Las Vegas 2017 Trip #2 Day #7 (Nov.17, 2017)

Well here it is, our last full day in Vegas for this trip - we need to make the most of it.
No work out but I gave up on that anyway.
Just making sure to get in lots of steps and always skip the escalators and opt for the stairs.

Breakfast this mornining was at Egg Works.
I ordered the Strawberry Cream Cheese Stuffed, for My Honey & I to share.
That was 2 pieces of thick sliced Hawaiin Toast stuffed with strawberry cream cheese then topped with strawberry sauce and whipped cream.
It was good but would have been a little too sweet for a breakfast meal.
Glad I ordered it just as a side for My Honey & I to share.

BN & JM had a scramble.

My Honey had eggs benny.

I ordered am omelet for my breakfast.
Of course we had too much food and couldn't finish but sometimes in order to try new things, that is going to happen.

My Honey & I

Our plan was to head out to Lake Mead and feed the fishies.
I wanted to pick up some popcorn for that so we checked out some near by shops.

There was a little bakery that had some really nice work.
These little shoes are all edible cake toppers - so cool.

Some cakes they had on display.

Some people are just so talented.

I really like this one.

I did see this and couldn't resist.

We accidentally missed the turn off to Lake Mead and ended up at Hoover Dam.

It was ok though, BN had never been before so he got to check it out.

Sometimes I wonder why we need these kinds of signs.
Do people have no common sense?
I am thinking if they need to put a sign up then likely something must have happened at one point which means that I guess not eveyone does have common sense.

I wonder if that is the water line and if at one point the water was up that high?

My Honey & I

This cool statue outside of the visitor center there.

We passed a couple of trucks hauling these cement barriers.

I was trying to get a picture of how long they were because I'd never seen anything that long going down the highway before but I couldn't get the whole thing in one shot.

Amazing.
I know that I would not want to be pulling these things down the highway.

Next stop was Lake Mead to feed the fishies...

(and duckies).

Look at all those open mouths, basically just waiting for someone to throw some food into them.

Life from a ducks point of view.

This girl was trying to catch a sucker fish.
She said she came here lots and did this as a child with her grandparents and now she was bringing her daughter back to experience it.
Pretty cool.

BN & My Honey thought this little fellow was looking a little chunky.
I think he looks just fine.

As we were laving, the lady who was there sharing the Lake Mead experience with her daughter told us that the water used to be up to where you can see the white line on the rock formation in the center of this picture.
WOW!
It sure has dropped over the years - where has all the water gone?

We decided to take a little detour into Boulder City on our way home.
It is filled with antique stores and there are always interesting things to see.

Leave it to My Honey to find the interesting stuff.
I didn't see these until we were home and I was looking through his pictures.

Quite fascinating if you ask me.

Boulder City is full of these story book statues which I love.

This was made out of scraps - some people are just so imaginative.

This was too - it would be a cool gift to give one of my brothers but likely a tad heavy to put in my luggage, lol!

A cactus (or two) made out of old horse shoes - awesome.

I can't really decide whether I like these old puppets or if I find them creepy.
Not sure why he has a big bath sponge on his crotch?

My Honey did some online research and found a Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives spot in Las Vegas that we hadn't tried yet.

Fat Choy

It is inside of a casino and you can't really tell from the street that it is there.

The tell tale sign that Guy Fieri has been here.

I had pot stickers (ok)

and the peking duck bao.
I did not like this - the flavor of the duck was too strong and gamey for me.

My Honey had a burger with a nice fried egg up on top and it was good.

Then we finished off with a slice of pumpkin pie cheesecake - it was FABULOUS!

After dinner we headed back to the hotel and said our good-byes to BN & JM.
They were off to see Cher this evening then their flight home tomorrow was leaving bright and early in the am and we weren't leaving until the evening.

They were really great to travel with - always up for anything.
I am sure we will be travelling with them again in the future.

We were supposed to be seeing Guns and Roses tonight but when My Honey purchased the tickets online there was an issue and the transaction never went through or completed.
He only discovered it once we got here to Vegas though and there weren't many tickets left by that point.
The ones that were left were way out of our price range so he bought us tickets to see O tonight.

I've been wanting to see this Cirque show for awhile so I was happy with that.

Plus it plays in the Bellagio which I'd never been inside so I was happy to get to see it.

I started buying souvenir magnets to the shows we attend and I couldn't make up my mind which one to get, this one....

Or this one that looks like a compact disc.
I went with this one.

This was the ceiling in the theatre - beautiful.
Some acts dropped down out of there too later in the show.

Last picture before I put my camera away for the show.
Can't take pictures during the show as the flash could affect the performers.

We explored around the Bellagio after the show.

The whole ceiling in the lobby is covered with these blown glass flowers which are pretty spectacular.

There was a gorgeous fountain in the lobby too - not as nice as the dancing ones outside but nice.

There was a fall display in an area next to the lobby that was awesome.

Quite the light fixture.

Folks were milling about everywhere taking pictures but they were polite and moved on when they were done to allow others to have a chance at taking pictures.

These wood creatures were wonderful.

Another one

There was a pair of giant peacocks.

The feathers were created with flowers.

Giant fall leaves

And giant acorns

Their were pumpkin scarecrows

and little straw scarecrows.

Another tree creature - I think this one was my favorite.

My Honey & I in the Autumn Wonderland.

Some peacocks were even sitting in the branches of the trees.

This little guy was cute.

The display included a giant pumpkin (a real one).

Also a giant acorn made out of plants.

Another woodland creature pushing a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins.

Just another view of those fabulous peacocks.

We made our way outside and the next thing on the agenda for me was to watch the dancing fountains in front of the Bellagio.

The view from this vantage point is quite beautiful.

I just love all the lights and colors here.

The show is about to begin.

Of all the sights to see in Vegas, this is at the top of my list.

I just love watching these fountains and tonight they were dancing along to one of my favorite songs to - Your Song by Sir Elton John.
Now that I have experienced the fountain show from this side, I will say that I do prefer it from the other side.
Either way it is still beautiful.

Christmas is in the air here too.
They have this giant ornament you can walk inside.

I think it looks so lovely.

They also have this curved walkway which has walls of fountains on either side.
It is so neat.
I don't know how long it's been here but I've never seen it before.

Of course that meant we needed to take a selfie with it.

We were a little hungry so decided to find a place to eat.
We settled on California Pizza Kitchen just outside of New York, New York.

They gave us bread and olive oil to start.
The olive oil was super good - they had some kind of spices on it and I mopped it all up.

We ordered white corn guacamole that looked kind of strange when it arrived.
I was concerned but it was delicious - I would get this again absolutely.

My Honey had jambalaya - he loves the stuff, I on the other hand can easily live without it.

I had the Thai Crunch salad which was so tasty - it had some crunch and that thai peanuty, sweet & spicy flavor that I love.
However, it was super spicy - my lips were burning while I was eating it.
I kept taking breaks but with each bite it got hotter and hotter so much so that eventually I had to give up and I couldn't eat it.
I was super disappointed though because aside from that it tasted so good.

This was on the ceiling in California Pizza Kitchen.

It is just made out of old pallets and I think it looks great.
I am always looking for ideas for when we build our "Taste of the Country" barn in PEI and I think this is an awesome one.

The wall outside of the washrooms looks so cool.
I am not sure what it is made with, just all differant tiles I think but the effect is great.

Finished off the day with all green again today.

It's been a great trip.
We still have some time tomorrow before we fly out but essentially the trip has come to an end.

It might be some time before we come back but I am certain that we will be back.
There is just so much to see and do here.
It's also a short plane ride here from home and the weather is great so it is an ideal vacation destination for sure.

Until next time, be happy!
