Big Fire and New Color for Jen (Aug.11, 2023)

Since we had Monday off this week, we did not get Friday off.

It's the only Friday we have to work in the summer - kind of a bummer but it's only one.

 The sun has made an appearance over here and I was so happy to see it.

I made sure I got out for a walk to the road this morning so I could bask in it.

It was a little windy but I didn't care.

There was an accident on the railroad tracks in Whitecourt this morning.

These are not my pictures - I didn't see it myself but looks like quite a commotion.

Everyone got out safely and nobody was injured so that was good.

It was quite the blaze.

Just a few more pictures of the fire.

Not sure if someone was trying to race the train or what?

Wowzers!

This was the smoke in Whitecourt but you could see it all the way from here in Swan Hills which is like an hour away almost.

Where it happened is the main highway in Whitecourt and it was shut down for pretty much the rest of the day so a lot of the traffic was re-routed through Swan Hills.

This is some of the traffic coming from Whitecourt - I've never seen so much traffic in Swan Hills.

I didn't feel like working out at lunchtime so I waited until after work then hopped on the treadmill right away as soon as I got home.

I ran 5k.

I could have gone outside I guess but I didn't feel like it.

Always feels great to have my workout complete.

These two were cuddled together sleeping on my bed.

Sometimes they fight and other times they snuggle like this.

I prefer the times that they snuggle!!!

Freya wanted a visit so Kody dropped her off and first thing she did was climb into her car seat and she wanted buckled in too.

Just chilling in her car seat.

We have a booster in the car for her but she prefers this one so I think we might put it in the car for her.

She's ok with only the booster as far as the law goes but this one is still more comfortable for her.

My sister is meeting some friends in the city tomorrow so she wanted to do her hair.

She went down and picked up a couple box dyes today and I offered to put it in for her.

I really like how the color came out.

I think it looks awesome.

Rob and Kody came over for a visit and we put on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 for us all to watch.

Freya wasn't interested at all and wanted to go for a bike ride so Jason took her.

They ended up at Burger Baron and she wanted a donair so Jason called to have me bring him his wallet.

I brought it down to him and stayed and we had supper there.

Haylee showed up while we were there and sat and chatted with us for the whole time we were there.

Kody and Haylee both have to work tomorrow so Freya spent the night and I'm going to take her to the city with us tomorrow.

Cousins Hanging and Sore Shoulder (Aug.10, 2023)

It wasn't very nice out again today and I had a busy morning at work so I didn't get out for a run.

I did hop on the treadmill when I went home for lunch and I ran 5k.

 

Felt good to be finished but then it always does.

I pushed myself to run a bit faster for the last half and so I was super sweaty.

Alivia and Hunter came over and the kids all spent the evening playing games on the Nintendo Switch.

It was nice they were able to figure out a way for them all to play together.

My shoulder was really sore so I ended up taking some medication and going to bed early.

Still Grey Out There and Sore Shoulder (Aug.9, 2023)

Another grey and dreary day over here.

What the heck happened to the sun?

I went out for a walk anyway - at least it wasn't raining.

When I went home for lunch, I hopped on the treadmill and walked a little bit.

Not much but it will contribute some to my step count.

My ankle started bothering me so I didn't stay on long - I figured I'd get back on again after work if I needed to.

I had a massage booked with Crystal after work that I was really looking forward to.

She worked on my shoulder and when I left there it was actually feeling better

She suggested I ice it when I get home and when I was trying to put the ice on I kind of twisted my arm to grab the towel I had the ice pack in and the position tweaked my arm and it was so painful.

I could barely talk for about 15 minutes - just kept still and kept the ice on it.

The pain did subside eventually thank goodness.

Nadine dropped by briefly to get me to help her with something and she stayed for a bit of a visit in all the chaos.

Freya did my make up for me - aren't I beautiful?

Kody came to pick her up and she was ready to go home today - she was asking about her mom and dad - when she does that I think it's because she's starting to miss them.

I love having her but I'm also looking forward to having lots of room in the bed.

I haven't been sleeping well at all - she takes up a lot of room and with my shoulder being in pain, I've been having a really tough time finding a comfortable position.

I put an ice pack on my shoulder for a bit before I went to bed then I went to bed fairly early.

I hope my shoulder feels better tomorrow.

Where Art Thou Summer and Fizzled Experiment (Aug.8, 2023)

I don't know what happened to summer but the weather here has been very grey and dreary lately with no end in sight. 

I didn't let that stop me from going out for a walk to the road though.

One thing to be thankful for is no snow!

The fresh air is always good for me.

Meanwhile, back at the house, Freya was doing Auntie Jen's make up.

She's doing a fantastic job.

My ankle started bothering me on Sunday and my right shoulder started bothering me around the time I was working on Freya's room and it flared up pretty good yesterday.

I was in a lot of pain at work this morning - my desk set up isn't exactly ergonomically correct so I think that's the reason.

Whatever it was, I left and went home an hour early at lunch time so I could ice it and rest it a bit.

I did that for an hour then I hopped on the treadmill to get some steps in.

I only walked while I was on there - I didn't want to aggravate either of my injuries.

This getting older is for the birds.

It felt good to get a bit of a work out down even if it wasn't a tough one.

Jason texted me to tell me that he was taking Freya to the skate park for a walk so I stopped there after work.

It was starting to rain so I thought they might want a drive home but Freya was determined to stay there and play for a bit.

So I went home and hopped on the treadmill and walked some more to get the rest of my steps in.

It took a while because I was only walking but I did it!

Jason and Freya got back then we all went out and did the mentos experiement.

Jen had gotten cokes and mentos for all the kids.

It was kind of anti-climactic.

Jason made chicken for supper and it was delicious.

Kody came over too and we had a game another game of Drawful.

She's a little too young for Drawful yet but she tried.

Mom cheered us all on.

Hunter always makes the goofiest faces when I want to take his picture.

We played two games and Jason won them both.

Hunter and Freya were doing some dancing.

They got a pretty good case of the giggles.

Freya did my make up.

A little giggle for today.

Weigh In Day (Aug.7, 2023)

Today was weigh in day and as expected, it was not good.

I was 210.2 lbs.

That's up 4.2 lbs since last weigh in.

Too many treats on the weekend.

Need to nip that in the bud right away!

Jason, Jen and I went out for a walk this afternoon and we got caught in a hail storm.

We might have kept going but it was coming down really hard and fast, and it was super cold.

We were near the school so we went and stood under the overhang at the front entrance.

We were soaked.

We called my brother Rob and he was just getting home from work so he came and picked us up and took us home.

I was working on my blog a bit and I got up to do something and when I came back, Little Miss Asia had stolen my spot.

It cleared up later on in the day and the sun came out so Jason and I headed out for a walk so I could get the rest of my steps in.

Jason cooked us pizzas for supper in the pizza oven.

He made cheese and pepperoni and they were delicious!

Freya agrees!

After supper, Morgan and Rob came over, Adrien brought Hunter over and Kody brought Freya over.

We played a couple games of Drawful on the Jackbox TV with the kids.

We had lots of fun.

Hunter and Freya both wanted to spend the night so I got them set up on the couches in the living room.

Hunter fell asleep pretty quickly then Freya ended up coming in bed with us.

Alivia got a phone for her birthday and she posted a few pictures.
