Family Christmas Trees (Dec.6, 2020)

I love having Baby F stay overnight, I really enjoy spending time with her.

 

It took her a bit to fall asleep but once she did, she slept right through the night.

I woke up when My Honey left for work but Baby F didn't.

I laid in bed for an hour or so and snuggled up to her then I got up to get a few things done before she got up.

I was able to finish up the kids piggy banks that I am making for mom.

She wants to start saving money for them for our family Disney trip that I hope we can take next year.

I was thinking about painting the inside of the jars white?

I did the Minnie silhouette on the ones for the girls and Mickey for the boys.

I like how they turned out.

Now I just need to get My Honey to cut holes in the top to put the money in and they will be all done!

Baby F got up around 9 am.

She and I watched some Little Baby Bum.

She also helped me do some chores.

I had laundry to fold and put away so she helped with that.

Kids love to be included and to help even if it is just a small task and it may take longer to get things done but it's so worth it to see the look of joy on their faces they get from feeling like they've helped.

Miss H came and picked her up around lunch so they could go and get some soup.

It was a gorgeous day out there so I got ready and headed out for a nice long walk.

I didn't even need a coat out, it was so nice.

Everything is melting which is great but there are some spots on the sidewalks that are just sheets of ice so walking can be a bit treacherous.

When I got back home, I got busy working on meat pies.

My Honey had cooked up a turkey and a pork roast the night before last and it's been in the fridge.

(It's the second attempt, he cooked a turkey and pork roast last weekend for me but we forgot about it and it sat in the oven for a whole day and night after it cooked so to be on the safe side, we threw it out).

I went through the meat and took out all the bone and as much of the fat as I could.

Then I seasoned it well, added some chicken broth and let it sit while I got to work on the pie crusts.

I'm not necessarily the best baker when it comes to pies - I don't make them often so I'm unsure of myself.

I just followed the recipe for the crust on the shortening container then I put and egg wash on the top and I think they turned out ok.

They aren't the prettiest maybe but we cut into one and it tasted darn good.

The crust is nice and flaky too.

I had enough to make 8 pies so that should do.

I have 3 crust portions left so I'm thinking of maybe doing a mince meat one.

Miss M dropped by to pick up some little trees I'd picked up for her the other day so I gave her the rest of the pie we'd cut into for her and Mr T to try.

We have a private family facebook page and everyone is posting pictures of their trees again this year.

It's such a nice way to share when we all live so far away from one another.

I think Miss KA in PEI has her own tree in her room and she looks to be quite the artist.

This is their family tree, my cousin RA and his wife, AA.

It's gorgeous.

This tree belongs to K&N in NB. She has her hands full with kiddos, two of them under 2 so she hasn't quite gotten the tree finished yet.

Her house is always so spotless!

My niece added a picture of her tree, she is here in AB of course - I just love red on a Christmas tree.

She is turning into quite the little decorator.

Finally, my cousin DM from NB posted a picture of her gorgeous tree all in blues.

As soon as I get my tree up, I think I'm going to do a video tour of my place and add that.

I would have liked to get the tree this weekend but I think we are going to go on Tuesday night after My Honey gets home from work.

I saw this last year but it still makes me laugh.

My niece, Miss M saw this and thought it would be something fun for our family to do - this year would be a good time too since we will all be here!

Weekend, Oh How I Love Thee! (Dec.5, 2020)

 It's the freakin' weekend!!

Yay!

I got up early as usual, made a coffee and found a movie to watch.

I settled on this one from a couple years ago.

A Christmas Snow.

I enjoyed it.

Meanwhile, at work, My Honey was busy getting pies into the oven for the bbq tomorrow.

He made a pecan one and a coconut, chocolate pecan one.

Both look delicious.

I got my latest batch of trees finished up.

I added these wooden snowflakes because I thought they needed a little something.

Then I headed down to the Hardware and added them to my display.

I've been selling some stuff from my display so that's great.

I wish I had more time to make more stuff.

I popped down to the cafe to visit my niece who was working and ran into Baby F and her mom there.

She got herself a kinder egg - she loves those things.

Her and her mom were having lunch.

I had to run and do a few things but told Miss H to drop her off to me so that she could take a run to the second hand store in WCT.

So Miss H did drop her off not long after I got home.

I put her in the 'stroller' and we headed out for a walk because it was such a gorgeous day.

About a third of the way into our walk, she wanted to get out and walk on her own.

She found some ice and thought it was great that she could slip around on it.

I let her do that for a bit.

She walked for the second third of the way and then she wanted me to carry her.

I tried to convince her to get back in the stroller but she wouldn't, I had to carry her with one arm and push the stroller with the other so it turned out to be a pretty good work out for me. 

She wanted a bubba when we got home so I got her one.

I told her to smile real big so we could take a picture for Papa.

So she did.

So cute.

We called him and had a video chat with him.

Miss H got back around 5 and she & I took Baby F and headed to the Christmas Tree House to get some Christmas pictures taken.

Baby F fell asleep in the car on the way home so I told Miss H just to bring her over later after she woke up.

She's going to come for a sleep over tonight.

I decided to get to work on my Reindeer Crack.
I couldn't get any Chex Mix this year but I had lots of other goodies to go into it.

I got it all into the bowl (it filled a giant bowl) then got the white chocolate melting.

I just pour the white chocolate over the mixture then kind of fold it in with my hands.

I wear gloves because the chocolate is hot and plus it is really messy.

Then I put it onto wax paper lined cookie sheets to let it harden.

Then I put it all into little Christmas baggies that I had - I think it made about 20 of them.

I sampled some of the nuts and pretzels while I was making it.

I'm telling you - it's my Achilles Heel, salty stuff like nuts and chips, but I didn't go too crazy and I got it put away as soon as possible.

Got to have a treat every now and then though or else what is the point?

Miss H brought Baby F back just as My Honey was getting home from work and she 'helped' me make us omelets for supper.

She is very determined!

She made him go downstairs with her, she loves it down there for some reason and when they came back up, he was carrying her in these containers.

Another thing she loves.

The faces this kid makes - hilarious!

My Honey said he would buy me a new sewing machine for Christmas so I was doing a bit of research.

This one had really good reviews but is out of stock.

I think I'll have to keep looking.

It was actually the 90's for me but I totally had the big hair.

Went through a lot of hairspray to get it too.

I had glasses like the ones in the very first picture but I think my hair was more like the one up from the bottom left (with the black vest and necklace thing).

My poor hair!

Winter is Melting Away (Dec.4, 2020)

Another day of working from home. 

It does have its perks!

I made myself this little rice cracker, hummus & turkey platter for breakfast.

It was so good that I made it again for my lunch.

It was another gorgeous day out there so I got out for a nice long walk on my lunch break.

I don't think I've ever seen the grass here in town in December.

It's been so nice that it is all melting and I am definitely NOT complaining!

After work today, I got busy sewing up some trees.

I'd picked up a scarf at the second hand store last weekend and I was able to get 7 trees out of it.

It has a bit of glitter to it so I really like it.

I was having a lot of trouble with my sewing machine while sewing them though, I thought it was because of the knit material.

It wasn't.

I had cut some trees out of some corduroy fabric too that I picked up and when I went to sew them, I realized that my sewing machine will only sew in reverse.

It's like it is stuck but I don't know how to fix it.

Looks like it might be time for a new sewing machine!

My son brought Baby F over for a visit with me, he had some things to go do.

She fell asleep almost immediately after she got here though.

That gave me some time to hand sew the part on the trees that I needed to.

She woke up when My Honey got home from work and wanted to dance, dance, dance!

She was hiding under the blanket pretending that she was a ghost - it's a new thing she started doing lately.

She loves to pop out and 'surprise' you!

Made sure I got my 10,000 in today, still a little bummed about yesterday but that doesn't mean I'm not going to continue to get 10,000 steps every day for the rest of the year!

My Year Long Streak Just Came To An End (Dec.3, 2020)

 My Honey was back to work yesterday so when I headed out for my lunch time walk, I was all by my lonesome.

It was another gorgeous day out there.

I just love the warm weather that we've been getting lately.

A former co-worker posted this on Facebook today from the days when we worked together at Kmart.

I loved working there and made so many great friends and have so many great memories.

It was really nice to see.

I LOVE the sign - I'm totally going to make this one, for real!

After work, SW and her daughter dropped by to pick up the gnomes.

I was happy that she liked them.

Her daughter was very impressed with the Christmas decorations in my house.

I guess I go over the top a little but it makes me happy so all worthwhile.

After they left, I got me some leftover chicken and salad then sat down and turned on a Hallmark movie, A Nashville Christmas Carol.

I had been nursing a headache all day so I took some ibuprofen but it still took a while for it to go away.

I felt bad that I had nothing cooked for supper for My Honey when he got home from work - I'm going to make sure I have something ready to go for him tomorrow night!

OMG - I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID THIS!

The first day this year I missed getting my 10,000 steps and just by less than 200 steps.

If I'd checked before I'd gone to bed I'd have gotten hem no problem, I just forgot to look.

How dumb is that?

Not much I can do now about it but next year, I'm upping it to 12,000 steps per day and I WILL NOT miss any days at all!!!

Solo Christmas Shopping Trip to the City (Dec.2, 2020)

I took the day off today so that I could run into the city and do a few things.

I was hoping that it might be less busy seeing as it is a week day.

They called me from Jeet video last week to let me know that my film was ready to pick up so that was one of the main reasons for my trip.

I was up early and on the road by 7 am with my Christmas tunes playing.

It was 9 degrees out there this morning when I left - practically summer!

Exactly 40 minutes later though when I hit the Fort, it had dropped to -9.

It didn't stay there though - it kind of hovered right around 1 for the most of the day so it was a good day for shopping and getting in and out of the car.

I made stops at all kinds of places today - got lots of last minute things and picked up the video.

I can't wait to watch it!

My last stop was at Superstore and I grabbed myself some california rolls for the drive home.

I'd barely eaten all day and I was starving.

It was about 4 pm when I hit the road for home.

The california rolls ended up being awful, dry as a popcorn fart so I stopped in BH to get myself a drink and I got some shaved turkey deli meat and ate that instead.

It was 6:30 on the nose when I rolled into town and a favorite song of mine was playing - I was switching back and forth between Christmas and Broadway the whole way home.

I stopped by the office to pick up some parcels that were there for me and print off a few things I needed then headed home.

It was 7pm when I got there and I just finished unloading everything when My Honey got home.

We sat down together and watched the rest of The Christmas Chronicles 2 - it was really a good movie.

We both enjoyed it.

A bunch of the Hallmark movies that were released this year.

I've watched a few of them - I don't think I'll get to them all.

I want to make sure I watch some of the classic Christmas movies that I love - I kind of missed out on that last year.

This looks so fun - will totally have to go do it over the Christmas holidays with the family.

So cute.
