Happy Retirement JR! (May 31, 2018)

I had considered walking to work this morning but it was cold out when I got up so I nixed that idea.
My Honey had to go to WCT this morning for an H2S course so he headed out when I did.
Work was normal, busy.
I brought a biscuit for breakfast hoping that there would be some jam here at the office to eat it with but there wasn't.
So I saved it and had a couple of eggs instead.
At lunch I stopped by the store for jam and wrapping paper.
We are having a retirement supper for one of our field guys and I needed to wrap his gift.

I had leftovers for lunch.

And a biscuit with jam.

My Honey went out for lunch to the casino and sent me a picture of his lunch that looks delicious.
I did have a biscuit for lunch now that I had jam and I watched most of an episode of Call the Midwife.
I was busy running reports all afternoon and it kind of flew by.
I didn't get as much walking in as I would have liked.

When I got home I wrapped up Jamie's gift.

I watched the rest of the episode I'd started at lunch then I headed out to the golf course for the retirement supper.

I stopped at the store to pick up a cake and I also got treats for Oreo who happens to be JR's dog.

He came to work everyday with JR so in essence he has retired as well!
I knew I was picking up something for him so I had a gift bag ready to go.

We had a really good turnout, I was impressed.

The golf club was packed.

I don't think there was an empty chair in the house.

The lucky retiree.

I enjoyed hanging out with SG, BH, SV and their hubbies.

My Honey didn't make it back in time to join me but that's ok.

BN was hanging too.

It's nice to be able to spend time with your co-workers outside of the work setting and actually enjoy doing it.

I am not sure that everyone is fortunate enough to have that but I work with a great group of people.

Supper was a little late being served so as soon as they announced it was ready there was a line up.

The place got quiet once everyone got their meals.

I think they all enjoyed the meal.

They made turkey dinner and it's hard to go wrong with that.

There were salads too.

After supper it was time for speech's.

And gifts.

I think BL did a great job.

I think JR was enjoying himself too.

We had invited some of his former coworkers that had retired before him and it was nice to see them out.

It was the first time in all the years that I've worked with JR that I'd met his wife and children.

He liked his gift too.
I don't blame him, it was an apple laptop.

He said his little thank you speech.

There was a little mingling and socializing after supper.

Nothing better than seeing lots of smiles.

The guys were having a good time.
Soon enough it was time to head home though so I said my good-byes and left.

My Honey arrived home shortly before I did and even though it was already 8:30, I only had 5400 steps for the day so far so we went for a walk.
It felt a little chilly at first but warmed up as we went.

We came across a house for sale for 69,900.
It looks like a big place, might need some work inside but might be worth getting as an investment.
We peeked in the windows and around back and took the number down so we could call the realtor.

I had to make a washroom pit stop at the house again.
I think when I get out to walk, it gets everything moving around.

I still had 500 more steps to get to 10,000 so we went back out until I felt my fitbit vibrating in celebration of reaching the step goal.
Then we headed back to the house.

My Honey promptly began loving on Professor Snuggles.
He said he missed him so much because he had to spend so much of the day away from him, ha ha!

He says he loves it but I think he looks terrified.

My Honey is happy though.

I saw these banana treats on Facebook and think I would like to make them sometime for the kids.

Giraffes.

Penguins

Beavers.

Moose.

Even little deer.
They are so cute and I don't think they would be that hard to make.

It was after 9 by the time we got home from our walk and I was tired so off to bed I went.
My Honey tucked me in and I was out like a light.

😮😮😮

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!

  1. Happy retirement!! It was a brilliant post. I visited my uncle and aunt after a long time and got to know about uncle’s retirement so made plan of a surprise party so that he can spend quality time with entire family. Booked an affordable LA venue for this bash and party was executed in a fun way.

    1. Thank you.
Not everyone gets to enjoy retirement so when they do, it's fun to celebrate.
