Smoky Days (May 30, 2019)

After our late night last night, I was too tired to get up early and work out.
I planned to get it in later though.

I'm up .2, not sure why but that's ok - going to keep at it.

I got out for a morning walk to the road.
It is very smoky out there and you can smell the forest fire in the air.

Not sure if being out in that smoky air is good for my lungs but the walk is good for my spirits.

See - I'm an outdoor girl 😏 Being outside makes me smile (as long as there aren't any mosquitos)!

The smoke is so thick today it's hard to see things.

Normally you'd be able to see over this way for miles but now you can barely see across the road.
As much I love the nice warm weather, I am really hoping for rain.
We need it.
There are 25 wildfires burning across Alberta already and the forest fire season has just begun.

At coffee break, we asked our boss, BL, if we could go to the greenhouse in WCT this afternoon to get some planters for the office and he said sure.
It would be a good team building exercise!

Before we left, I was sitting at my desk working when I suddenly had this weird thing happen with my vision.
There was an arc shaped prism like thing in the left field of my vision.
It was distorting the words on the screen of the computer and it kind of freaked me out.

I looked it up and the symptoms pointed to either a migraine aura or a detached retina.
So when we got to WCT, I stopped at the optometrist to see if they could see me.

They were fully booked for the day but when I described my symptoms (which had basically gone away by this point), they figured it pointed more toward the migraine aura.
I've never had migraines and didn't realize you could have them without the pain.

Anyway, that made me feel relieved.
I think I will still make an appointment with my optometrist to get it checked out just in case though.

I rode down to WCT with BH and SG rode down with SV (we figured we'd need lots of room for all the plants so we needed two vehicles).

We went out for lunch first at OJ's.

The girls know the drill - smile for my blog post picture!

I had a virgin Caesar and it was fabulous.

I had the brussel sprouts and they were soooooo good.
I felt guilty because they are deep fried so not that great for me but did it anyway.

I had a side salad to go along with it and the side salad was really good.

BH had one shrimp left over that she was too full to eat.
So when she left to go to the washroom, we had the waiter bring her a to go container for it.
Ha ha!
It's just a little tiny dip container and it fit perfectly.

Then we were off plant shopping.
We found these two big planters for the office right away.

The girls were busy looking for plants and I was watching this little guy running around all over the garden center.

We went to a couple spots and the trucks were both very full when we headed back to the Hills.

The smoke was just getting thicker and thicker.

When I got home, My Honey had supper ready.
He cooked up a turkey and we had turkey tacos.
He made guacamole from scratch (he makes everything from scratch) and it was delicious.
I can't wait to have some more tomorrow.

I was so tired again I fell asleep on the couch and Professor Snuggles decided to cuddle with me.
He's not normally a cuddler so My Honey had to take a picture.

My Honey made us smoothies before we turned in for the night.

I saw this on Facebook and it made me laugh because it's so me.

In fact, this is a screen shot of the alarms I currently have set on my phone.

I barely reached any of my goals today, tsk, tsk.
Tomorrow I will do better.

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!

Morning Walks (May 29, 2019)

It was such a gorgeous morning out there today that I got ready and instead of working out, I decided to walk down to work.

The sun was shining and it was a lovely walk.

The brush along the trail I take has really grown a bunch since last year.

I was worried that this dip might be hard to maneuver but it wasn't at all.

It felt so good to get some fresh air first thing.

How lucky am I to get to have views like this on my walk to work?

Just look at that sun shining away over my shoulder and it's not even 7 am yet.

Down a little more today.
Good stuff!

Got out for my morning walk just before coffee break.

Going to have to start bringing sunglasses with me.

The sky was so blue and there wasn't a cloud to be seen.

The trees have filled out very nicely too - I always thought summer was my favorite time of year but I'm thinking now maybe that spring is my favorite.
Watching everything come back to life is so exciting.

A co-worker who transferred to another area (PJ) dropped in today with his wife for a visit.
It was really nice to see them.
They brought a fruit tray and a veggie tray for us so I had some good snacks for coffee break.

He was working here when I started and he really knows his stuff.
I learned a lot from him and he was always very patient and thorough when explaining things.
Unfortunately, there were some management changes and he was really unhappy here in our district for a year or two before he transferred.
Although I miss him being around, he is super happy in his new district so that's wonderful and I'm happy for him.

When I got home for lunch, My Honey had cooked fish with lemon caper sauce.
I love, love, love capers.

I mixed up a salad to go with and it was a delightful, delicious lunch.

Walk number two of the day.

It's nice to get out for those few minutes, away from my desk and my computer and out into the sunshine.

After work, My Honey and I headed to WCT.

First stop was for supper.
I told him to pick the spot and he chose Soban.

They used to bring salad and miso soup for free to everyone but they stopped doing that.
I liked it so much that I ordered some anyway.
Miso soup is so good.

Their salad is pretty plain, mainly lettuce really but the sauce they put on it takes it makes it scrumdiddlyumptious.
(I made up that word).

We ordered some sushi.
It had salmon, avocado, cream cheese, cucumber and spicy sauce.
Very delicious as well.

My Honey had boiled tofu soup.

I had the beef bulgogi.
It was a really good meal.

After we went to Walmart, ran into BH there.
We picked up a few things that we needed and I got a couple of hanging baskets.

We also got these.
There were only 3 in the pack so I told My Honey he had to eat two of them.
There was no way they would last until we got home.
They were good for only being 100 calories.

We stopped at the casino on the way home and we each threw $20.00 in.
We stayed there for about an hour and I played on one machine the whole time.
I ended up cashing out at $30.00 so not bad.
Play for an hour and up - could have been far worse.
My Honey won a bit too, I think he cashed out at $110.

It was 9:30 by the time we headed home and I know I'm going to have a tough time getting up in the morning but we had a nice evening so it was worth it.

We were hoping to see the mama grizzly bear and her three cubs along the way but we didn't.
We did however get to see this family of geese.

When we stopped to have a look, mommy & daddy scurried the little ones away.

So true.
I used to run away like a maniac and now I just sit still and let them do their thing.

They went for ice cream yesterday and Mr H is thoroughly enjoying every bite!

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!

Sunny Days (May 28, 2019)

Up early and getting our sweat on.
We are fortunate to have two treadmills so we can get our cardio in at the same time.

I walked at an incline of 6 for most of my workout this morning.

I'm red and sweaty - that's a good thing!

No change from yesterday.

I got out for my morning walk to the road.
It was another beautiful day out there - gorgeous.

I sat my curse beside me on the couch at lunch time and I think Paddington was laying claim to it.

After work I dropped by to visit Baby F.

They were outside enjoying the gorgeous weather.

Miss Z was over visiting too.

She really likes the little water table I found on the local Buy & Sell for $20.00

It's just the perfect size for her to be able to reach.

I think she liked the cool water because she kept dipping the little scuba diver guy then putting him in her mouth.

Here, you want some dad?

My Honey had taken some chicken out of the freezer so I warmed it up and some left over corn.
I also cooked peas, edamame and instant mashed potatoes, it was delicious.

My Honey had to join this Safety program for work and he sent me this shot of what he entered for incidents that he's had.
I asked if he was really going to leave it in there and he said Oh no, he'd adjusted it.

This is what he actually put in there.
Ha Ha.
What a mind he has.
He sure keeps me laughing.

He took this awesome picture of a lynx out in the field today, isn't it incredible?
What a magnificent looking creature.

Somebody (Mr H), got a new car bed today and he is loving it.
They are hoping it keeps him in his own bed at night, I think it just might work.

I thought this was so cute.

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!
