Jason had us all signed up to do the 5k Halloween Dash this morning.
It only started at 10:30 so we got to let the girls sleep in a little bit.
I tried to open the curtains slightly so that I could take a picture of them sleeping but I roused Eden.
Got their costumes on - ready for the run.
Eden had a little Raggedy Ann costume but she refused to let us put it on her.
Zepplyn, Crystal and Freya.
Crystal was a slow & steady turtle - what a neat idea.
I just found a cave girl costume I had from years ago and wore that.
There's a Superman.
This family of bears or apes ended up winning first place for their costume.
Just waiting for the race to start.
And they are off.
The runners went first then about 15 minutes the walkers headed out.
Jason ran and the rest of us all walked it.
We were dead last.
I was pushing Eden in her stroller and it was through some trails so it was a little tough but I managed.
It was a loop and about 2.5k in Freya was done, she did not want to walk anymore.
We kept stopping and we were getting further and further behind.
There were some guys sitting on a bench (I think they were medics for the race) and they had a box of doughnuts, they offered the girls each one.
That perked Freya up a bit.
Then Jason texted to see where we were, he was already done and was making his way around the course again to come meet us.
When he got to us, he carried Freya for a bit.
She wanted to walk the last stretch so Jason took over pushing the stroller for me.
It's just a touch to short to push standing straight up so you have to be bent at an awkward angle to do it and it gets kind of hard on the back.
After the run, we all decided to go to Hu's Noodle Nook for something to eat.
Freya got one of the pop drinks she likes with the marble in the top that you have to push in.
We got Eden one too and she was pretty stoked.
Cheers!
Zepplyn got one too.
Enjoying their drinks.
Jason and Crystal.
I had the Tan Tan that I always get here and it just hit right today - even righter than usual.
It was so good I ate the whole entire bowlful which I rarely ever do.
We got Eden some rice and we gave her some noodles.
She didn't eat a heck of a lot of it.
Today is Eden's 2nd birthday so we ordered her the desert mochi and sang Happy Birthday to her.
The ate the Pocky that was on it but that was all - so Jason, Crystal and I shared her mochi.
Freya really liked the mochi and ate all of hers.
We passed a new doughnut place that Jason follows on Instagram, Doughnut Party, so we popped in and picked up a few doughnuts to try.
They were good but I'm not really a huge doughnut person.
I think I would have just preferred the honey glaze.
From there we headed over to Scare in the Square.
It was a Halloween event that was being put on downtown for the kiddos.
The idea was to bring the kids dressed up but they were done with their costumes after the run and didn't want to put them back on.
Freya tried the giant ring toss.
She was pretty good at it.
There was a maze made out of these fence sections.
Inside of it was stations that you could stop at and play more games and they were giving out candy.
There were more cool costumes - the big tall ones that I like.
This one stopped to offer the girls a candy but neither wanted to go get one out of her basket.
Eden was running around.
Climbing on the fence.
She was having a great time.
Little climber.
Another person in one of those really tall costumes stopped to 'talk' with her.
They didn't really talk - mostly made hand gestures.
Eden liked them but liked her fence more.
This one was an alien lookin guy - so cool.
I'd like to learn to walk on stilts just so I could do this.
There were two giant chess games set up.
This one had skulls and rats as the pieces (the other one had spiders and skulls too I think).
Eden was having a great time just knocking everything over.
Across the street in the city center mall there was a Banksy exhibit that we were interested in seeing so we took the girls over there.
There was a graffiti wall that you could add to right as you walked in so that was our first stop.
We all added a little something top it including Eden.
Banksy is an English street artist, political activist and his identity is unknown.
This is his most famous piece and I do think it is very recognizable.
There was a room that they had a bunch of his pieces of work on a loop - there was movement to them too so Freya sat in there for a bit and watched it.
His art is really interesting (I think).
Taking a minute to enjoy the space.
This one is called Barely Legal and was took inspiration from Demi Moore's iconic pregnant nude cover shot.
Freya went over close to the wall and tried to look in behind to see what these boys were looking at.
I like this one, it makes me think of sweeping things under the rug.
A metal detector screening all made out of cardboard.
Paint can.
I don't get this one?
More cardboard creations.
I really liked this one.
The exhibit was really cool - I wish I could have spent a bit more time reading all of the labels by the artwork but the girls were getting a bit restless so we figured it was time to go.
We didn't want them disturbing the other folks in the exhibit.
Freya saw something she just had to check out on the way back to the car.
This sculpture is in a skateboard park downtown.
Everyone was pretty tuckered out by this point so we headed back to the house.
Kody had come in so he was there when we got there.
I started working on a 500 piece puzzle I'd picked up at Winners in the City Center Mall.
It was on clearance because it was a Fall scene.
We ordered pizza for supper.
Then we had birthday cake for Eden since today is her birthday after all.
She had a hard time blowing out the candle but that didn't stop her from trying.
Happy Birthday Eden.
Happy Birthday Eden Round 2.
She loved us singing to her so much that we did it again a second time.
Kody and I finished up the puzzle then I think we were off to bed by 10.
Kody took Eden with him.
There was a big tv in our room so Jason, Freya and I watched some tv but it wasn't long before I was falling asleep.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
