Beautiful Beach Day at Sylvan Lake (Aug.17, 2023)

It was shaping up to be a gorgeous day out there this today.

After coffee, Jason and I headed out for a run - we split up as usual because he is much faster than me but we both decided to run along the water.

I noticed this big Sylvan Lake sign that I didn't see yesterday - I tried to take a picture of it while I was running, it turned out a bit blurry.

I ended up running 6k - it was a nice run.

The exercise details.

My average pace and splits.

When we got back to the house, we all got ready and headed back to the lake for a beach day.

Adrien and Mel drove Mom there with a bunch of our things then the rest of us walked there.

Freya and Zepplyn both took their bikes.

It's only about a 10 minute walk from our Airbnb to the beach.

Proud of herself because she can drive with no hands.

This house on the way has a pretty cool boat displayed in their garden.

Funky cow on the fence too.

There are two different bathroom buildings along the lake which is nice.

Jason got another, better picture of the Sylvan Lake sign.

Adrien enjoying a nap in the sun.

Crystal also enjoying the sun.

Papa having a nap in the sunshine too and Freya snuggling up to him after a swim.

The kids bringing their floaties back in after a swim.

There were lots of people at the lake today but it didn't feel crowded.

Hunter loves swimming and the beach so he was happy.

Having a snack between swimming sessions.

Freya sneaking in a snack.

Zepplyn sneaking into the picture.

She wanted me to take one of her photobombing Jason and Freya.

Morgan and Callum went and got some take out and brought it back to the beach.

Mom was getting lots of sun that day.

Papa having a snack with Freya.

Then she convinced him to come out in the water.
Adrien and Mel had a bunch of floaties with them - this one had a pillow and it was super comfortable.

After some swimming, we walked over to a restaurant on Lake Shore Drive to get something to eat.
Jason, Freya and I.

Crystal and Zepplyn came with us too.
We sat on the outdoor patio and it had glass walls (likely plexiglass) and it was so hot - it felt like we were in a greenhouse.

Jason and I shared some nachos - they were ok.

We also had some ice cream then headed back to the beach for a bit before we all packed up and headed back to the house.
A few folks got a bit too much sun so it was time to call it a day.

Jason and I decided to take our bikes out for a ride.

We went along the lake into a summer village area and saw some amazing homes.
This was one of them and it was one of my favorites.

Along the lake.

We got ice creams then sat on a bench by the water to eat them and just watched the glorious sunset.

In all we biked just over 15 k.

The exercise details.

Back at the house, they were playing some Heads Up and I joined in with them - it was fun.
Then a couple of us had a game of Skip-Bo before calling it a night and heading to bed.

It was a good day!

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
