Lunch with the Ladies and Daily Step Goal Blunder (Feb.9, 2024)

We decided that we would head to Whitecourt today and have lunch with our former co-worker.
Well I guess she's still a co-worker, she just transferred to a different location.

We ate at Ricki's in Whitecourt which just opened recently so it was our first time there.

Bonnie and Shennelle.

Sharon and I.

I had a salad and it was super good.

We sat and chatted in the restaurant for a couple of hours - it was really nice to catch up.
Then we made a couple of stops for a few things then headed back home.

I picked up formula for Eden so I dropped it off and of course Freya wanted to come and spend the night.

I still had to do my training schedule run (4k) so Freya came down with me and at first she just watched some YouTube videos then she decided she needed to do some working out too.

Trying her darndest to pull it down.

I only had to run 2.5 miles or 4 k Easy and I did it at a speed of 4.5.

As usual, getting the workout done feels good.

When we went upstairs Freya did my make up for me.
Looks not bad.
It's all done with lip gloss so it was very hard to get off.

When Jason got home she ditched me for a bit to hang out with him downstairs then when bedtime rolled around, she was all about Grandma again.

I picked up a Disney puzzle today that had 4 different puzzles in it, 500 pieces each, so I decided to do one and as per my MO, I could not walk away from it once I started it.
I knew I didn't have all my steps in so I'd try to walk a bit then I'd be right back at the puzzle.

Around 11:10 I was working on the puzzle and I knew I needed about a thousand steps so I thought I'd just put a few pieces in then I'd go hop on the treadmill and knock out the rest of what I needed.

Freya was in the craft room with me while I worked on it and she said 'Grandma, I'm tired I want to go to bed' and I looked at my Fitbit and it was 12:15.
I couldn't believe it - totally missed getting all of my steps for a very silly reason.

There was nothing I could do about it then but I was feeling very annoyed with myself.

Clearly I can't be trusted around puzzles 😁

So I didn't reach my goal and it was for a totally dumb reason.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

First Shovel of the Year (Feb.8, 2024)

It's back to winter here in Alberta although we aren't getting pounded like they are back home on the East coast in NS and PEI.

I saw this recipe online this morning and it looked easy and simple and I think I might give it a try.

Haylee filled out one of those interview things on Facebook with Freya's answers and I thought they were kind of cute.
Surprised she picked chicken as her favorite food - currently she's going through a major Pogo Stick faze and it's all we can get her to eat when she comes over.

We got enough snow that I decided to shovel the walkway, sidewalk and driveway on my lunch hour.
I wanted to do it before it got walked on or driven on because then it gets packed down and harder to shovel.

I actually managed to get it all done on my lunch hour and I'm glad I did because it was nice out and after work the temperature dropped quite a bit.

Mom asked me to make her some hamburger soup so I did that when I got home after work.

Then I went down and walked on the treadmill.
It was a rest day for my training schedule but I still wanted to get my 13,000 steps.

I'm currently watching Fixer to Fabulous while I'm on the treadmill.

I got a little sweaty even though I was only walking.

When Jason came home he made us some ice cream - he makes it with frozen fruit and a few other things and it's no points so it's a great treat.

Busy Day - Massage and Meeting (Feb.7, 2024)

I saw this on Facebook this morning and thought it had a lot of good ideas.

Freya is always wanting to make crafts and I normally can't think of any ideas off the top of my head so this should help next time.
I think any of these would be easy and fun to do.

I had to run 5k today so I hopped on the treadmill on my lunch hour to get that done.
I am trying to push myself a bit harder so I ran it at a speed of 4.5.
The first 10 minutes were tough then it got a bit easier until the last 4 minutes or so when I really wanted to slow my speed down but I made myself finish and I was so proud when I did.

I was also a sweaty mess but hey - that's ok.

Kody had to work so Haylee asked if I could take Freya to dance and then pick her up.
So I did and she wanted to go to our place but I had a massage to get to.
She insisted so I took her over to mom but she insisted on getting an ice cream first.

Crystal moved into a new room and it's way bigger than the one she had before.

She has it done up quite nicely.

I thoroughly enjoyed my massage as I always do.
I went back home and had a bit of time to hang out with Freya then I had to go to an FCSS meeting for 7 pm.
I had planned on taking her home but she wanted to stay to play with Papa when he got home from work "just for a little bit".
So she stayed with Mom and I walked to my meeting.

The plan was for her and Jason to pick me up when it was done then we'd drop her off at home.

My meeting went a little later than usual and she wouldn't come with Jason to pick me up but we did manage to get her home afterwards.

Got My Hair Did (Feb.6, 2024)

Jason and I were going to go to Whitecourt after work today so I made sure I got my workout in at lunch time.

My schedule run today was some speed work, 10 minutes Easy Run , 10 minutes Tempo Run, 10 minutes Easy Run.

I ran the Easy portions at 4.5 and then the Tempo part at 4.8.

It was tough but I did it!

Just as we were leaving to head to Whitecourt, We got a reminder from my Outlook calendar of a hair appointment with Kim at 4 pm today.
I thought it was on Thursday - Oops, good thing for reminders.

So we kiboshed the Whitecourt trip and Jason dropped me off to get my hair done.

It's about time - my grey is really coming in fast.
It makes me feel so old.

I decided to go a few shades darker this time and I'm not getting any streaks either, just one color.

Meanwhile, Jason ended up with a visitor.
She wanted to make dough.

Jason said it would have been a good biscuit but then she wanted to fill it with hot sauce and wrap it with a rice paper salad wrap and fry it.
She comes up with some strange ideas.

Grey is gone!

When I got home, I decided to straighten it.

When I straighten my hair you can really see the grey (when I have it) so when it's first dyed, it's the best time to straighten it.

I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Freya made a whole spread for Jason.
She had to set it all up in a particular way.
She was so proud of her work.

I had a couple of things that I was getting rid of so I took pictures to show to Haylee to see if she wanted it.
Later Kody came over to pick Freya up and I went and I lifted it up by the rope to show him and the rope broke and it dropped on the floor and smashed into about 1000 pieces.

Jason made us some ice cream and he had some snuggles with Paddington while he ate it.

Look how cozy he looks.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Craft Room Re-Org is Complete (Feb.5, 2024)

Monday means weigh in day.

I was 209.6 lbs.

I was down .4 lbs, I was hoping to be down a little more but down is down.

I asked Jason to build me a couple extra things for organizing in my craft room.
He made this little shelf for my cricut.

Then he also made this shelf to go up on the wall.

This is the wall I'm going to put the shelf up on.
It's not very wide, just wide enough for some storage jars.

I'm considering making some curtains and I'm thinking of either this chevron looking fabric.

Or this burgundy flowered fabric.

I got a bunch of my wooden cutouts on this bookshelf for easy access.

And the closet now as more space for some storage bins.

Wow - I can actually see my desk.

We got the shelf put up and I got all of my stuff organized onto it.
Now I can see everything that I have and get to it really easily.

My shelf is looking great too - I'm so stoked that I can see all of this fabric.

I even still have some shelves that are empty and there is so much room for sewing now.
Yay - I can't wait to get started on some crafts now.
So the craft room is pretty much done now except I still need to make some curtains.

It was a rest day but I still had to get my 14,000 steps in and so when I got home from work, I hopped on the treadmill to get that done.

Boom - 14,000 steps complete.

I saw this online and thought it was super cute.
I think I might try making them but larger, as a pillow maybe.

Jason was doing some organizing himself and came across this record he forgot he bought.
We used to have a record player but it stopped working so we got rid of it.
We will have to get another one I guess.

I saw a rave review posted on Facebook for this book and for some reason it caught my eye for some reason and I'd like to read it.
