Emergency Vet Visit (Oct.14, 2020)

My Honey started days off today so he met me this morning for my walk.

His bike has a flat tire so he had to walk down.
He is going to have a look at it when he gets home to see if he can fix it.

He made pasta noodles from scratch this morning.

Then added them to a veggie ramen that he created.
I had it for lunch and it was really good.

He was able to get his tire on his bike repaired so he went for a bike ride this afternoon.
He stopped by my son's place and they were outside playing.
Baby F was playing shy even though my son said she'd been asking all day to go over to see Grandma and Papa.

He told them he was making pasta for supper and invited them over.

Baby F was loving her supper.

She really likes noodles.

After supper, we all needed to work off some calories.

She's perfected some really good moves. 😁

She really is a little jokester and loves to tease.
She was pretending to give something to My Honey.

Then she would take it back away and giggle and giggle.

She wanted to play with food coloring in the water and that escalated quickly.
We let her have a little bath and she had fun playing around.
She was looking in the mirror and noticed my little wooden birds and wanted them.

Tweet, Tweet.
(Making bird noises)

My son and Miss H had went out for a walk so when they were done, he came back to pick up Baby F.
We asked her if she wanted to sleep over this Saturday - we are excited to have her again for the night.

My mom was organizing some of her things and came across these pictures of my son.
I made him this Elvis costume when he was about 3.
He was so darn stinkin' cute!

Then when he was about 10/11, he wore my high school prom dress for Halloween.
He made a cute little girl.

Professor Snuggles peed outside of the litter box back when our water heater conked out and he hasn't really done it since then but I have been noticing that he's been sitting kind of funny sometimes for the past little while.

Sometimes it looks like he is in a position where he is trying to pee but when I check under him, it isn't wet.

Today My Honey noticed it too but much more significantly.
He's squatting, trying to pee but only drops are coming out.

So we googled it and found that it could be a blockage and that it could be dangerous, especially for a male cat.
So of course we were very concerned.

I called the emergency vet in WCT around 9:30.
He took about a half hour to call me back and basically said that if it had been going on for a week, it might be best to bring him in.

So 10 pm, we got him into his crate and hopped in the car for the 1 hour drive to WCT.
Professor Snuggles cried most of the way down - it sounded so sad and pathetic.

Especially since he isn't normally a very vocal cat.
It's very rare to hear him meow or anything.

He did NOT like being in that crate.

So glad we took him though because his bladder was full and very tight.
The vet tried to squeeze some of the urine out but only a very little came out so he had to extract some with a needle.
He got two whole vials full and probably could have got more but PS needed a break.

He was not impressed!

The vet gave him a couple shots and some meds and gave us like 5 prescriptions to take home and give him for the next 2 weeks (two of them are meant to be long term).
You could tell he was already starting to feel better.
We ended up being there quite awhile, it was nearly 1 am when we got in the car to head back home.
PS barely made a peep when we put him back in the crate and he only made a couple cries on the way home.
It ended up being a $431.00 dollar visit but we feel more at ease.

We think we might make an appointment to take him to another vet on Monday - our regular vet.
We would have taken him last night but didn't think he did emergency calls.
He's no frills and we know he isn't trying to gauge us, I feel (maybe incorrectly) that some vets do that.
We want to make sure all the prescriptions are necessary and just see what he has to say.

For now though, our kitty is feeling a bit better and so are we.
We know what the signs are now and we'll keep a closer eye on him for symptoms.

My Honey had turned on the heating blanket when we left so the bed was nice and cozy and warm when I finally hopped into it!

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
