Las Vegas Day 4 - Makers & Finders, MIchael Jackson One by Cirque du Soleil (Mar.16, 2024)

We woke up to rain and I just didn't want to deal with it so I decided to go do my run on the treadmill in the gym and Jason headed outside for his run.
He's definitely made of tougher stuff than I am.

I had to do a 4 mile (6.4k) easy run today.
I got 1.14 miles done then I had to leave to go use the washroom.

So partially done.

Then I came back, hopped on and got the rest done that I needed to do.

The deets.
I wore my new Hoka's and they felt wonderful.
I'm in love.
They were expensive but I'm so glad I splurged for myself - my feet are especially grateful.

Jason got back to the room around the same time as I did then we got ready and headed back to the Arts District for some breakfast.

We went to a little spot called Makers & Finders.

It's a trendy little spot.

I had a chicken wrap and roasted potatoes.

This was what Jason had

He said it was pretty gross.
Mine was ok.

We decided to try a couple of empanadas as well, we had a savory one and a berry filled one.
They were just ok as well.

After lunch we just walked around the area a bit.
I just love murals - especially fun ones.

I think they just bring so much character to an area and make it so much more interesting as well.

I'd much rather walk around and look at murals like this than at famous artwork inside of a famous art gallery.

That sunshine felt so good.

We made our way down to Fremont St and decided to do a mini pizza tour again.
We went back to Pop Up Pizza where the worker had been so rude last time but the pizza was good and it was just as good this time.

They opened a Pinkbox doughnuts in the Plaza since we were last here.

They jumped right into the doughnut theme just like Bagelmania jumped into the bagel theme.
I think it looks great.

We aren't huge on doughnuts but we had them before and they were good so we figured we'd at least just share one.

There were so many varieties to choose from.

I picked the Canolli one.

Then we just walked through Fremont - it was really busy.
There were lost of people dressed up in Zombie or apocalyptic type clothing - apparently there was some Day of the Dead thing going on.

We went to Evil Pie and had a slice there - it was really dark inside so I didn't get any pictures.

Jason bought us tickets to go see the Michael Jackson Cirque De Soleil show tonight, One, and it was playing at Mandalay Bay which is way at the other end of the strip so we started heading down that way.

We walked as far as the Sahara then we hopped on the monorail.
It would have taken us a couple hours to walk to Mandalay and we just didn't have the time.

The monorail goes right by the Sphere and you get a great view of it as you pass by.

We made it to Mandalay with a little time to spare.
We walked around and checked it out and gambled a little.
I found this new pinata game at the Strat that I really enjoy so I keep looking for it at all of the other casinos - so far I've only found it at Sahara though.
Mandalay didn't have it either.

There was another concert going on at Mandalay - Journey was playing and Toto was opening for them.
If we'd known, we likely would have went to that but too late now.
Maybe another time.

It's been a bit since we've been to a Cirque show so I was looking forward to it.

The stage looked pretty cool.

The show was great.
At the end they Man in the Mirror and they had a Michael Jackson hologram dancing with all the dancers and I loooved it.
I mean, you could tell it was a hologram but it still looked cool.
It made me emotional for some reason and I got a little choked up.

Now that Freya has shown this sudden interest in Michael Jackson we are thinking we'd love to bring her to vegas so she could see this show.
Maybe we'll try to do it later this year.

After the show, we walked over to MGM, hopped back on the monorail and took it as far as Westgate because we wanted to go back to Fountain Bleau and we thought that would be the closest stop.
WE ended up kind of walking all around trying to get there and we made it but in hindsight, we likely should have stayed on it right the Sahara and just walked back.

Live and learn!

We popped into MIami Slice so we could try the Vodka Slice, we also tried a Margherita slice and a Leeks and Bacon which ended up being my favorite of the three.

Then we walked back to the Strat, did a little gambling as per our usual end of evening ritual then called it a night.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
