Fort St John For a Few Days (July 29, 2019)

I was up early to get ready to head out.
I got packed up and my MIL packed me a lunch then I said my good-byes and hit the road.

It was a beautiful day for driving and the highway I took was not busy at all.
It took about 2 hours to hit BC.

There was some pretty scenery along the way but I was driving so I couldn't really take any pictures.
I did snap this one quickly when I was at a stop but it's all I got.

I was hoping I'd get there without having to stop but my bladder ruined that plan.
I was wriggling around in the truck for about 40 minutes until I finally saw a place that I could stop at.
I always buy something at the places where I use the facilities so I bought some cookies.
I got monster cookies and oatmeal raisin ones and they were really good.
I snacked on those the rest of the way.

When I got to Fort St John (it took about 3 hours), I punched in the address I had for the office there and it took me to a building that was not the right building.
So then I googled the address for the office and when I punched it into the GPS - it said the address didn't exist.
So then I called the office and they gave me another address to punch into the GPS.
That took me to a location that was just a big field.
Ha ha - I was beginning to think I'd never get there.
So I called the girls I was going to train again and they just told me where to go and finally I was able to find it.

I was training to ladies - they were both nice.
I trained them all day.
Luckily I had that nice lunch from my MIL so I sat in the lunchroom with a few of the folks that worked there and it was good.
They were very friendly.

I asked one of the ladies for recommendations on where to eat and she gave me a few.
I ended up picking this place.

AudieLicious was the name of the place.
It opened recently - I looked up the reviews and they were good.

I had a bowl of cheeseburger soup.

Their specialty is seafood but I ended up getting a burger.

I like how they branded their name into the bun of the burger.

It's a nice place - I would eat there again.

Then I headed over to check into the hotel.

My home away from home for the next three nights.

I got on my jammies, popped into bed and watched some tv for the evening.

My Honey stayed at his parents again tonight,
Somebody had to help them out with all those desserts from the weekend.
He had a smorgasborg of them tonight.
That will put a little dent in things!

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!

Yard Sales & New Potatoes (July 28, 2019)

My Honey pulled the ribs out of the clay oven this morning and they smelled (and looked) delicious.

I think the puppies smelled that delicious aroma too!

Sam is quite the model now.
He is such a nice dog.

After breakfast, My Honey & I went for a drive into Manning.
I had a look around Fields but I didn't find anything I wanted.

We went back to the house so My Honey could finish off a few things and then we went and checked out a few yard sales and a near by salvage yard.

We didn't really get anything but we met some nice people.

Our supper spread.
My FIL got some more potatoes straight out of the garden and I can't get over how good they were.
They were Yukon Golds which are my favorite but I'd forgotten how creamy and fresh new potatoes can be.
Makes me want to go right home and plant some.

The ribs were delicious.

After supper we went for a walk and I saw some movement across the road.

It was a little froggy.

My Honey & I.

There was a storm brewing but we took a chance and it worked out.

It headed the other way and we were able to walk to the highway and back safely (and dryly).

When we got back to the house, I had a giant piece of gingerbread cake and it was so delightful.
We thought about watching the end of the movie from yesterday but we all three decided that we didn't really enjoy it and we didn't care enough to watch the other half of it.

My niece is feeding the cats for us and when she got to our place today, there was a little gift on the doorstep.
I think one of the neighborhood cats dropped it off for My Honey.

I saw this on a Facebook page today and just loved it.
The bee is made out of sculpting clay.
The store is an hour or so on the other side of Edmonton but I'd really like to check it out sometime.
I'd like to learn how to work with that clay too.

I'm off to Fort St John in the morning so we got to bed at a decent hour.
It was a nice visit with the in-laws.
It's enjoy spending time there with them, it's always so peaceful.

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!

Clay Oven Cooking (July 27, 2019)

We had a bit of a sleep in this morning and when we got up, breakfast was all ready for us.
We are treated so well when we com here.

Lily's breakfast was ready too.

My MIL uses this to wash her dish clothes, I want to give it a try on mine.

Time to go out Sam!

Sam wasn't ready to move at that particular point in time.

Today is pizza making day.
My Honey started the dough before we came, he's determined that a 3 day rise is the best.

Lily looks like she was sent to sit in the corner (she wasn't).

That's better, she looks much more comfortable this way.

My Honey got the oven going then first thing he did while it was super hot was to brown up some ribs that he's going to put back in later and let slow cook over night.

The oven he built is holding up so well.
He loves to cook in it - it does do a fantastic job.

They look so yummy already - I can't wait.

There was a bunch of grease on the pan and they were kind of difficult to maneuver and I was worried that he was going to burn himself.
He didn't though - all was good.

He slathered then with lemon, garlic and herbs and he let them sit like that for a few hours until they went back into the oven.

I had a bit of a headache so I laid down for a bit in the afternoon.
I finished reading Anne of Avonlea and then I even had a nap.
I felt refreshed afterwards and my headache was gone.

When I got up, the dough had risen and was ready to go.

He made me a cheeseburger pizza which I was very excited about.

Added some lettuce, dill pickles and sweet pickles to it when it came out of the oven and it was just as good as I was expecting.

Another pizza ready to go in the oven.

He made 6 pizzas all together - I had 3 slices, that's all I could do.

Sam posed very nicely for me for his picture (finally).

The last pizza is ready for the oven.

It looks so good (it was).

We brought some blueberries with us so to use them up, My Honey & his mom made a rhubarb/blueberry crisp.

It looks so good, I wish I liked blueberries.

No need for me to fret over dessert though - my MIL made her fabulous gingerbread cake.

There was enough residual heat in the oven to cook the crisp and the cake in about 40 minutes.

I wish smell-o-vision was a thing because the aroma wafting from this cake was divine.

The crisp smelled delicious too in spite of the blueberries.

After he took the desserts out of the oven, he put the ribs back in and some beans and he'll let them slow cook in the clay oven (also on the residual heat) until morning.

I had a huge slice of cake with a generous dollop of whipped cream and it was heavenly.

Yup - that about sounds right.

We didn't get out for a walk tonight - it was late by the time that we finished clean up.

My Honey had picked up a movie yesterday so we started watching that.
We watched about half of it before calling it a night and heading to bed.

We'll finish it tomorrow night.

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!
