Really Mother Nature? (Mar.28, 2022)

 Weigh in day.

I was 192 lbs.

That's down .6 lbs since last week.
Essentially I'm staying right around the same spot.

I just haven't been able to get more than a day of tracking under my belt.
I start off well and track my breakfast but everything just kind of falls apart in the evening.

We are heading to Las Vegas for 5 days on Wednesday and I plan on eating some good/not good food while we are there so not going to lie, WW is going to fall out the window while we are there.

However, I am making a promise to myself that as soon as I get back, I am going to give 100% effort to getting back on track and losing not only the 10 or so lbs I picked up over Christmas, but the rest of the weight to get to my goal weigh of 135.

So, we got another dump of snow.

Mother Nature - enough already!

It's enough that I'll have to do some shoveling today it looks like.

The car will need cleaned off too if I plan on going anywhere.

I had company while I worked this morning.
I'm going to miss her so much while we are away.

I made up this little song for her that I sing to her all the time, so much that she actually knows the words and she wanted me to sing it to her.

Of course with a toddler you never do things just once, it's always, let's do it again.
She definitely is going to be into music which is no surprise.

Her Mom and Dad and all of her grandparents are big into music too, maybe not the same genres but a wide variety which I think is good anyway.

At lunch time we went out together to shovel the driveway, it had warmed up and it was quite nice out.
Kody and Haylee came to pick her up shortly after we started which was good timing because Kody ended up helping me out with the driveway.

I'm sure we'll likely drop by to see her again tomorrow before we head out.
Not seeing her for a whole week just feels like too long

I popped down to the office this afternoon to print out and send off an expense report for one of the guys and also to get the latest on a breaking development.

Turns out one of our party heading to Las Vegas was exposed to Covid last week and he ended up testing positive for it too.

As soon as I heard about it I wasn't able to concentrate on anything else so I just really needed to get an update.

He had a doctors appointment this morning and since he doesn't really have any symptoms and he initially tested positive more than 5 days ago (quarantine time is currently 5 days or as long as you have symptoms) the Doctor said he was ok to travel and gave him a formal document stating that so he is good to go.

Phew!

It made me nervous though so I did another rapid home test on myself and I tested negative.
I still will have to test at a pharmacy before we head out and I have an appointment tomorrow at 4:10 but surely it will be fine.

I would be so disappointed if for some reason I ended up not being able to go on this trip, I'm so looking forward to it.

I had a few parcels at the office too, I ordered the cats a new water fountain because their crapped out and I also ordered Jason a pair of Aftershokz too.

He tried mine out and he liked them.

I can't believe how fast it all got here!

After work, I went to the store to pick up a few things for Mom that she might need while we are away.
My brothers and son will stop in while we are away too to see if she needs anything and just to keep her company.

I procrastinated on my workout all day but luckily I only had to do a 1 mile run today.

My marathon training schedule called for a rest day but of course I made the goal to run at least 1 mile every day this year so I'm still doing that as well.

I did it in 13.04 - I actually remembered to reset the distance/time on the display after I did my warm up so this is all the run.
I stopped to take the picture then did a few more minutes of a cool down.

Happy to have it done.

Video check in.

My belly is feeling really bloated again - I'm not sure what the problem is.
Maybe TMI but I think I might be constipated???

I made a fennel tea after my workout hoping it would help and I've also been trying to drink lots of water.

I for sure don't want belly issues while I'm on vacation - I am looking forward to trying some good food while we are there!

Alivia posted this silly picture of Hunter - too cute!

Tomorrow is going to be really tight.

I have a hair appointment at 1 and then a covid test appointment at 4:10.
I also have meetings all morning and a 4 mile run to squeeze in before we head to the city for the night.
I haven't packed yet either so tomorrow will be BUSY!

We don't actually fly out until Wednesday at 3 pm but we want to get runs in on Wednesday morning so we figured it would be easier to do that if we were already in the city.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Great Run and Family Time Before Our Trip! (Mar.27, 2022)

I had looked at the weather forecast for today and I knew it was calling for more snow so I kind of figured I'd be doing my run on the treadmill again today.

The training schedule for today was calling for a 5 mile or 8 km run and I really wasn't looking forward to doing it on the treadmill.

Even though it was a winter wonderland out there, the sun was trying to break through the clouds, there was no wind and it was only -7 C out so I decided to just dress warmly and head outside for my run anyway.

My belly has been bothering me the past couple days so I figured I'd just take it easy on the run.

The trees were covered in hoar frost and looked so beautiful and there was barely any traffic so it was a very peaceful, quiet and beautiful run.
By the time I finished, the sun was out in full force and the hoar frost was melting off of the trees.

I completed the 8 km that the training plan called for.

My exercise details.
I really just took my time and you can see my average heart rate was down, 155 bpm.

You can also see that my average pace was way up, 7.59 min/km but you know, I am totally ok with that.
I thoroughly enjoyed my run this morning, it was one of those runs that remind a person why they like running in the first place.

Video check in.
I was happy with my run and also happy that I didn't procrastinate all day and got it finished first thing.

We had enough snow that I had to shovel the walkway, driveway and sidewalk when I got home but it was so nice out that I didn't mind at all.

I was actually thinking of putting my shovels away last weekend thinking we'd had the last of the snow for the season.
Boy was I wrong.

My belly was feeling much better today so I called Kody and invited them over for supper and asked if Freya could spend the night tonight.
Jason and I both wanted to spend a bit of time with her before we head out on our vacation on Wednesday.

Mom and I.

Kody, Haylee and Freya.

I made vegetarian chili and Freya wasn't really into it.

So I made her a baloney sandwich instead.
She just ate the baloney out of it and left the bread behind but whatever.

She fell asleep for a bit right around 5 pm.
I let her sleep but hopefully that doesn't mean we are going to have a super late night!

Turns out we didn't have that late of a night, thank goodness.

We had time for a few silly selfies and Papa and I each read her a few books before lights out.

Currently this is one of her favorites, Ten Creepy Monsters.
She is so into scary stuff!
(She most certainly does not get that from me).
I saw this and it cracked me up - this whole Vegas trip next week kind of all started because I was talking about how much I wanted to go to Hobby Lobby and how much I wanted Bonnie and Nadine to see it as well.

This memory popped up from our Vegas trip from 5 years ago, we were at Hoover Dam.
My, Jason and I have both lost a lot of weigh since then.
I can't wait to take a similar picture this trip then put them side by side for comparison.

Procrastination Is Not My Friend (Mar.26, 2022)

Since I'd gone to be so early last night, when Jason got up to leave for work, I woke up too and was ready to get up.

I couldn't believe it when I looked outside, winter had returned.

This is a couple hours later, it continued to snow all throughout the day.

I spent the morning getting caught up on PVR'd episodes of This is Us.
I'm going to miss the show when it's done, this is the last season.

I've been thinking about the desk/craft table that I want to make for my office.

My original idea had the table attached right to the wall but since I designed it, I've kind of since decided that I don't want it to be attached to the wall.

So I came up with a new design and I wanted to get started on it.
It is going to have two layers and I got one of them built.

Jason cut out all the wood I'd need for the original design but now that I've changed it, I'll need him to cut me some more pieces before I can finish the rest.

I'm glad I got a start on it though.

Once I got it put together, I gave it a coat of white paint then a couple coats of a clear varnish.
I think it will be just perfect for a crafting table and I can't wait to get the rest done.

I kept procrastinating on my workout all day long partially because my belly was still queasy and partially because I just didn't feel like running today.

Finally at 3:30 pm in the afternoon, I made myself go down and get on the treadmill.
It was -9 out and still snowing and windy so going outside just was not appealing to me at all!

I didn't run over a speed of 4.5 today, I kind of ramped up to the 4.5 and I felt like that was as fast as I could handle for today.

The training schedule called for a 4 mile or 7 km run today and I wasn't sure how I was going to do it, it was a struggle at first but I just kept going, one foot after another and eventually I got it done.

I watched running videos on The Running Channel on YouTube and I find that to be helpful when I'm running.

Video check in.

I was super happy that the work out was over and done with.

Even though I went super slow and it wasn't my best effort, I'm proud that I got it done.
The workouts that I really don't want to do but do anyway are some of the ones I'm most proud of even if they aren't the best.

I could have just skipped it but I didn't and that took dedication and determination.

Jason was having fun at work.
Having a 'light saber' fight with a busted light bulb.

I picked up a couple of frozen pizzas for us for supper because I just didn't feel like cooking.
My stomach was still bothering me - I'm not really sure what the problem is.

I felt very gassy and bloated all day and as the day progressed, it got worse.

I took some pepto bismal but it didn't help much and by 8:30 I was ready to call it a night.
I sure hope it feels better tomorrow.

Queasy Belly But Run Got Done (Mar.25, 2022)

I went down to the office to work this morning.

I had some things I wanted to print off and I just kind of wanted to see everyone.

I worked there until lunch time then I planned on going for a run outdoors right when I got home but when I did get home, my tummy felt kind of off.

I had eaten an egg, orange and some carrots at break time (10 am) so it should have had plenty of time to settle.

I looked around for something to settle my belly and found these gels that I had picked up for when I start doing long runs so I thought I would give it a try.
It said to give it 15 minutes so that's what I did.
It actually tasted pretty good.

I still wasn't feeling the best and I wasn't sure how my belly would react to the gel but I still wanted to get my workout done so I decided to skip outside for today and just hop on the treadmill just in case I needed to be close to the facilities.

I did my 4 miles in an hour (including my warm up and warm down).
I didn't break any world records on my time but I got it done and that's what counts!

My video check in for today.

I got a new badge on my Fitbit today.

Haylee posted this cute picture of Freya chowing down on pickle juice.
I had no idea she liked pickle juice so much.

I decided at the end of the day that I felt like getting a manicure so I called the spa here in town and she was able to get me in.
Bonus!
I'd never been so I wanted to try it out and I felt like being pampered a little bit.
Here is the before picture.

This color was my second pick (she couldn't find the first color) but I'm happy with it.
These are just my nails, not tips or anything, but she shaped them and cleaned up my cuticles and all for just $35.00 which I thought was awesome.

Fabulous Advice!

I had considered having Freya over tonight but my belly just didn't feel good all night long so I figured I'd better now in case I was coming down with something, I didn't want to pass it along.
I picked up Subs from Subway for Jason and I for supper and we had an early night.

Tried Out My New Aftershokz - I Like Them A Lot! (Mar.24, 2022)

I was really looking forward to my run today because I wanted to get out there and try out my new headphones.

They were all charged up and ready to go.

I like how they just sit beside my ear and don't actually go into my ear.
They feel pretty good.

I managed to get out for my run on my lunch hour.
I had a 4 mile or 7 km run on the marathon training schedule for today.

I ended up doing 7.4 km because for some reason I was thinking 4 miles was equivalent to 7.4 km.
You don't know how many times I was doing the math in my head to convert miles to kms.
I've done it over and over because it seemed strange to me but I only just figured out (after my run), that 4 miles actually converts to 6.4 km.
Oh well, now I know.

Worked a bit harder today, I see that my heart rate average was 162 bmp.

My average pace was up a bit to, 7.09.
Way to go me!

There is still quite a bit of snow left but it has been melting A LOT.

Can actually see the grass - it's been awhile, that's for sure.

Video check in for today.

So the verdict on the Aftershokz is that I really like them - they are a hit with me!
I'm not sure how much better I could hear what was going on around me but I could definitely hear my music just fine and they didn't bother my ears at all.

After work, I decided to have a nice hot bath and I started a new book.

I had cooked chicken in the slow cooker for supper and made a salad to go along with it.
I picked up low fat sour cream and salsa to go up on top of the chicken and it was delicious if I do say so myself.

I think this is so true and I would like to aspire to be that person who makes others feel good about themselves.
