Vegas Day 1 - Durango, Prince St Pizza, Neilson's, Irv's Burgers, Fountain Bleau, Miami Slice (Mar.13, 2024)

We always like to get to the airport early so we were up at 6, left the hotel by 6:30 to drop off our car at Park2Go then at the airport by 7 am.

It wasn't very busy and we got through security in no time at all so we had lots of time to spare.

We went to Chilli's and had some breakfast.

Jason had fruit and a breakfast wrap.

I had avocado toast and bacon.

Oh and there's my refreshed hair.

Loving it and so looking forward to some sunshine and good food.

After we ate, I went to the bookstore to find a book for the plane.
I found a couple that looked interesting so I took pictures so I would remember.

I love a good story about a bookshop.

I ended up going with this one on Cecilia Blomdahl's recommendation - she's a YouTube Vlogger that lives in Svalbard and I love watching her channel.

Then I found this one last minute and it was really intriguing to me so I went with it.

Waiting at the gate.
We boarded right on time at 9 am and we thought we were going to be off early but then we hit a snag.
We had to wait to be de-iced - we were next in line but some fog rolled in so they stopped all planes from taking off.
We ended up sitting in the plane for 2 hours then they finally took us back to our gate and we all got back off the plane.
They told us to stay close but they really didn't know when we would be leaving.

So we went back to Chilli's and I had me a Caesar.
It was good.

After about an hour and a half in the airport, we re-boarded the plane and this time, we were off.

Flying over the mountains in Nevada.

Landing in Vegas

There was an outrageously long line up for the shuttle bus to the car rental spot so we decided to take a cab and the cab driver was so rude about it.
Told us we were supposed to take the bus - Jason and him kind of had words.
It wasn't a very nice start.

Then at the car rental desk, they said Jason had booked the managers choice which was an electric car and we didn't want that.
We've never driven one before so I didn't feel comfortable, especially if we went for a long drive.
So we ended up having to pay extra for just Rogue which is the only car in the whole place they said they had.
Then we went down and they ended up giving us a Toyota which we couldn't hook our phones up to - it had a C type plug in instead of a USB like a vehicle normally has.

We got it going finally and so we were able to find our way around.
We decided to go to a new casino off strip, Durango - it just opened recently and they have a Prince Street Pizza in their food court.

It is a nice looking property.

There it is!

We always make a stop at Prince St. when we are in New York - it's one of our favorite pizza places - so we were excited to be able to try it out here in Vegas.

All the pizzas.

Our favorite kind!

So we each got a slice of that.
It was just as delicious as the pizza in New York.

Then there was a vodka slice with a thinner crust.
It could have used a lot more vodka sauce.

We got a thick crust vodka slice too and that one was pretty good.

Some of the other spots in the food court.

Uncle Paulie's.

Irv's Burgers.

Nielson's.
They have one of these at Red Rock Casino and we went there last year - it was so good.
So we had to have it again.

There was a bit of a line up when I got there but they got through it really quickly.

I got pecans, cheesecake pieces and chocolate fudge and it was fantastic.

Jason just went with pistachios and it was super good too.
It was just loaded with pistachios - yum!

The food court is called Eat Your Heart Out - Very fitting.

After our pizza and ice cream, we decided we could still cram a bit more food into our bellies so we decided to give Irv's Burgers a try.

We shared a burger - just their signature burger.

I like the wrapper - cute.

We shared some fries too and they were good fries.

We walked around the casino a bit to check it out then did a little gambling.

Then on the way out we passed this cookie bar.

Cookies!!!

They were giant and looked amazing.

They had lots of different kinds.

Those were SMores ones.

I went with the Walnut Chocolate Chip.
I didn't eat it until I got to our room and honestly, it wasn't really that good.

After we finished up at Durango, we headed over to the Strat which is where we are staying at this time round again.
We like the location.
We checked in and the room we gave us was on the same floor as last time, right across the hall.
Floor 20 room 121.
We unpacked our stuff, had a bit of a rest then headed out for a walk on the strip.

It was a little chillier of weather than we were expecting so we decided to walk up to the Ross and have a look around.

We passed by the Fountain Bleau which has opened since the last time we were here.

They have this car 'art' out in the front - kind of cool.

A really nice walkway along side of it that's all lit up - very pretty.
This was all blocked off last time we were here.

We got our first sighting of the Sphere in person.

First glimpse of The Sphere.

We shopped around at Ross - I ended up buying a pair of jeans and a long sleeve top.

We walked back to Fountain Bleau then went up and checked out their food court.

We knew they had a Miami Slice and we wanted to try it.

I love the floors.

They were busy making pizza of course.

We shared a couple slices.
This was the Pepperoni Proper with all the kicks.

Then we also tried a Mushroom Truffle slice - this one was my favorite.
I noticed afterward that they had a vodka slice - I was too full to try it tonight but we will make a point of coming back so we can try it out.

It's a really pretty food court.

And the casino itself is so beautiful too.

The escalator up to the food court is so tall!

Then it was back to the Strat and our room.
We had an early start to the day and we were both tired so we called it a night.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
