Hard Luck Canyon (June 27, 2020)

We woke up to miserable grey skies and rain, rain and more rain.
We thought we'd throw the bikes in the back of the truck and just drive somewhere sunny and ride them but we checked out the weather all over Alberta today and it looked pretty much the same every where.

So we scrapped that plan and just headed to WCT to do some grocery shopping.

BN and his sister were there as well so we met them and had a bit of a visit.
It was nice to see JM, I hadn't seen her quite some time.
She's always happy and fun to talk to - full of funny stories.

We made stops at Walmart, No Frills and Canadian Tire.
I was looking for a couple of trees but the garden centers have pretty much closed up shop, what they do have left doesn't look very healthy.
I did find a cherry tree that looked good - it was a bit more than I wanted to spend but I just got it anyway.

By the time we finished shopping, the rain had stopped so we took the opportunity to check this place out.
We went to Subway and picked up some subs then headed over there.
It's about a 10 minute drive from WCT and I never even knew it existed until my niece told me about it a couple months ago.
I've been wanting to check it out ever since.

Hard Luck Canyon.

There is the map.

We just started walking.

Everything was so nice and green.

The trail was really nice.

Lots of stairs.

Looking down into the canyon.

Mother Nature is just the best artist isn't she?

The wild roses were all in bloom and you could smell them.

Stairs down into the canyon.

Such a gentleman - he carried my purse for me.

That's the bridge we were just looking down from minutes ago.

Waterfalls are always so pretty.

Just nature's beauty as far as the eye could see.

This is what you walk into when you get to the bottom of the stairs.

Another view of the waterfall - I just walked up a bit closer to it.

It would be a nice place to do some exploring - I didn't really have the best shoes on for doing that today.

He was braver than I going out to those rocks in the middle of the water.

We found a nice rock to sit on so we could eat our subs.

Picnic lunch in these beautiful surroundings with this handsome guy!

A few last pictures.

Something pretty about those tree stumps.

Look how calm and clear that water is.

Tried a panoramic picture of the canyon.

Climbing up the stairs was much harder than going down.
I was breathing so hard when I got to the top - made me feel so out of shape.

There were lots of wildflowers in bloom.
Like these bluebells.

There was a lookout section that looked down into another canyon area.

The Indian Paintbrushes were looking particularly pretty today.

More wild roses.

This one wasn't open yet - the dark pink color was so pretty.

Buttercups.
Who else held these up under their chin to see if they 'liked butter'?

The wild roses were every where.

The cherry tree we picked up.

There was a huge patch of wild strawberries right by where we'd parked the truck.
I love wild strawberries.

We hit the road and just in time because it started sprinkling again.
We stopped at the casino but neither of us had any luck there.

After we got the groceries put away, we decided to go for a quick bike ride.

It was sprinkling out a bit but we didn't let that stop us.

It felt good to get out there - I wish it would get easier faster but I'm not letting that stop me.
Incidentally - when I got this sweatshirt, I loved it but it was too tight around my belly and I felt uncomfortable wearing it.
I can tell that it feels much looser and that feels good!

We watched another Harry Potter movie this evening.
Only two more left to go.

My WW Connect Daily Reason Why today.
Ok so this might be too much information but...
There are some bathroom stalls that I've been in that I just did NOT have enough room to wipe properly which just made me feel so huge.
Not a good feeling at all.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
