right up.

I finished the front and I was going to leave the back for tomorrow but I ended up going back there and starting it and of course if I start it, I then want to finish it.
So I did.

It took me a couple of hours to mow that front and the back but it looked so good when it was all done and it takes it off Jason's plate.
I actually kind of like mowing the lawn anyway - I like it way more than I like shoveling snow!

When Jason got home, we walked down to the store for an ice cream cone and aside from that, I spent the rest of the evening relaxing on the couch.

Freya left with Randy, Crystal and Zepplyn this morning to go to a family reunion down in Innisfail for four days so looks like I'm going to have a kid free weekend.
I hope she has fun (I'm sure she will).

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
