Fighting off a Cold (Dec.20, 2017)

We got to bed really late last night so before even going to sleep I had already kind of decided that I might not work out this morning.
When I woke up this morning I decided that I needed rest this morning more than I needed a work out.
I've been fighting this cold/flu and I REALLY DON'T WANT TO GET SICK!
I find that when I am run down or tired, then I am more apt to catch whatever is going around so I want to do whatever I can to fend it off.
I let the girls at the office know that I was going to be a little late then I had a nice hot bath.

I stopped at the store to pick up whatever I could think of that would help keep this sickness away.
I ended up only being a half hour late for work which wasn't bad - I think I made the right decision for my health this morning.

I made myself eat all of this good stuff before I would allow myself to have any treats.

Right after lunch, us girls in the office and Mr BN, got busy wrapping presents.

It only took us about an hour and a half to get them all wrapped.

Some Facebook memories from Christmas 2016

We picked up a tree and it was one of the most beautiful trees I have ever gotten.
It had a perfect shape, nice and full, almost looked like it was fake because it was so perfect.

However, within a week, almost every needle had fallen off of it.

You just touched it and handfuls of needles would fall off.
It was so bad that I ended up having to take it down and getting a new tree.

Tree number 2 of 2016 wasn't as pretty or as big and full but it didn't lose all it's needles.

My sister and the boys came to visit for Christmas last year.
I picked them up from the airport and they were just exhausted.

Mr E was trying to smile so I could take his picture but he could barely keep his eyes open.

We carried them sleeping from the car into the house and they didn't even wake up at all.

Little angels.

We got them all cozy then visited for a bit.

Mom was getting some cuddles in with Max.

It was nice to have all of us in one house together.

So didn't quite reach the 10,000 step mark for today.
That's ok though, tomorrow is a fresh new day!

Until next time, be happy.

Early Christmas (Dec.19, 2017)

I had a hard time getting to sleep and staying asleep last night.

I had a bit of a tickle in my throat and kept having to clear it.
I finally got up during the night some time and found a cough drop which helped some what.

I think a cold has been trying to catch me for the last week or so but I've been fighting it off.

Due to lack of sleep, I really didn't want to get up at 5 am when my alarm went off.
Another hour of sleep sounded really wonderful but I didn't give in.
I fought that urge and got myself out of bed and down to the basement to work out.

This morning I did most of my jogging at a 4.3 with a few minutes here and there at 4.4.
Even when I don't feel like working out and am just happy with myself to be doing it anyway, I am still managing to challenge myself a bit which I am proud of.

It isn't always easy, in fact, it is probably more often really difficult, but it is so worth it to do this for myself.  To be fit, active and healthy, what better gift could a person give themselves?

I managed to get in 58 minutes of a work out.

Sweaty Selfie or Swelfie!

Figured it was a good a day as any to wear my new Christmas sweater to work.
It was supposed to light up but only worked for about a minute.
Oh well, it is still cute anyway.

Had some canned beans for lunch.
I don't know why I don't have these more often, I love them.

Picked up this pair of snowmen to donate to the seniors home where BN's mom lived for quite some time.
We pick them up something every year with the adopt a family funds we raise.
I liked them so much that I got BH's daughter to pick me up a set while she was in WCT today.

We got lots of goodies that we will need to wrap.

Presents for 34 kids and family treats for 17 families.

Figured the words of wisdom board could use an update and this seemed especially relevant.

My brother & SIL are going to spend Christmas with her dad in Fort McMurray so we are getting together tonight after Miss A's Christmas concert to exchange gifts with them before they go.

Got a meat and cheese tray ready for snacks - my brothers and son love salami so I made sure to have lots of it.

I noticed the list My Honey had started and item number two made me chuckle.
I showed it to my brother figuring it would be a good Christmas gift idea.

My boy, his honey and my brother R were the first to arrive.

When Mr H arrived I gave him a little present to open.
Not sure if he was crazy about it.

He does make the cutest little Red Nosed Reindeer ever though.

We let him open one more before officially starting so he could have something to play with.

Miss H and my niece Miss M - both beauties.

The boys.

My Honey & I

He got this gift from nanny and he loved it.

When my SIL and Miss A arrived we visited for a bit then they opened their presents from us.
(and we opened ours from them).

Nanny was really good at wrapping presents - Mr H was having a bit of a hard time.
He was very intent on his task though.

Miss M opening her gift from Miss A

It was a picture she'd drawn of her and Miss M together.
I thought it was so sweet and we framed it for her.
Miss M did say that she needed some art for her walls.

He got lots of little cars and he had to take everyone out of the package.

Then everyone moved to the table for snacks.
I was glad we got to spend a bit of time together before they left.
It is looking like it is going to be a quiet Christmas for us this year.
It will be different but good still.

Fitbit stats for today - well over 10,000 steps for the day.

That is all for today.
Until next time, be happy!

Santa's Elves Shopping (Dec.18, 2017)

I kind of wanted to skip my work out again this morning but you know, DETERMINATION.
I knew I had to just get back at it or I would be dangerously close to stopping all together.
Each day I miss just makes it easier to miss another and I don't want to get that habit started when I've worked so hard and starting this habit.

I don't feel bad about taking a break on the weekend though - I think I needed it and that's ok.

My work out was kind of random but I mainly did 5 or so minutes of jogging at a time with a minute or two of walking in between.
I did the jogging at 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4.
The very last 5 minutes I struggled with, in fact, the last minute I thought I was going to be sick.
I've never felt that before but I kept going even though every inch of me desperately wanted to stop.

I got 1 hour and 4 minutes in though in the end.

Super happy with that.

My work out companions.

See - SUPER HAPPY SMILEY FACE because my work out is OVER for the day.

Weighed in at work.
Slowly moving in the right direction.

There was left over tres leches cake so I had some for a snack.

We raise money for the Santa's Elves here in town each year at work.
Then when they finalize the lists of the families they are going to help, we take the money we raised and buy a gift for every child in every family and also a gift for each family.

We really needed to get it done so Ms BH, Ms SG and I went to WCT for the afternoon and hit up Wally World to get the shopping done.

But first we needed sustenance,

in the form of a McDonald's burger and fries for me.
I love dipping their fries in their hot mustard sauce - trust me, it is so good.

When I got home, Paddington was ready for cuddle time.

Which was a-ok with me.

He just climbs right up and snuggles right in.

What a wonderful place the world would be if everyone could come home to love like this every day!

My sister sent these pictures of the boys today - looking pretty spiffy!
Mr D loves to be the goofy one and Mr E is a little more serious.
They have such great little personalities.

Now they are both just being silly.

Not bad stats for today.

Until next time, be happy!
