Ottawa and End of the Line for the Road Trip (Aug.19, 2025)

Jason sent me some more pictures this morning.

Leftovers from the hail storm yesterday.

Freya got another letter from Ivy - she looks quite happy about it.

I'm flying home today but I don't leave until later this afternoon so we are going to go into downtown Ottawa and check it out but first, breakfast.
I noticed a Pure & Simple near our hotel when I went out for a walk and I loved it in Charlottetown so I suggested it to Jen and the boys - they were in.

Declan, Ethan and Jen.

Jen and I.

I had the same thing I had before because it was so delicious.

It was just as delicious as I remember.

Then we drove into Ottawa and it took us awhile to find a place to park but we finally did and Oh Wow - check out the view.

There was a cool mural on the wall walking up from where we parked.

I love murals.

I thought these little birds were so cute.

I like this little ones goggles.

Pretty church - I was just snapping away because we didn't have much time.

So many trees right in the city - I love it.

Ethan and Declan
That's the parliament buildings in behind - looks like lots of construction going on.

I really like this tree.

My sissy and I.

The canal.

I can't get over all of the trees.

We were in a park too so that explains some of it but they were just everywhere and so full looking.

This looks like it would be a nice place to go for a run.

Just another view of the river.

And the backside of the Parliament buildings.

The tomb is dedicated to Canadian service members, and holds the remains of an unidentified Canadian soldier who died in France during the First World War.

There are Canadian Armed forces soldiers who stand on guard there in a formal posture to honor those who serve and have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Coming from a military family and background, I thought it was really touching to see.

More murals.

After a short quick tour of a small part of Ottawa, Jen and the boys dropped me off at the Ottawa airport.
I was flying out at 3 but had them drop me off quite early so they could get started on their way to their next destination.
The are headed to Niagara Falls tonight, it's a 5.5 hour drive and I didn't want them getting there too late.

I felt bad leaving her to drive the rest of the way by herself.
In hindsight I should have taken the rest of the week off and driven with her.
She assured me she'd be fine and I know she will be, my sister is very capable, but I think it would have been fun.
Too late for that now though.

I worked on my blog a bit at the airport.

Jason sent me a picture of this little box that 'Ivy' made for Freya.

"Ivy" decorated it with a bunch of flowers.

It's purpose is to house the ring that 'Ivy' bought for Freya

A view of the river as we were flying out from Ottawa.
We didn't have much time here today and the boys weren't really into it but I'd love to come back and do more exploring.

I made it back to Edmonton safe and sound.
Jason came in and picked me up from the airport.
We did some shopping and had something to eat then headed home.
We were treated to a gorgeous sunset on the drive back to Swan Hills.

The girls were camping for the night with Rita, Lloyd and the rest of the family.
Haylee posted this cute picture of Eden.

My sister booked a fancy room in Niagara Falls and sent me some pictures when they got there.

Fancy tub.

Nice big room.

It had a view out over the Falls.

You can see it there all lit up with blue and red.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
