Sedentary Day. (Feb.19, 2018)

I couldn't really sleep in this morning so I got up and made myself a coffee.

I had a bagel and I couldn't decide if I wanted peanut butter or turkey on it so I made half with peanut butter and the other half with the turkey.

I watched a couple episodes of Say Yes to the Dress then got sucked into a couple episodes of Hoarding: Buried Alive.

It is Family Day here in town so mom's friend picked her up to take her down to help out with the pancake breakfast that the fifty plus club was putting on.

I got ready and went down to the office.

I only have tomorrow to work then we are off on VACATION!!!

I wanted to be nice and caught up so I don't feel overwhelmed when I get back.

I planned on working for 2 hours but ended up staying for 4.
I feel really great about all that I was able to accomplish.

I stopped at the store on the way home to get something for supper but couldn't decide on anything so ended up buying chips.

I admit it, I have caved.
I am totally in vacation mode as far as eating goes and there is no sense pretending otherwise.

I got a bowl of chips then looked for something to watch.

I have always wanted to watch Fifty Shades of Grey even though I started reading the books and wasn't really interested in them (the writing was awful).
My Honey has no desire to see this movie at all so I figured it would be good to watch it when he wasn't here.

I kind of partially watched it and partially blogged at the same time.

We leave our front curtains open all the time so the kitties can watch what is going on in the outside world and I had to close them up because I was afraid that someone would walk by and see what was on the tv and think that I was watching porn or something.

So far, I am not sure how much I actually like the movie.
It certainly isn't the best thing I have ever seen but it isn't horrible.
I could do without all the sex scenes but seeing that is a big part of the story I guess that wouldn't really make sense.

Professor Snuggles curled right up next to me and stayed there most of the afternoon.

He looked so cozy.

I wasn't quite finished watching my movie when My Honey got home but I just turned it off.
I am not sure if I will even finish watching it, maybe sometime.

Supper was chips - Zesty Cheese Doritos and Salt & Pepper Lays.
Not very healthy.

I paid the price too because my belly sure was bothering me when I went to bed.

I had a hard time falling asleep because of it but I finally did only to be woken a little while later by my alarm so I could get up and check us into our flight at 12:05 am.

Got it done though and we are good to go!

OUCH - I knew I had a very sedentary day today but this is really low.

By Tuesday I will be making up for it though.
Can't wait!!!

That is all for today,
Until next time, be happy.

Oh Weekend, How I Love Thee. (Feb.18, 2018)

This morning I made a coffee and got all caught up on Heartland.

I made myself a delicious bagel with egg and turkey for breakfast.
It sure hit the spot.

I also did laundry and did some cleaning and organizing around the house.

My niece called and asked if I could take her to drop something off so I did.
I also gave her my exercise ball and some scented waxes.

Other than that, it was a really quiet day.

I did pick up these cleansing strips at the dollar store yesterday so I figured I'd give them a try.

It didn't seem to attach as well as others I've tried but it did work ok.

I did have a nice relaxing bath this afternoon and read some more of the first Game of Thrones book that I am about half way through now.

I was hoping to get some blogging done but that didn't happen.

I went to download my pictures from my new phone to my computer and I realized that the charge cord for the Google Pixel XL 2 is a weird different size.

Also, it didn't come with a cord that hooks up to the computer.
I found that so annoying and frustrating.

I have tons of cords for the old iphone, new iphone and my samsung but they are all now useless to me.
Why do they do that?

I need a male to male usb cord and there aren't many places here in town to get something like that.

So I went to the two gas stations to look - they didn't have them.

I ended up sending the pictures to myself on messenger then uploaded them from there.
Such a pain.

I am regretting a little now that I didn't go with the Samsung.
For sure something to keep in mind next time I upgrade phones.

I had a few sweet potatoes hanging around so I made sweet potato fries for supper.

I just love them.
I mix some mayo together with seafood cocktail sauce for a dip and it is a perfect combination.

I had some chicken breast that I needed to use up too so I made chicken fingers.
I had some bacon that needed to be used up as well so I just wrapped some of the fingers with bacon.
Then the rest I soaked in a buttermilk spice mixture for a bit then I dipped them in a mixture of panko bread crumbs and flaked coconut.
I've never made them like that before but they turned out really well, I think I'll likely make them again.

We watched an episode of GOT when My Honey got home.
I love having weekends off but when he has to work them, I miss him.
It's nearly bed time by the time he gets home.

I think PS missed him too.
He latched on and didn't want to let go of him.

Look at how adoringly he is looking up at him.
Aww, so cute!

I had gotten up early so I was quite tired so we pretty much went to bed after the GOT episode.

Tomorrow is a holiday here in Alberta (Family Day) so I have another day off - woot woot!

I didn't track in WW again today and I did pick up a pack of cookies at the store today and I had a couple of them.

Somebody had this posted on Facebook and I thought it was great advice.

I didn't track any of my food today on weight watchers.

Did a little better with the fitbit steps.
Want to get back to having over 10,000 per day.

That is all for today.
Until next time, be happy!

Girl Day (Feb.17, 2018)

This morning I got a few things done around the house then I got a message from my dear friend DZ back in NS wanting to know if it was true and if I was really joining the Nanny club.
She was visiting another friend, TR, in Cape Breton and asked if I could live message with them for a bit so I did and it was nice to catch up.

I talked with them for quite awhile and DZ seems to be doing much better than the last time I spoke with her so that made me happy.

After our chat, my mom, my niece and I went for a trip to WCT.
The sun is shining and we are on our way.

On the way, I got a message from My Honey about a co-workers wife.
They very recently discovered that she has cancer and it isn't good news.
It started as cervical and spread to her lungs and they are only giving her a year.
It is just so devastating.
Her husband, brother and father all work for us and she used to work with us in the office herself.
They have two young daughters, 5 and 7.
She is barely 30 herself.
She is also fit and I thought healthy, she has always taken care of herself, never smoked, worked out.
The news is just so hard to believe.

They are looking for second opinions and I am praying that they find a more optimistic diagnosis.

It is scary how much life can change in an instant.

I had an appointment for a pedicure (need my toes in tip top shape for flip flops next week).
I made mom an appointment to get her hair done.
She had decided not to color it anymore and just let it go grey.
She still needed a cut though.
Her hair dresser sold her business and does it out of her home now and this is my first time taking mom there.
She sent me a text with her address but of course it was before I switched over phones so I can't get the information.
So we just kind of drove around until we were late, waiting for her to get in touch with us, which she did.
I dropped my niece off at Walmart, mom at her hair appointment then I went to my appointment.

Yup, I am ready to be pampered.

Kim herself did my pedicure today.

It took a little bit because she had to take off the old polish.

I was leaning toward an aqua blue or an orange and I was texting My Honey so I got his opinion.
His pick was orange so that is what I went with.

I think it turned out well.

After my pedicure, I picked mom up and we met Miss M at Walmart.
I had a few things I needed to pick up then afterwards we decided to have Timmie sandwiches for lunch.
They have changed their turkey bacon club and instead of processed meat, they have real turkey now.
They also got rid of the honey mustard and use mayo now.
It was a good lunch.

Next stop was No Frills.
Miss M needed groceries.

Our final stop was Dollarama.

Isn't she a beauty!

Mom with her hair all did!

The back of the truck was loaded up, mom could barely fit in there!
We made the trip back home, got everything unloaded then I met my boy down at the office.

I had picked up this treadmill for $100 and had it in an office at work.
My son wanted one though so I told him he could have it.
He & I loaded it up and took it to his place.

This afternoon I got all caught up on my episodes of Nashville.

I saw this at the dollar store so I picked it up for My Honey and I to try.
I had a piece and I did not like it at all.

He tried it later and didn't like it either.

When he got home we watched a couple episodes of Game of Thrones.

Paddington was pretty chill.

Professor Snuggles was chilling out too.

I did not track my points today on Weight Watchers but I was careful about what I ate.

Did a little better on the step front today.

That is all for today.
Until next time, be happy.

New Phone (Feb.16, 2018)

Finally got my new phone turned on and took my first picture with it.

I worked through lunch today which I'd planned in advance so I brought a piece of the zucchini lasagna we made last night for lunch.

That is all the pictures that I have for today so here are a few Facebook memories.

My Honey built a beautiful wooden bed for Professor Snuggles but he wasn't having any of it and opted to sleep in an actual box.
He was just loving it in there too.

This picture always cracks me up.
He was so NOT impressed to be wearing the Santa hat.

Las Vegas Trip 2014 continued

I had some fabulous french toast for breakfast.

We had a little visitor at the table.
He was enjoying the maple syrup just as much as I was.

We tried a few new to us flavors of chips.
We love sriracha so figured these would go over good.

I am a huge chicken and waffles fan so was excited about this flavor as well.

Enjoying a scrumptious desert.

Doesn't it look fab?

My Honey was also enjoying a fabulous desert.

We were making sad faces because it was our last day of the trip.

Boo hoo - we didn't want to leave (we never do).

We stumbled upon a little Cuban place so we gave it a try.

Empanadas - yum yum.

This is how they looked inside.

Did great following plan again.

Average step count for me lately.

That is all for today.

Until next time, be happy!

RIP to My Phone (Feb.15, 2018)

Another snow filled day.

I did notice that it is starting to be a little lighter out in the morning when I am heading to work.
That's nice, means we are heading towards the finish line of winter (and it can't come soon enough if you ask me).

Was able to do my hair properly this morning and see the color.
I am happy with it.
I have so much to get done at work before I leave on vacation that I decided to just work through lunch.

They were having a meeting and brought in soup and sandwiches so that worked out perfectly for me.
I was hoping to get my new phone set up today but I just didn't have time.
I ended up working late too.

I wanted to look at hotels for Miami as we still haven't booked one at it is making me a little nervous but because it was so late I got right to work making supper.

I cooked up some salmon and made roasted broccoli.

Then I also cooked up some ground chicken I had picked up and made it into a veggie lasagna.
Instead of noodles I put in layers of zucchini.
I cut it into strips with a carrot peeler and it worked really nicely.
My Honey helped me put the lasagna together when he got home.

By the time we finished all that and clean up it was pretty much bed time.
I did do a little hotel researching but I didn't really find anything.
DEFINITELY have to get that done tomorrow!

I have no pictures from today because my phone finally crapped out.
I tried everything I could to get it to power on so I could get the pictures but no go.
At least it was only today's pictures that I lost.

Did great staying on plan today.

Steps could have been better.

That is all for today.
Until next time, be happy!

Happy Valentine's Day! (Feb.14, 2018)

There was so much snow out there this morning that mom couldn't even open the back door to let Max out.
When I went out to start the truck, I only had my capri pajama pants on and the snow was up to my knees.
It was FREEZING!
I am so not a cold weather girl.

My new phone arrived yesterday - YAY!
I didn't set it up yet, I am hoping I can hang on until my new cases get here.
I may have to just go ahead and do it though if they aren't here by the weekend.
I want to take my new phone with me on our trip next week.

Finally going to go get this grey covered up today.

Breakfast was egg creations - the cheese & chive kind.
They smell so good when they are cooking, they taste super delicious and they are only 1 point for 1/2 cup.
I love them.

BN gave us girls in the office Valentine's treats today.
Very nice of him!

I worked through lunch so I could leave a bit early to go to my hair appointment.
So cottage cheese and grapes was my lunch.

In the chair, ready for this grey to be gone!

Just getting the roots done this time, next time I am going to be brave and get a new color or something.

My Honey's truck was ready to be picked up so once she finished with the color, even though I usually would get her to straighten it for me, I  told her not to bother because we had to drive to WCT to pick the truck up.

We got the truck then stopped at the casino for some supper seeing as it is Valentine's Day and all.
My Valentine.

Hard to tell but the grey is gone!

Our supper took forever!
I am sure we waited over an hour for it.
I know I finished two virgin Caesar's and probably could have had a third.

I had the chicken and ribs.
When it finally showed up, I wasn't even that hungry anymore.
I ate the breast of the chicken, the veggies and a quarter of the baked potato.
We took the rest home for My Honey to have for lunch tomorrow.

My Honey's burger looked delicious.
He confirmed that it was.

My Valentine!
(This was taken at my work Christmas party a couple years back)

Texas Trip 2016 Memories Continued

There are a couple days combined together here.

After we left Austin, we headed for Fort Worth/Dallas.

Waco was on the way and My Honey wanted to stop in and check out the Branch Davidian compound.
There ended up being not much to see, there was this memorial though.
It is quite sad what happened there.

Pit stop at Czech Stop, a famous bakery, it was crazy busy.

Picnic lunch in Waco.

Next stop - Fort Worth Stock Yards

Lots of western/cowboy stuff to see, like this....

and this...

We saw big cowboys...

and little cowboys.

This little guy was really into it - so cute.

Imagine if we still hauled oil around in one of these things.

We found a Thai place in Dallas to have some supper.
Thai Terrace
I had my favorite Tom Kha Gai.

My Honey had his favorite, green curry.
The food was really good here.

We made a stop at Target and I was blown away by all the choices of coffee creamer they had,

Shelves

and more shelves of it.
Wow!!!
Wish we had all those options here at home.

Found a new flavor of chips to try.

And this was a new to us flavor too.

Our last full day in Texas we just had to go check out The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.
The scene of one of those events in history where anyone who was alive at the time remembers where they were and what they were doing when it happened.
(and that was before the age of the internet and social media)

They have deemed it a historic site and everything must stay just as it was back in the 60's when the assassination occurred.

The 'x' on the road marks the spot where the second bullet actually struck President Kennedy.

Just standing here imagining what it must have been like that day for a great, happy occasion to suddenly turn into such a sad one.

The famous grassy knoll.

It is amazing how many people are still interested by this event in history and come out to see this place.

The window the arrow is pointing to is where Lee Harvey Oswald did the shooting from.
I think everyone has seen the live photage of the assassination and to be here and see this place in real life was both amazing and a little sad too.

For supper we hit up the pizza place My Honey had heard of.
(He just knows such random stuff).

We had their deep fried pizza dough with marinara sauce for dipping.
They were really good.
The pizza was great there too.

As with any city, there was lots of amazing graffiti/wall art around.
We headed back to Houston after our day in Dallas.

We got to Houston later in the evening and found a Crab Shack to have our last supper in.
My Honey went for the lobster.

I decided to give the crab a try.
I had to put my hood up because it was a little chilly out on the patio where we sat,
It also kept my hair out of my food somewhat.

This was our rental for the trip.
I am going to miss it, it was a really great vehicle.

It even had it's own signal like Batman.

Las Vegas 2014 Memories Continued

We heard great things about the oyster bar at Harrah's so we had to check it out.

I just love oysters on the half shell so I was pretty happy.

We tried the oysters Rockefeller too but the raw ones were my favorite.

We saw Terry Fator while we were there.
We thought he put on a great, entertaining show.

We also made a point to go the Golden Nugget and try out their water slide that goes through a shark tank.
It goes so fast that you can't even see anything while you are on the slide so it wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be.

Contemplating whether or not this Chocolate Pecan pie cookie would taste as good as it looks.

It did!
What a fantastic combo.

We tried Bobby's Burger Palace on the strip.

The burger I picked had bbq chips and pimentos.

It was absolutely, mouth wateringly delicious!

I totally went over on my points today, even used up more weekly's than I had available.
I still tracked it though - owning up to it.

The culprit as you can see is the trail mix my mom picked up for me for Valentine's Day.
I just can't stop with the stuff once I start.
Thank goodness she only bought a little bag of it!

Pretty standard step total for me lately

That is all for today.
Until next time, be happy!
