Off to the City (Nov.30, 2025)

I slept in a little this morning, it was after 8 am when I got up. 

The girls got up not much longer after I did so I had some chill time with them this morning.

Then I had to get ready to head to the city, I have my annual WCSS Chairman's Conference tomorrow and the next day.

I wanted to get in to the city early enough to be able to do some shopping so I wanted to get on the road at a decent time.

I packed and got the girls ready and I dropped them off at noon.

Then I headed in.

I was listening to my latest audiobook choice, The Wish Book Christmas.

It was centered around the Sears Christmas Wish Book which was a large part of my Christmases as a child growing up in Germany.

It's where we did all of our Christmas shopping so that felt really nostalgic to me.

I finished it on the way in.

I really liked it, it was very wholesome and heartwarming - a perfect Christmas story.

Then I started listening to a new book that caught my attention.

Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries.

I didn't get very far into it but so far so good.

I made a bunch of stops - Costco, Marshalls, Canadian Tire, Walmart, Homesense.

I shopped right from the time I got into the city around 2 pm until I finally went over to the Fantasy Land hotel and checked in around 8 pm.

I had stopped and got a Firehouse sub in there somewhere but didn't eat it until I got to my room.

The room is huge - there are two Queen beds and a couch too.

Nice room.

I finally had my sub - I was pretty hungry by this point - and while I ate, I went over everything I picked up today and what I still need to get.

I think I'm getting near finished.

I still need to buy some Mayfield or Jubilation tickets for mom and a trip for Jason.

Maybe a few more stocking stuffers.

Then we also want to get Freya a skateboard so I'll have a look for that on Tuesday on my way home.

I also need to get gifts for two office gift exchanges that I'm going to, one in St Albert and one in Swan Hills.

I'm not sure what to even get yet - I have to think about it.

I also would like to settle on a craft to do with the girls at the St Albert office party so I can pick up whatever supplies I need while I'm here in the city.
