Off to Nova Scotia (Oct.7, 2025)

Mel posted this picture of Hunter today.

He's started going to Tae Kwon Do.

We are flying out to NS tonight so I found a book for myself to listen to.

The Wedding People.

I had to work today - when I got home I finished packing and made a snackle box for Freya for the plane.

Jason got off work a bit early and we headed into the city.

Once we got through security we decided to go get something to eat.

Neither of us like Boston Pizza but Freya insisted that's where she wanted to go.

It was ok.

Burning off some energy while we were waiting for our flight.

Starting to get a little tired, that's good though, hopefully she will sleep on the plane.

We were on the red eye to NS and both Jason and Freya did fall asleep.
I slept a tiny bit, not much.
I have a hard time sleeping on the plane.

I'm so excited - I love this time of year in NS.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Last Minute Addition to our Vacation Itinerary (Oct.6, 2025)

Monday means weigh in day.

I was 230.6 lbs today.

I was a little disappointed because even though I didn't track my food on the WW app, I thought I was really careful over the weekend, didn't indulge, went to the gym.

I was down slightly so I guess that's good but my goodness, I'd just like to make it under 230 lbs.

I was super busy at work again today trying hard to clean out my inbox and finish my to do list.
I didn't even take a lunch and ended up working late as well.

I finished up my latest audiobook today - The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches.
I enjoyed it.
Now I have to find something else to read.

Jason called today and asked what I thought about the idea of bring Freya with us on vacation seeing the teachers are on strike so she is out of school.
He checked and there were still seats left on our flights.

So we checked it out with Kody & Haylee - they both agreed that we could take her so I called WestJet and got her added to our trip.
It's exciting.
I love taking her to new places and having her experience new places.

It's dye time again.
Jason had to work and then get a run in so it was late when he started putting the dye in my hair for me but I really wanted it done before we headed out on our trip.

Gray is gone thanks to my personal hair stylist - Jason.
I'm so appreciative that he does it for me.

One of these days I'll go to a salon but it's so expensive that I just keep putting it off and opting to do a box dye.

I checked us all in for our flight then it was off to bed.
I'd hoped to pack tonight but ran out of time so that will be on the agenda for tomorrow before we head out.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

New Curtains, Autumn's Glory (Oct.5, 2025)

I got up this morning and got straight to work hanging up my new curtains.

I had pink ones in our bedroom with a white rod.

Then my dining room ones had a bronze color rod.
I decided that the bronze color rod would look better in the bedroom with the new green curtains and the white rod from the bedroom would look better in the dining room.

So I had to take down all the hardware and switch it but I'm glad I did.
I think the green curtains do look better with the bronze rod.

My cats like to scratch at my curtains, they like to sit in my bedroom window and look out the window so they try to move the curtains if they are in the way.
So I tied them up like this for now hoping that would discourage them from scratching and I've ordered some curtain tie backs.

The white rod does look better in the kitchen.

But I'm not sure if I love these curtains or not.
I think I need another set to make it look fuller but they were expensive and I don't love them so I'm going to keep looking.
Maybe I'll just end up making some.
I'd like a valance of some sort to cover up the top of the window pane, I don't like how it looks.

Once I got that all done, I headed out for a walk.

My legs are really hurting from the workout yesterday so I figured I'd keep moving to stop them from seizing up.

It was slow going but I walked 6k.

The trees are still in all of their Fall glory..

We mostly just get yellows here but it's still pretty.

The leaves are starting to fall off of the trees though - that's sad.

Don't all those yellows look so stunning against the gorgeous blue sky?

It was a hard walk but I'm proud I got it done.

I ordered a new light fixture for our dining room  - I don't like the one we have in there now.
I couldn't decide if I should go with the black or the gold so I got Jason's opinion.
He picked black which I was leaning toward anyway.
Canada Post is on strike right now so not sure if that will affect delivery or not but I'm hoping when we get back from vacation that it will be here.

My Aunt Marjorie sent me these pictures of my Dad when he was little.

I already had them but I still love them.
I miss him so much - wish he was still here.

I decided to get my Halloween decorations out and put them up since the day is almost here.

I took down some of my other 'everyday' decor and packed it away to make room.
I always put it away when I take out Christmas stuff so I'm just doing it a bit earlier.

I thought I had more Fall/Halloween stuff honestly.
I might make some more if I time before Halloween gets here.

I love this bat dish I found last year.

Even did some decorating in the kitchen.

This looks a little bare, I need to add something to it so I'll be on the hunt.

Then Haylee called to say that the girls were asking to come for a visit.
We hadn't seen them all weekend so of course we wanted to see them and Jason went over and picked them up.

Enjoying a popsicle with Papa.

She loves popsicles.

Freya was passing the time waiting for her noodles to cook.

Look at this little character.

She cracks me up.

She was just hamming it up for the camera.

They spent the weekend in Barrhead - they were celebrating Papa Lloyd's 68th birthday.

They went to a pumpkin patch/farm too and had some fun there.

Haylee did a photo shoot with the girls at Lloyd and Rita's.

Playing in the leaves.

I love how they turned out.

Miss Freya - my beautiful girl.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Helicopter Ride (Oct.4, 2025)

We almost talked ourselves out of going to the gym again but not quite.

Jen is seeing a trainer so she had a workout that she's been doing and we did that.

As soon as we did the first set of squats I could feel it in my legs so I know I'm going to be hurting tomorrow.

After our workout, we got ready to head over to my sister's work.

They were having family day and she had signed us up to go for a helicopter ride.

Heading to the Griffon.

There it is.

I had my very important equipment - ear plugs and a vomi bag just in case.
Spoiler Alert - I didn't need it.

Jen and Declan were sitting in the back with a couple other people

I was sitting up front with just the flight guys.

I had a great view out the front window.

Lift off.

We flew over towards the downtown area of Edmonton.

You can see all the tall buildings off in the distance.

All the homes - I'm not sure which part of Edmonton this was.

This was as close as we got to downtown

You can see the river there.

Pretty cool.

Jen enjoying the ride.

It was only about a 15 minute ride but it was fun.
They did a landing out in the field then they did some tactical maneuvers just to make it interesting.

There was some equipment out that you could go and take a closer look at.

A robotic device - I should have asked what it was for but didn't think of it.

Looks like a vehicle for the dessert.

Quite a step up to get in there.

Jen and Declan went in and checked it out.

Tried another one - don't think that would be a very comfortable ride if you had to go for a long distance.

Jen and Declan.
He wasn't into the whole thing at the get go - it took a lot of coaxing but I think he was enjoying himself by the end.

Checking out some of the weapons.

I tried out the rocket launcher.

It wasn't as heavy as I was expecting but he showed me how to cock it and there is no way I would ever be able to do that by myself, he had to do it for me.

Learning about some of the other guns they have.

Jen knows how to handle a gun.
My sister has done so well in her career - I'm very proud of her.

Declan. and Jen.

It was nice to go to Jen's work and see the people she works with.
It felt nostalgic to me - growing up with a dad that was in the military we went to many family days over the years and they are good memories for me.

We left there and headed to Ikea which I've been trying to get to for weeks now.

I got some curtains for my bedroom - went with a dark green color.
Then a quick stop at Homesense - one more try to find those curtains.
I didn't find them but I did find some new pillows for my bed.

I've gotten to the age where I'm super fussy about my pillows and having the wrong pillow makes for a terrible night's sleep.

Then I headed back home.
I got back to Swan Hills around 9 pm.

I had a bit of time to visit with Jason before heading to bed.
I'm testing out my new pillow tonight.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
