Hobby Lobby, Outlet Shopping, Cosmopolitan and Bellagio Fountains & Conservatory - Vegas Trip Is Under Way (Mar.31, 2022)

So even though I'm on vacation in Las Vegas, marathon training continues.

Jason and I were both up early and we hit the strip for our run this morning.

We checked out the distance to the Strat and it's about 3 or so km away from Harrah's so we decided to run there and back.

Jason of course is faster so he was way ahead of me pretty quickly.

There are lots of roads on the Strat that you can only cross by going up and over an overpass and I wasn't sure how many I would encounter on my route but luckily it was only one.

I checked my distance when I got to the Strat and I was only at 3.2k so I had to keep running a bit past it to get to 3.5 k.

I had planned on taking some footage of the strip while I was running but man, that's hard.
Kudos to all those people that do it.
Even just taking a picture while running was a struggle and it isn't that flattering either, ha ha.

Run is done, heading back to Harrah's.

I ran just over 7 km.

My average heart rate was 159 bpm which is about normal for me.

My average pace was 7.35, I had to stop for a few lights so I think that had an affect but it is what it is.

Marathon training - 7 km run on the Vegas strip!

I went back to my room, showered up and met the rest of the Vegas crew in the casino.
We were going out for breakfast then to do some shopping at Hobby Lobby.
I am SO EXCITED!

We all went to Black Bear Diner last time we came together 5 years ago and we all really enjoyed it so we decided to try it again.
We remembered their delicious freshly squeezed orange juice.

Black Bear Diner - they have the best freshly squeezed orange juice that I have ever tasted!

The crew at the breakfast table.
Notice all the orange juice?
It was just as delicious as we all remembered.

I had the chicken fried steak with a side of bacon.
The chicken fried steak was just ok but everything else was yummy.

I also got a sweet cream pancake too and it was fantastic!

My favorite store and the reason this whole trip happened in the first place.
I was talking about how much I wanted Nadine and Bonnie to see it and I looked up trips and found they were really cheap and the whole thing snowballed from there.

A tour of the Hobby Lobby entrance.

These number cake toppers look so cool.

I was thinking I could maybe try to make some.

I did get some edible confetti for Morgan while I was there.
I got a few other things too.

It's almost like torture walking through Hobby Lobby because there are so many great things that I wish I could buy but I can only fit so much in my suitcase so I'm very limited.

Nadine and Bonnie agreed and they ended up liking Hobby Lobby just as much as I do,
Nadine actually bought a set of lamps she found for a good deal, not sure how she'll get them home but she'll figure it out.

We decided to get all of our shopping out of the way so after Hobby Lobby, we hit up the outdoor outlet stores.
We split up and said we would all meet back in an hour and the only store Jason and I made it to was Nike.

I have been wanting a dark pair but ended up with another light colored pair.

They are Nike Zoom Winflo's.
I can't wait to try them out on a run.

Jason got a new pair too.
We are just sneaker junkies lately!

I also got a couple tops and a pair of sandals for Freya.
I got them in a size 12, hopefully they fit her.

There was a shave ice place right outside of the Nike store so when we came out, we each got one.
Mine had orange, mango, passionfruit with a snow cap which is just condensed milk.
It was a perfect treat for a nice day.

We found a place to sit and eat them and to just enjoy the beautiful weather.

The rest of the crew after our shopping expedition.
While we were sitting there, these two elderly ladies came by and the one asked if she could leave the other with us while she ran a quick errand.
Turns out they were mother and daughter and the mother was legally blind so we sat and chatted with her while her daughter ran her errand.
She was a nice lady and the daughter was really quick.

Next we stopped by the Tickets Booth to see what they had for sale.
We wanted to see a show while we were here but we weren't sure what.

So we just took a shot of what was available so we could think on it.

For supper Jason suggested we hit up the foodcourt at the Cosmopolitan, it had a few places that he wanted to try.
So we headed in that direction.

We had to pass the Bellagio fountains on the way and they were about to start when we got there so of course we stopped to watch them.
Plus Jason had run back to our room to drop off our shopping bags so we figured it would give him a chance to catch up with us.

I straightened my hair this morning but I think this will be the last day I can keep the straight, it will be back to curly tomorrow.

I love my selfie stick, I was able to get some good candid shots of everyone.

Oh, Bonnie caught me!

Karl, Nadine, Bonnie and John.

Got the photographer into this photo.

Jason found us.

The Vegas crew.

The Bellagio Fountains - my favorite thing on the Vegas strip.

After watching the fountains, we carried on to the Cosmopolitan.
The food court which is called Block 16, has versions of several famous restaurants in it including Momofuku Bang Bar, Lardo and Hattie B's Hot Chicken.
Jason really wanted to try the hot chicken but the line up was huge.

I started off with a strawberry doughnut from District - it was good.

I also ordered a Spicy Pork Rice Bowl from Bang Bar.
I forgot to take a picture but it was really good.

The waitress was really nice too, she took my name for my order and when I said it was April, she asked when my birthday was, said hers was in April too then wished me a Happy Birthday.
She was genuinely nice.

Everyone else had opted to eat at Lardo's so I joined them there and got myself something else to eat.

I got the Pho French Dip which had shaved beef, hoisin, sambal mayo, thai basil and pho broth.
It tasted just like pho but on a bun.
It was ok.

I also got the Lardo Fires which had fried herbs and parmesan and OMG, I loved them.
I was kind of full by this point but I didn't want to stop eating them.

The chandelier at the Cosmopolitan.
So pretty.

Hard to get it all in a shot.

We took the long way around to the escalators to go back down and passed this cute little seating area, Down the Rabbit Hole.

Wish we'd seen this before we all sat at the bar to eat.

Love the kitty on the ceiling.

The smoking caterpillar was cute too.

We saw a milk so we couldn't pass it up.

We've tried it in New York before, it's pretty good.
They make ice cream out of cereal milk and they then top it with cereal too, we chose cornflakes.

We were both full so we just shared the one.

From there we decided to check out the Bellagio Conservatory since we had to walk back that way to get back to Harrah's.
We were lucky enough to pass just as the fountains were starting.

The Bellagio Fountains at night.

Standing on the other side of the fountains looking over at the Paris.

It looks so pretty at night with all the lights.

An evening stroll up to the Bellagio.

Love the corbell - every thing is so ornate.

The gorgeous colored glass ceiling in the Bellagio lobby.

It really is a pretty casino.

We've seen the display in the Conservatory before but I think it was the Christmas one that we saw.
They change it out 4 times a year and the vlogger that we watch, Travel Ruby, said this was the best one she's seen so we really wanted to see it.

It was quite busy in there.

The hot air balloons were my favorite.

The Bellagio Conservatory.

All the colors and flowers were just gorgeous.

I just can't imagine the enormous effort they go to in order to get this display created.

There was even a blimp.

And clouds.

Just so much to see every which way you looked.

Love that B on the balloon.

A frog.

My Honey and I.

I don't know what kind of flowers these are but they were pink and white and they were so pretty.

One last look back before heading over to Harrah's.

Me and the boys!

We left there and headed over to Harrah's were we hung out and did a bit of gambling in the casino then it was off to bed.
It was a good first full day.
Looking forward to the rest of the trip.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
