I had a WCSS spill exercise to attend in Slave Lake today so I was up and on the road early.
I just turned on my latest audiobook and the drive flew right by.
Plus I was treated to a gorgeous sunrise along the way.
The pinks and blues in the sky were so beautiful.
Things got started at 8 am.
It turned out to be a lovely day for it.
I've been to many of these exercises over the years but I still find them interesting.
Amy and I picked out a spot for lunch then she sent the menu to everyone to get their orders and I went and picked them up.
This place was at the cafeteria in the local college - I hadn't even know it existed before today so I'm glad I've discovered it, the food was good.
We had a second group of people in the afternoon so went through the whole exercise again.
Showing all the equipment in the land deployment.
The wildlife deterrent presentation.
This has become a big thing over the past few years.
We used the yard at the Slave Lake Fire Department and they have this whole training area set up with a ditch so we could flood it and then show how the recovery equipment works.
It's great hand-on experience for these guys that may one day have to actually use this equipment out in the real world in the event of a spill.
Then it was the second debrief of the day and time to go home.
Haylee dropped Eden off to me just as I was getting home because she had to go to work.
She was checking out the fairy garden and she noticed a butterfly.
She noticed a regular fly too and she's not a fan of those apparently.
Papa introduced her to popsicles recently - she loves them.
Cheers!
Enjoying a popsicle with Papa.
Freya took some time out from playing to watch some videos.
Papa went out to the kitchen to get something so I thought I could sneak in and get a cuddle but no way was that happening.
She was saving that spot for her Numero Uno, Papa.
She is a big Papa's Girl and I think it is absolutely adorable.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
