Hanging with My Honey (Mar.11, 2018)

We slept in and it was wonderful!
Then My Honey found a place that sells brick but it wasn't open today.
He thought about driving back in tomorrow to pick it up but to save him from all that driving, we just decided to stay the night in the city again.
I let the girls at work know that I would be late getting there tomorrow.
That meant that we essentially had the day free.
Our first order of business was breakfast.

We went to Timmies and it was close to lunch so I just had a turkey club sandwich.
I had a coffee too but it tasted so terrible that I dumped it.
I don't know why that happens every now and then?
Oh well, not the end of the world.

There was a Popnology exhibit going on a the Telus Science Center so we thought we would check it out.

We thought it would have to do with pop culture but it had more to do with technology.
It was ok but not the best I've seen.

There was a robot greeter as you walked into the exhibit.

This entire car was made with a 3D printer.

Collection of famous robots over the years - R2D2 is my favorite.

Now it's just business as usual.

I believe it.

Wall-e is pretty cute himself.
I finally watched the movie recently for the first time and I thought it had a great message.

Sign me up!!!

The Delorean.
Pretty cool to see this in real life.

Pretty recognizable car I would say.
Who didn't want to hop in next to Michael J Fox and be off to the future?

My Honey found something that kept him entertained for awhile.
Donkey Kong.

I wasn't really into the Alien movies but I think these metal statues are amazing.

Another amazing one.
I'd love to get one of these for my brother, I think he would love it.

There was a giant Lite Brite.
I remember playing with one of these as a kid and loving it..

A close up of R2 - another thing I would love to get for my brother.
My brothers & my sister are totally into all the sci-fi stuff.

This is the

This part of the science center is always there.
It has all kinds of activities for kiddos.

There was a body one going on that we checked out as well - I enjoyed that one a whole lot more.

You could check your blood pressure so I checked mine out.
Not too bad.

Thought I would try it again just to make sure it was accurate and it was pretty much the same.

I made My Honey check his too.
Looks like we are both in the healthy range so that's good.

Then they also had a Terry Fox exhibit going on.

If you grew up in Canada over the last 30 - 40 years then you know who Terry Fox is.
The exhibit was wonderful and I highly recommend it.

I actually took the time to read through every single thing which I rarely ever do and it was so touching.
A few times I actually got choked up.

I thought I knew all about Terry Fox and his story but I learned things that I didn't know before.
Such a remarkable story.

There was a gentleman there volunteering to be there at the exhibit and answer questions.
We chatted with him for quite some time and he filled us in on all kinds of extra information.
He himself is living with a brain tumor.
He was a teacher and had to leave teaching because of his diagnosis.
He wasn't given much of a life expectancy but has surpassed that initial diagnosis by 4 years.
So he volunteers a lot of his time to the Terry Fox foundation.

He also heads up the Edmonton Terry Fox run which I am going to try to do this year.
I knew they still ran it in the schools but I did't know they held a big event in Edmonton so that was great to learn.

We spent most of the afternoon there at the Telus Science Center so by the time we left we were hungry.

We wanted to try something new but we didn't know what so we thought we would just drive around to see if anything jumped out at us.

Well - we drove all over Edmonton, I think we drove for about an hour and a half.
I saw parts of Edmonton I didn't know existed.
We weren't having any luck finding a place to eat though so finally we headed down Jasper figuring we might find something there.

We did right away.
I saw an interesting sign on the side of a building - we passed it so quick that I didn't quite make it out so I had My Honey circle back to hit.

Chic-Hog-O

It looked like it might be good and we were tired of looking so we gave it a go.
First off, I liked the sign and the look of the place.
The waitress/host was super friendly.
She chatted and gave us recommendations for food to try - she was great.
She said they'd been originally open in Calgary but lost everything in the flood a few years back so felt up for a change and moved to Edmonton to reopen.

She brought us out some olives to snack on while we were waiting.
They were warmed up and I've never had them that way before.
They were really tasty.

Me and my guy.

They had pizza on their happy hour menu that had apricot jam, goat cheese and onions.

Right up my alley so we got that.

We also tried their pork calamari.
It was good too.

Then My Honey had their special burger.

I tried the Chick Hick sandwich.
It had chicken on it and hickory sticks.

The bread was a little crustier than I normally like but it was good.

All in all, it was a great experience and I would definitely go there again.

We skipped desert - we were pretty full and thought about seeing another movie but there wasn't anything playing that either of us really wanted to see.

It was after 7 by that time so we figured we would just go to our hotel.
My Honey got us a room at the new Hyatt that just opened recently on 100th.
We stayed at a Hyatt in Orlando and it was just gorgeous so I figured it would be nice.

We made a quick stop at Wendy's on our way there for Frosty Dairy Deserts.
I got a small one for a treat.

We arrived to the hotel.
It was beautiful as expected and it had that scented air being pumped in like you find in Vegas casinos.
It smelled really good too - sometimes the floral smells they have can be so over powering.

We got to our room and ate our Frosty's and watched Step Brothers.
My Honey had never seen it before (what?).
I had but it was funny so I was more than happy to watch it again.

Our plan was to be up and out early and at the Brick place when it opened so I could still get a half of day of work in at least so we pretty much just went to sleep after the movie.

Memories - Caribbean Cruise 2015

Arriving in San Juan, Peurto Rico.

As we were pulling in to dock, it was crazy windy.
We had to hold onto the rails so we didn't get blown away.

We did some exploring.
BN found a statue of the fellow he was named after.

My Honey & BN checking out the cemetery.
I'd never seen a cemetery like that before - so interesting.

A rainbow of houses.

My Honey the bird whisperer.

Stumbled upon a frozen yogurt place so just had to get some.

We spent a lovely day in San Juan then it was off to the next destination.

Memories of Oahu 2013

Visited the Dole pineapple plantation and had some corn for lunch.

It was spicy and cheesy and salty and buttery.

That is all for today.
Until next time, be happy!
