Practically Balmy Out There Today! (Jan.10, 2022)

Today was weigh in day, it wasn't good!

I was 195 lbs.

That's up 3.6 lbs.
Not gonna lie, I'm feeling extremely disappointed in myself and a little defeated.
I was feeling a little like I can't do this, I've lost my mojo and I don't know how to get it back.

I tried not to wallow in it though.
I am not giving up on myself, I'm just going to keep trying, trying and trying.
I know I can succeed.

Jason went this morning and he did 22 k.
One of his goals is to do a half marathon at least once a month every month this year.

My sister texted me later a little worried because she misread his post and thought he'd gotten hit by a truck.
😂😂

Freya came over to visit after he got back from his run.

Frozen balloons.

Jason had frozen a bunch of balloons full of colored water and she was so excited.

They weren't frozen all the way but she still enjoyed opening them and trying to guess what color was inside.

He made a slide for her in the front yard.
He wanted her to try it out but she just wanted to push the balloons down there at first.

Giving it a little kick, ha ha.

Telling me all about it - just being silly really.

He did convince her to go for an inaugural sleigh ride.
They went twice and she was done

It warmed up considerably today (-2 C) and it was sunny out too so I took advantage and headed out for an outdoor run.

It was quite hard because there was lots of slushy snow on the ground and I was quite timid - afraid I was going to fall.

Jason took this picture on his run and this is just an example of what the roads are looking like right now.

This is the highway which is better than the roads in town.
But I got 6k in and I was super proud of myself.

There were a lot of times on the run that I really wanted to stop and walk a bit but I would not let myself.

I pushed myself to finish out the run.
Even if it was slower the main thing for me is that I did it without stopping.

So my average pace and splits were high but again, I did it without stopping so I'm considering that a complete win!

My sister called and said that Mom is wanting to come home so I popped online to find what was available for flights and what the prices were like.

I got her a flight booked to come home on Feb.12 - prices were kind of expensive up until then.
So now we have a deadline of when we need to get the bathroom completed.
Sometimes that's good - gives that push that we might need to get it done.

Jason made a big skillet chocolate chip cookie as a treat for himself after his long run.

He added chocolate and it all melted and it smelled so good.
I couldn't resist and had a piece myself.
Just one and it was totally worth it.

Kody came over to pick up Freya and he stayed and had supper with us.
Freya wanted to spend the night and we were happy to have her since we didn't have her over the weekend.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Christmas is Packed Away for another Year (Jan.9, 2022)

It was my usual weekend routine this morning, made a coffee, watched an episode of Sister Wives then I got busy putting the rest of the Christmas decorations away.

I stopped to have some breakfast.

Hanging out in one of the storage containers before I packed it up.

Then even though it was cold out, it wasn't windy so Jason and I went for a walk to the store.
We both forgot to bring money, ha ha.
So we just turned around and walked right back home.
We got a walk in at least.

It took me pretty much all day to pack everything up and haul it all down to the basement but I'm happy to report that I got it done.

I do have a couple things that I need to pack still but I need to pick up another container.
For now, they are in the downstairs spare room.

I went down and got my 1 mile done, took me 14.38 today.

I got quite a few steps in today running up and down the stairs putting Christmas decorations away but still needed a few more to get my 13,000 steps in so I got that done.

Done for another day!

Yup - I've done this!

While I packed up the Christmas stuff, Jason shoveled the driveway and then worked on making a slide in the front yard for Freya.
It was too dark to take a picture of it but I'll get one tomorrow.
He always comes up with such great ideas.

I had the munchies while we were sitting around watching tv tonight and I kept eating and eating.
So I'm sure my weigh in tomorrow won't be good.
Why, why, why do I do this to myself?

Back at it tomorrow no matter what!

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Giving Vegetarianism a Try (Is that even a word)? (Jan.8, 2022)

We had a bit of a sleep in this morning then checked out and got started on shopping right away.

I had a lot of places that I wanted to hit today.

One of the spots we stopped at was Uncle Wiener's so that Jason could get himself a massage gun.

They sell some interesting things in there, like this- the first thing we saw when we walked in the door.

A t-rex, who doesn't need one of those?

They even had a flame thrower for sale.
Can't believe you can just walk in off the street and buy a flame thrower!

Since Jason is doing the vegetarian thing this week, we found a restaurant that had lots of options.
There was a really cool mural on the side of the building.

Padmanadi - A vegetarian restaurant.
It would never been on our radar if Jason hadn't been doing the vegetarian thing but I'm glad we found it.
I love trying new places, new things.

It was way bigger on the inside than it looked on the outside and I like the decor.

It was very clean and tidy too which is always a good sign.

Jason.

Moi!

The Gado Gado sounded really good to me so we ordered that.

This is what it looked like.
It was delicious.

We also ordered corn cakes - I love the presentation.

They make a vegetarian ginger beef which is their best seller and now that I've had it, I understand why, it was fantastic!

The texture, the taste, everything - I would even go so far as to say that I liked it more than some real ginger beef that I've had.

Jason got the green curry and along with the vegetarian chicken, there were potatoes, carrots, zucchini, broccoli and cauliflower as well.

The curry had a wonderful flavor, a bit on the spicy side for me though.

The chicken had a bit of an aftertaste but the texture was right and overall, the taste was very good.
I'd rather eat it than some of the real chicken that I've seen in some curry dishes.

I'm so glad that we tried it, it was amazing and we will definitely be back.
There were several other items on the menu that looked interesting to me that I'd like to have a chance to try.

Jason looked it up when we got home and turns out it's been there for 16 years and it was also voted one of the top 100 restaurants in all of Canada.

We did some more shopping - lots of stops and so it was close to 6 by the time we finally left the city.
It was dark but clear when we left but of course from Barrhead on, it started to snow and it was slow going for the last 50k but we made it safe and sound.

We carted all our purchases into the house and worked on getting everything put away.

Professor Snuggles was pretty excited about the empty boxes.
He just sat in there and watched us the whole time that we were putting things away.

Once I got everything put away, I hopped on the treadmill to get my 1 mile in.

Took me 16.08 to do it today.
Seems my time is increasing instead of decreasing.
😕😕😕

I thought I'd keep going and get a good workout in but I wasn't really feeling it and after a few more minutes, I called it quits.

Not the hardest workout but still better than no workout at all.

I know I've gained some weight, I'm really feeling it so I wanted to get some selfies for comparison.
It's been a minute since I've taken some.
Need to get back to it to keep myself on track.
Front view.

Side view.

Back view.

We watched the new Rachel Maksy video and got caught up on some One Bite Pizza reviews before calling it a night.

Saw this on Instagram - the teddy bear is made out of rice - isn't that so cool.

This made me giggle.
It's supposed to warm up on Monday and after the -40 C weather we've been having, I can't wait!
Hopefully I can get an outdoor run in!

That's all for today, until next time, be happy.

Dinner and a Movie - Say What? (Jan.7, 2022)

Just another normal day at the 'office' in my spare room.

Jason and I are heading into the city this afternoon so I made sure to hop on the treadmill early today to get my 1 mile in.

I felt like I didn't have any gas in the tank so I just ran at a 4.0.
Took me a bit longer to run the 1 mile, 15.28 minutes but I got it done so that's what counts.

I thought I'd continue on and get a good work out in but I ended up getting a phone call I had to take so had to cut it short.

I finished up work a bit early and Jason and I headed to the city for the night.
It's been awhile since we did something like this and I was excited.

It was super cold today - we had a hard time keeping all the windows in the car from getting frosted up.
Would not have been a good day to break down, that's for sure.

We did some shopping then went out for supper.

Jason had read about a new pizza place in St Albert called Mash so we looked it up, found directions and headed there.

Waiting for our food.
The whole front of the restaurant is windows which will be nice in the summer but it was pretty chilly in there tonight with the -30 temperatures out there.

I was wishing that I had a blanket!

One of Jason's goals this year is to not eat meat for one week each month so he ordered the mushroom pizza.
It had mushrooms, truffle oil and balsamic vinegar drizzle.

I had the dill pickle pizza which had cheese, bacon and dill pickles.
It was pretty good, I kind of felt like it needed something else.
The dough was delicious.

I could smell their dough as soon as we walked in and it was divine.
So I just had to order their bread braid appetizer which came with marinara sauce.
I wasn't crazy about their marinara but the bread was fantastic - I could have just eaten that alone and I would have been happy.

Then we went and did something that we haven't done in almost over two years (since before this whole pandemic started), we went to a movie in the theater.

Spider-Man:  No Way Home.

We were both really excited.
We went to Landmark and they have the nice reclining seats plus there are dividers between every two seats so it felt very private.

I ate most of a medium popcorn and almost a whole bag of Nibs - I didn't track it but safe to say I went way over on my points today.

From there we headed to our hotel room.
It was just too cold out there to do anything else!

I still needed a couple thousand steps so after we checked in, Jason walked around the hotel with me.
We just did laps around the 4 floors and until I got enough to get me to my goal.

I saw this on Facebook today and it literally made me laugh out loud.

Getting their first storm of the winter back East - Storm chips are a real thing there.

Preach it!

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
