Christmas Eve Shenanigans! (Dec.24, 2020)

 Here it is, Christmas eve.

Normally I still have gifts to wrap and things to pick up but I'm feeling very prepared this year.

When the kids got up, we got them to pose in front of the tree for a picture.
They have all really enjoyed hanging out together so we've been letting Alivia and Hunter stay over.
They don't get to see each other often so I am glad they are having this opportunity.

It's so hard to get them to all look and smile at the same time - these were the best of all the shots I took.

Jason is off this year for Christmas, he started days off today which is nice.

So he and I went for a walk.
I wanted to pick up a few things at the store.

It was a gorgeous day out.

Jen took the boys over to the hill to go sledding and we met them over there.

They were having a great time out there - they have been spending most of their time indoors so it was nice to see them get some fresh air.
It was a lovely day for it.

My sister and I, all bundled up.

My sister and her boys.
Eventually we all did get cold so we headed back home.

Everyone was coming over so I wanted to get some snacks and stuff put out.
Kody's household were the first to arrive.

The kids were decorating gingerbread cookies they'd given me at the hardware so we took Freya's shirt off so she wouldn't get it all dirty.

Rob was doing the cookie decorating supervising I guess!

Everyone gets to open one gift on Christmas Eve so the kids were all about that.

Declan was just waiting for the ok.

As soon as he got it, he tore into his gift.

Declan got a flying spinner toy and Ethan got a new controller for his Switch.
They were both pretty happy.

They hooked their Nintendo Switch up to our main tv to show Uncle Rob how to play a couple of their games.

Jen opened a gift too - looks like she got a bunch of scratch tickets.
Hopefully one of more of them is a big winner.

Haylee and Kody.

Freya was having a bath and when she saw the kids opening presents, she didn't want to take the time to get dressed before opening one herself.

So she tore right into the one that Uncle Rob got for her.

It was a little dolly that crawls - I think she likes it.

She kept a close eye while Nanny opened her Christmas Eve gift.
(It was a new pair of Skechers from Jason & I).

Then she assisted Papa in opening his gift.
What a great little helper.

Mom just rocking the Christmas shades!

Wasn't long before the rest of the family showed up.
Alivia and Mel even came in their pj's.

Morgan came solo - she and Tanner have lots of family to split their time between on Christmas so he stayed at his mom's but will come over tomorrow.

Freya assisting with the gift opening again.

Haylee opening her gift from Kody.

I love how she says Ethan.
He left for a minute and she couldn't find him.

Ha ha - her little looks.
Think she is giving him heck for her not being able to find him.

My cutie pie little nephews.

Watching Christmas movies.

Kody trying out the new gift he bought for Haylee, a hoverboard.
She was so happy and said she never would have dreamed it would have been that.
He did have a bit of a spill but thankfully he wasn't hurt.

Freya wanted to try it out.

All the kids ended up having a turn - Alivia was cautious but she did it.

Ethan having a go.

He almost tumbled but saved himself.

Hunter was the only one that wasn't interested in trying it out.
He was busy playing Minecraft.

We all just hung out and chatted and had snacks.

There was A LOT of chocolate being eaten this evening.

Haylee was like an old pro on the hoverboard after just a few tries.
Everyone stayed until around 10 pm then headed home.
Freya wanted to stay and Kody and Haylee still had some stuff to get done at home so they let her stay the night which Jason and I were thrilled about.

Jason got a call from his mom this evening with a bit of bad news.
His dad was cleaning snow off the roof tonight and fell off.
They aren't sure exactly the extent of his injuries but he is being flown to Edmonton tonight and we should know more soon.
He hasn't seen his parents in more than a year due to Covid so the silver lining is that he will at least be able to see them now.

I watched some of It's a Wonderful Life which is my Christmas Eve tradition but was too tired to finish it so I'll watch the end in the morning.

That is all for today, until next time, be happy.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
