Las Vegas - Pizza Rock, Durango, Prince St Pizza, Irv's Burgers & Nielsens (Aug. 29, 2025)

We were up early and out for a run/walk again this morning.

I did 5k - I walked most of it, did some running, not as much as yesterday but some.

Some things Jason noticed along the way.

They were just tiny little drawings on the bottom of a wall but I tell you, he has an eye.

Creepy
It was early but as you can see the sun was already shining high in the sky.

No proba-llama!

Peace!

Jason noticed these cool sculptures of people climbing up these poles.

These were all things Jason came across on his run.

Murals.

More murals.

I walked through Fremont street looking for a washroom.

It's so quiet here in the day time.

Ended up running into Jason.
He'd finished up his 5k so he said he'd walk with me back to the Strat.

We happened upon a small Farmer's Market.
They had some nice heirloom tomatoes.

Came upon this wall of tiles.

I like these kinds of displays.
I think they get art classes or students or something to make them.

More murals.

Good Pie - we like this pizza spot.

Nod to the mob on the construction signs.

Pin up.

No you can't.

We got back to the room, changed and then headed out again.
We had a car rental we were picking up at noon at a spot across from Resorts World.

We had booked a truck and when we got there, they informed me that since is was a specialty vehicle, I had to get this extra insurance that was going to be a few hundred bucks on top of the rental cost, I had to have two credit cards and ID and then there was an extra deposit that I needed to pay that would be returned.

Even though I had what they needed I just on principal decided not to take it - I did not want to pay the extra insurance when I already have insurance so I declined to take it.
I figured we'd just find one somewhere else.

We walked over to Resorts World and got something to eat at the food court there.
Jason got beans and rice and chicken.

I got a chicken noodle bowl.
They have an outdoor seating area which is nice but again, the food was super expensive but just ok.

I went online while we were sitting there trying to book another car rental and I was having a hard time finding something.
I finally found one at the car rental in Golden Nugget that I could pick up at 3 so we booked it and then started walking back down to Fremont Street to pick it up.

We saw more murals along the way.
Arnold.

Spaceship.

We got to Golden Nugget and went to the rental spot, they said they didn't have any vehicles right then so we sat around for an hour or so waiting until our rental time and went back and she said sorry but we are all sold out.
So I'm not sure why I was able to book one online but it was super annoying.

We looked for other car rental places nearby and there was one at the Plaza that said it had cars so again, I booked one and we headed over there.

It was hard to find the place because it was kind of in the parking lot area and when we did find it, there was no attendant to be found.
We waited and he finally did come back but again, he said they were out of vehicles.
So we basically wasted the whole day just trying to get a car and I was super frustrated by this point.
The rental places were all closing too and wouldn't be open for the weekend.

So we decided that we'd go online and book one right at the airport then head there and pick it up.
Kind of out of the way but at least they'd be open and there was a better chance that they would actually have vehicles.

Once we got that out of the way, we went to Pizza Rock since we were in the area for some supper.

We got two different pizzas with two different types of crust, we both really like the cracker thin crust.

We always get the pepperoni.
Look how big it is.
There was no way we were going to finish it all but we put a good dent in it.

Seems logical.

When we finished eating, we walked back to the Strat then took an Uber to the airport car rental.
We went to get the car and they wanted my passport which I hadn't brought with me.
I only had my drivers license but that wasn't good enough so we had to go all the way back to the hotel to get it.

We tried taking the bus because it was cheaper but it was taking far too long so we hopped out at MGM and got another Uber over to the Strat.
Grabbed my passport then back to the airport again in another Uber to finally get the car.

I asked if they could give us one with Nevada plates because parking is free at the Strat for locals and they were able to do that for us so that was a nice break after the whole car schmozzle today.

We had initially only planned on keeping it for two days but since we Ubered back and forth so much, we decided to keep the rental right until we leave on Tuesday then we can save a bit of money by not having to taxi back to the airport.

Now that we had the vehicle, the first place we went was out to Durango Casino

It's off strip so it's too far to walk to.

They have such a great food court at this casino with lots of really good places to eat.

We came specifically for the frozen custard from Nielsens.

I always get the vanilla custard with pecans and chocolate fudge.
They put in lots of big pecans and it is so darn delicious.

There is a Prince St Pizza there so we of course had to get our fix of that.

We had the spicy square and a vodka slice from Prince St and it was just as good as always.

They have this outdoor seating area that I just loved.

Comfy seats, plenty of table options and strings of lights, good music playing but not too loud.

What a great space.
I loved it so much I'd stay at this casino just so I could hang out here.

I was craving a good burger after the sub par one from Gordon Ramsey's yesterday so I got one of those from Irv's too.

I got the Best Burger on the menu and it was only around 10 bucks - so a fraction of what we paid at Gordon Ramsey's.

It was 10x better too - I'd pick this burger any day!

We finally did a little bit of gambling here - neither of us did very well though.

We saw this in the parking lot when we were walking back to the car and stopped to take a picture.
The guy that actually owned the vehicle just happened to come out at the same time and he was tickled that we'd stopped to take a picture.

I saw this online and I love it!

It was another good step day.
My feet are going to be worn out after this trip.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
