My Running is Improving (July 30, 2023)

I didn't know what I was going to do with myself today now that Freya's room is all done but I know it felt good to get up and not feel rushed.

I had a coffee and watched you YouTube for a bit.

Jason is making lasagna out at work for the guys today - looks yummy.

He also made them garlic toast.

He grilled it then added herb and garlic dip to the top - what a great idea.

After my coffee, I headed out for my run.
It was a lovely day out there.
I did have to stop down at the office for a bathroom break but aside from that - it was a lovely run.
I felt good and strong and like I'm making so much progress.
I ended up running just over 6k.

My exercise details.

My average pace and splits.

Gorgeous day for a run and I was feeling great!

When I got home, I decided to hop in a nice hot bath.
I started a new book too.

Plain Truth.
It's about a newborn baby being found dead in an Amish Community.
I didn't get that far into it but so far I'm really liking it.

When Nadine got home from the lake today, I met her over at Kody's and showed her Freya's completed bedroom.

Rob came over for supper, he, Mom and I ordered some food from Sammy's (Mom and I shared a Caesary Salad) then we went down and put Mom's room and the spare room for my sister and the boys back together.

Mom had hauled everything out of them to shampoo the carpets then moved her double bed over to the spare room to make room for her single bed that is coming on Thursday.

I have a few large things I need to get taken to the dump on Tuesday and I need Jason to finish up the shower then we will be all ready to go.

My sister will be getting her on Friday night then we are going to spend the weekend in the city.
I'm so looking forward to seeing her and the boys.

Aside from that, it was a pretty chill day.
I watched a couple episodes of Outlander - I'm way behind.
I think I'm still in Season Five and Season Seven is out now.

I'll get caught up though.

When Jason got home from work, he made us some ice cream then we had a pretty early night.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Freya's Room Make Over is Complete! (July 29, 2023)

I got up this morning, had my coffee then got right back at it with the frames.

I glued all the mold pieces I'd made onto the frames then I made cutouts of each frame with craft paper.

I numbered them so I knew which cut out when with each frame and I also put on the cut out exactly where the nail needed to go.

Then I headed over to the house to get them put up.

I figured out where center was and just started hanging them but it was a little hard to do myself with just a measuring tape.
Also, I realized afterwards that I actually have 12 pictures so I shouldn't have started in center.
I was a little frustrated with it and I wasn't sure how I was going to get everything straight and lined up and so I was talking to Jason about it and he suggested I leave it and he'd come over and help me with it after work so I decided to do just that.

I did get the drawer pulls put back on the dresser.
I also put a bunch of Freya's stuff back in the room.

I found this mirror in the spare bedroom and considered painting it pink or black to put up in the room.
I ended up skipping that - I was just wanting to get things done at this point and didn't want to add another project.

I finished up what I could then headed back home.

I watched this movie I've been wanting to watch for a while - Champions.
It was ok.

Jason found some little egg shells from a newly hatched baby bird out at work.

I needed a bunch of steps but I didn't feel like running so I just hopped on the treadmill and walked.
After 50 minute of walking, my hip was starting to hurt a little bit so I got off and had a bit of a break.

I had the munchies all day so I went upstairs and had a bite to eat.

Then I went back down and hopped on the treadmill for another 30 minutes or so to get the rest of my steps in.

I was feeling tired today so I was happy that I got the steps in so I could just go veg.
I was snacking all day long - I wasn't eating anything high calorie but I just kept feeling like I wanted something.
Not sure if I was really hungry or just bored?

When Jason got home, we headed back over to Kody's to get the pictures put up.
Together we figured out the measurements and the grid and put up the tape.
Then at each of the intersections of the tape, we put up the craft paper cut out of each picture.

You could see exactly where to put the nail in and we just nailed right over the paper.

Then we put the pictures up right over the paper to make sure it all looked good and it fit.
It did.
It was a lot of prep work but it worked so slick - only one nail for each picture and everything looked great.

So then we took all the paper off and the tape and voila - I was super pleased with how it turned out.

I'm glad we were finally able to use these pictures too.
We picked them up years ago in Saskatoon when we went there for a color run and there happened to be a Comic Con going on.

I had always planned on putting them up in my craft room but I think this is a much better use.

Just some close ups pf the molds I added to the frames to fancy them up a bit.

I think they add just enough details to the frames to keep them from being too plain.

I was so happy to finally get some good use out of my molds.

Using the glue gun in them worked awesome too - I don't like using the clay because I never use enough of it and it ends up drying out on me so I'm always wasting so much of it.

I do think that I need to get a better glue gun though - one that heats up the glue faster although what I did works.

We got the bed set up.
We had both the box spring and the mattress on but it was way too high so we took the box spring off and just left the mattress.

I got her this fuzzy black duvet set - I was just going to put a comforter inside it that she already had but she runs hot so I just put the duvet on with nothing inside it.
It's so furry and soft - I think she will like it.

Jason brought over Thing too and put it in the room for her.
You can see it sitting on the cube shelf behind him.

So it's all finished up - The black drawer pulls look so good on the dresser.

The bed looks so inviting.

The chandelier makes such a pretty pattern on the ceilings and wall.
I'm glad it's all done - it was a lot of work.
I hope she loves it - I can't wait for her to see it.

Meanwhile they stopped at the Terry Fox monument.

The girls were excited because they said they 'knew this guy from school'.

What Terry Fox did was so amazing and now that I run myself, I have an even greater understanding of how great his accomplishment was.
He ran the equivalent of a marathon a day, day after day.
I ran one marathon and then it's taken me nearly a year to get back to running regularly again.
He's pretty amazing.

The girls.

They are in Ontario so like a couple more days of driving before they get home.
I'm figuring later in the day on Monday.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Teeth Whitening and Room is Coming Along (July 28, 2023)

I had an appointment in Whitecourt at 9 am this morning to get my teeth whitened.
I was up early and had a coffee then I headed there.

Here's a before picture of how my teeth were looking.

A zoom in so you can see the before color better.

Getting this blue thing in my mouth was a bit difficult but we managed.

It really gave her a good view of my teeth and gums.

She had to cover up all my gums and fleshy parts so they didn't get burned by the whitening gel.

My mouth is really packed with napkins.
She did a great job covering my gums up.

Then it was off to the races.
She would cover the teeth with the whitening gel then put the light on it for 15 minutes.
Then she would clean off the gel and repeat the whole process.
She did it four times.
My teeth are sensitive so I was expecting some pain but I had none at all.

I was freezing though - I had to tell her and she got me a blanket and brought a little space heater into the room for us (she said she was cold too).

And for the last session, my head was getting really sore so she gave a pillow and that helped so much, I wished I'd asked for it sooner!

Then it was all done.

They do look much whiter.
I'm pleased with the outcome.

It cost me 500 but we got extra money in our health care spending account at work and I'm hoping it will be covered through that.

I left there and went to do a bit of shopping.
I had a few things I wanted to pick up to finish off Freya's room.

I didn't have a whole lot of luck finding all of the things that I wanted but I did get a few things.

Then I headed over to the Rotary Park to go for a run.
I wanted to run 5k and ended up running 6k.
It was hard but it felt good.

The exercise details.

My average pace and splits.

Always feels good to finish up a run.

I did a bit more shopping after my run then I picked up a sandwich from Tim Horton's for my breakfast/lunch and headed home.

I went over to Kody's and washed all the stickers off of the bed - there was some paint chipped off in places so I painted those up then I started putting a few things into the room.

I hung up the bookshelf that I painted.
I had a hard time with that for some reason, I was using wall anchors and I was trying to hammer them in but they kept squishing on me.
So I ran over to the hardware and bought some metal ones that you screw in and those worked much better for me.
I got the curtains put up then I also brought this little cube shelf in and added in the pink cubby's that I picked up.
I thought I needed 6 for some reason when I actually needed 9 but I just used some baskets she already had to fill in the other 3 sections.

I also glued some shelf liner to the back of the book shelf I'd painted and got that brought into the room.
I took the drawer pulls off the dresser and took them home so I could spray paint them black.
Then I got the bed brought in and put up.

I think it's coming along really well.
I need Jason to cut some wood pieces for the bed so the box spring will have something to sit on and then after that all I really have left to do is make the bed and get the pictures put up.

It was after 9 when we got home again and I worked on getting the rest of the frames done.
I'd picked up the rest of what I needed today so I made molds for them and just spraypainted the molds themselves.
I'll let them dry overnight then glue them on tomorrow.
I also spray painted the drawer pulls.
And I got all of the pictures put into the frames so they'll be ready to go in the morning.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
