From Snow to Sunshine - Hello Las Vegas! (Mar.30, 2022)

The hotel we stayed at included a complimentary breakfast so we took advantage of that in the morning.

It was a buffet with very limited options but as it was free, we weren't complaining.

They had eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, sausage and ham.
I would have preferred bacon but the ham was pretty good.

My curls stayed in overnight for the most part but if I have time this morning, I think I may go pick myself up a small straightener and see if I can figure out the curling thing.

My marathon training schedule called for a rest day today but of course I wanted to get my 1 mile run in so right after breakfast I headed to the gym at the hotel and hopped on the treadmill to get that done.

I had a view of the pool while I ran.

Looks like a pretty cool slide.

2 km's done for the day!

Video Check In.

I popped back to the room, washed up, changed then ran to pick up a few things while Jason went out for a run.

While I was out and about, I saw this punch buggy and I just loved the color.

I did find a straightener and I tried to do the curling thing with it when I got back to the room but I could not figure it out.
I even watched a couple of YouTube videos that showed how to do it but I just could not get it figured out.

We asked for a late checkout and by noon we were sitting by the hotel entrance waiting for the shuttle to take us to the airport.

We had to show our proof of vaccinations and our negative covid tests in order to fly but it really all went smoothly and we made it through security in no time.
This is our first time flying with Flair so we weren't sure what to expect but all was good.

Ours was the only international flight departing from Edmonton today so the restaurant options were limited.
In fact, Chili's was the only choice so that's where we went.
I ordered an extra spicy virgin caesar to kick off this vacation.

Then we shared a quesadilla explosion salad.

and a chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich.
Both were really good.

I hadn't seen hide nor hair of Bonnie, John, Nadine and Karl and I wasn't even sure if Nadine had gotten her passport yet.
Last I heard on Monday she still didn't have it so I was concerned but Jason said he figured it would all work out and it did.
Right after we finished eating, they showed up.
They ordered a bite to eat as well and our flight ended up being delayed by an hour so they had plenty of time to eat.

Jason splurged and got us seats right at the front of the plane so we had plenty of leg room which was awesome.

On our way.

Leaving the snow behind.

For the warm, dry desert.

Flair's color is a bright lime green which I kind of dig.

Flying in to Las Vegas.

Oh Mr. Sun, how happy I am to see you.

Landing in Vegas, let the good times begine!

We caught the shuttle to the airport car rental center then found out that the place I reserved the car from (Fox) was actually at another location so we had to take another shuttle to get there.

I had reserved a van since there were so many of us and while I was in getting the car rental finalized, the rest were outside making friends with the folks that worked there.

Good thing too - the fellow I was dealing with told me I could pick any vehicle in this certain section so when I went out, I asked the guy the rest of them had been making friends with which of the vans was the best and he said 'none of them' , ha ha!

He said wait here and I'll go get you something good!
That was nice of him!

Jason did all the driving on our last trip but it looks like I'm going to be the chauffeur this time around.

We next went to the hotel to check in.
We are all staying at Harrah's and we all upgraded to King rooms for $10/night so check in took a bit.
Then we all went to our rooms to drop off luggage and unpack.

It was close to 9 when we met back in the hotel lobby and we were all hungry so we decided to go find somewhere to eat.
We had to stop by the Las Vegas couple statue that I love to take pictures.
First the girls.

Then the guys!

We found a brick fired pizza place called Flour and Barley between the Linq and the Flamingo.

First meal in Vegas - Pizza, and it was delicious.

Checking out the menu.

The Vegas Crew.

I ordered this brussels sprouts appetizer and it was amazingly delicious.

Then Jason got the Farm House and I got the Goat Cheese.

The Goat Cheese had garlic, olive oil, pecorino roman, goat cheese, rocket arugula, candy pecans and balsamic vinegar.
It was ok.
Thinking back on it now though, I think they forgot to put the pecans on it.

I liked Jason's Farm House pizza better than the one I had.
It had mozzarella, smoked bacon, cotto ham, fennel sausage, roasted onion and a farm egg up on top.

We were all too full for any dessert so we skipped that.

Afterwards we all hung out and gambled a bit at Harrah's casino.
I found this piggy game that I really liked and ended up winning about 90 bucks on it.
Not a bad way to start off the trip.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
