Getting the Old Peepers Checked Out (June 1, 2018)

This morning seemed to fly by at the office.

I weighed in just as a check before heading in to the city for an appointment with a laser therapist.

I also brought a biscuit for breakfast - I loaded it up with raspberry jam and it was delicious.

I had an appointment at the optometrist this afternoon so had to leave early to make it there in time.
We went to a new one in Barrhead that a co-worker recommended, Dr. Balen.

I was pleased with him.
He was very thorough and I didn't feel like he rushed us through our appointments.
I went first and My Honey went after me.

He told me that I am at the point now where I require some assistance with reading so I need bifocals or progressives.

Surprisingly there hasn't been much change in my prescription for my near sightedness.
While My Honey was in getting his exam, I picked out a few pair of glasses.
I can't order them quite yet but I got all the measurements completed so I can call back later and order them when I have the money.

We left there and headed in to the city where I had another appointment lined up.
This time for laser therapy to help with weight loss.
I wasn't sure what to expect but my mom's friend, DM, had used the therapy to quit smoking and so I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot.

When I spoke to the lady that does the therapy, she told me I needed to come in for a session a week for three weeks in a row.
I could do a second round of three more sessions afterwards as well if I wanted to.
It was $195.00 for the three sessions.

It was quite informal.
She works out of her home, her husband is a professional photographer and works out of the home as well.
When I was on the bed getting the therapy, My Honey was there watching and we were all chatting.
She told me the therapy is just like acupuncture but with lasers instead of needles.
I just sat on the bed and she pointed the laser at different places, like spots in my ear, on my feet, legs, and hands.
She said it should help with controlling my appetite and increasing my metabolism.
She said it may take a bit to start working.
We'll see how it goes but I am optimistic.

They have a lovely old home downtown and they had gorgeous lilacs outside their porch.
The lilacs were huge, bigger than what I am used to seeing.
They smelled just lovely as well.

We had chatted about spots to eat and she suggested the Prairie Noodle House.
My Honey had just read about it too and it was just around the corner so when the treatment was completed (it took about 15 - 20 minutes), we headed over that way.

It was an unassuming little place in the downstairs of the building.
If someone hadn't recommended it, I likely would never even have known it was there.

They've been voted "Best Ramen"

Sounds like there ice cream is good too so we'll have to give it a go.

It was quiet when we got there.

My Honey was excited for the ramen.

I was excited to be trying somewhere new.

We ordered edamame and baos for appetizers.

The edamame had a strong lemon flavor which was delicious and I commented on it as the chef was walking by and he informed me it was actually yuzu, which is a form of citrus so I wasn't too off.
I just loved them.

The Baos were so good too.

Soft and pillowy like a cloud.
We tried two different kinds and both were delicious.

My Honey also ordered this Intergalactic Rootbeer.
It was different but in a good way.

Then we each got a bowl of soup.

Mine had a miso base.  I love the ramen noodles in it.

We had to try the dessert as well.

They had homemade ice cream.

We tried the Dragon Kiss and the Fire & Ice flavors.

Dragon Kiss had quite the kick to it, kind of left the back of your throat on fire a bit.

The Fire & Ice was half Dragon Kiss with half mint and it was a perfect combination.
You'd get that spicy kick but then the mint would kind of knock it down a bit.

We will definitely be back here to eat again.
So glad that we tried it.

When we got back to where we'd parked, I realized that I still had a lot of steps to go if I wanted to reach my 10,000 goal for the day so we went for a walk around the streets there.

I love it when the trees line the streets this way and create kind of a canopy.

There were some very beautiful homes in the area.

I like the unusual shape of this one.

Lots of them had lilacs.
These are more of the size that I am used to.

It's funny how we notice brick work more now that we did the fireplace with brick.
I thought it was interesting how they left the mortar on this brick work and didn't clean it up and make it flush.
I am not so sure that I like the look but it certainly is different.

We left there and headed over to St Albert for a movie.
We planned on seeing Solo at 7 pm then Life of the Party at 10:20 but NC/T gave me a call and we chatted so long in the truck with her that by the time we got in to buy our tickets, they didn't have any left together so we bought some for Life of the Party and left to find something to do to pass some time.

We found a Chapters and wandered around in there for a while.
I was looking for a blanket for baby that has numbers on it for months.
Everyone is using them for backgrounds for taking pictures of baby the first year.
The only one I could find wasn't very girly so I'll keep looking.

My Honey picked up a couple books and still had lots of time to pass so we went over to the casino in St Albert.
We gambled a little, neither of us won but we were done and heading out we could hear this band playing.
They sounded good and I wanted to watch them a bit so we got a table at the restaurant there and ordered some nachos.
We watched their set and it was pretty good.
They had a couple more sets to go but we had to head back to the theatre.

About 5 minutes into the movie I could tell that it wasn't going to be good.
I was right.
It was disappointing, I really like Melissa McCarthy but this movie unfortunately was a flaming turd.

I had about 300 more steps to go to get to my daily goal and I knew it would be after midnight when we got out so I cheated a little and did arm curls until I bumped it up over the 10,000 mark.
Still a form of exercise though so I don't feel that badly about it.

On the way to the hotel, this oldie that I love came on.

We checked into the hotel after the movie and went straight to bed.

😏😏😏
That is all for today, until next time, be happy.
