Cat Photo Shoot and Free Kids! (Aug.30, 2023)

Jason started his days off today.

It turned out to be another beauty of a day so he walked down and met me at the office and we went for a walk.

Just after he got back to the house, he got a little visiter.
She brought along a picture to paint.

I took a trip to Whitecourt this afternoon, a quick trip to go to the second hand store to grab a few things.
I was thinking I might do some crafting on the weekend if we stayed home so I was looking for some orange fabric to make some pumpkins possibly.
I didn't find any but I did get some clothes for Freya and a few craft supplies at the dollar store.

I was back to work by 1 - it was a quick trip.

Paddington found the artificial flowers that I bought - he loves them - he likes to try to eat them.

Jason saw it as a photo op - the pictures turned out well.

I found the gauze wrap that Freya had on her leg in the car and brought it in the house after work and she suddenly remembered that her leg was 'hurting' and she needed to put it back on and she also had to use Mom's cane.

Ha ha - what a good little actress.

Zepplyn was there at the house with Jason and Freya and we all went for a walk to the store to get ice cream.
On the way we saw a table on the side of the road with a 'FREE' sign.
The table had nice spindle legs and so I wanted to take it home.

Jason had a look and it was actually made out of maple so we decided to take it.

He carried it over to the park and I walked home, got the truck and went back to pick up the truck.

The girls thought the sign was funny, Jason got them to stand on the side of the road and hold it with 'sad' faces.
They wanted to do it together.

Then they took a picture with the sign individually.

Zepplyn wanted him to send her picture to her mom and dad.

They played at the park and I took the table to the house then walked back down and met them and we all went for a treat at the store.

Freya didn't want ice cream, she got a water and a nerds candy thing.

She happily had a bite of Jason's ice cream though.

The sherbet was almost gone so she just gave him the rest of what was left in the container.
It was huge.
I had a taste - I'd forgotten how much I love sherbert.
I had a blizzard type ice cream with Reeses Pieces in it - so good.

Then we walked Zepplyn home.
She started school today and so had to get hoe at a decent hour.
Freya starts school on Friday so she still has another day off.

She wanted to spend the night and Kody and Haylee were ok with it.

She and I were sitting on the couch watching tv and she just randomly asked to go to bed around 8:30 so I took her even though I didn't really feel ready to yet.

I started falling asleep but she got a second wind and got up and hung out with Jason.
I stayed in bed and went to sleep.

I saw this on Instagram and I soo want to go see this in real life!

I didn't go for a run today but I did get all of my steps in.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Getting Some Nice Summer Heat (Aug.29, 2023)

It was another really warm, beautiful day out there.

It's hazy or smoky, not sure which, but the temperature is amazing.

I got out for walk to the road and back this morning before my 10 am meeting.
It's like beach weather out there.

At lunch I headed out for a run.
It was hard, I think because of the temperature but I managed to run 5.5k.

The exercise details.

My average pace and splits.

I dressed a little more appropriately for the heat today at least.
As always, I was happy to be done my run.

The rest of the afternoon at work was kind of slow - There are a lot of people on vacation too so it's really quiet.
I was supposed to be going on vacation tomorrow - we were going to head to Jason's parents then up to the NWT's but we can't go now since there are fires burning up there and the places we'd planned on visiting are all evacuated right now.
So I cancelled my vacation.

I do still have Friday and Monday off so I'll still have a nice long weekend.
We may do something still - haven't decided.
This is our last Happy Friday of the summer - super bummed about that.
When I got home, I made a couple of wreaths.
I finally was able to find some of the burlap ribbon.

I got this cute little ghost at the dollar store so I think I'll make one of these wreaths into a Halloween one.
The other I think I'll make into a Thanksgiving one.

While I made them, I watched some crafting videos.
I have a couple of pumpkin shaped wreath forms and I was finding ideas on things to make with them.
I did see some good ideas, might work on them this weekend if we don't end up going anywhere.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Weigh in Day (Aug.28, 2023)

Weigh in Day.

I was 213 lbs.

That's up .4 lbs - I didn't get back on track as quickly as I planned but I will.

I got out for a walk this morning and it was so nice out.

I do see that the leaves are starting to change color.
Bummer.
I like Fall but I wish Summer was longer.

Some more leaves that have changed colors already.

At lunch I got out for a run.
I considered going on the treadmill but it was just too nice out and winter will be here soon enough.
Need to take advantage of these nice days when they were here.

The exercise details.

My average pace and splits.

It ended up being far hotter out than I expected, it was 28 C.

I had long leggings and a long sleeve shirt on so way over dressed.

I was dripping sweat when I got home and not going to lie - the run was tough.

Felt so good to get it done though.

I noticed these pretty colors on a tree across the street from my house.
Fall really is just around the corner.

Back at the office for the afternoon I froze my butt off.
The air conditioning was making that office so cold that by the end of the day I was shivering and my nose was running.
I had to put a hoodie on and my heater.
Brrrr.
Then I went outside after work and it was a heat wave out there.

Jason brought me home a leftover burger and some sausages from their bbq the other day and I ate that while he was out for his bike ride.
He rolled his ankle the other morning while he was running so he's taking a short break from running and biking instead.

When he got back, he and I biked up to Kody's to have a look at their electrical panel.
A few of their outlets aren't working so we were trying to see if we could figure it out - looks like a breaker may need replacing.

We biked there and back, it wasn't even 3k but still, better than nothing.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Summer Days (Aug.27, 2023)

Both Haylee and Kody had to work today so I had some company first thing this morning.

She had one of her birthday outfits on - it looks super cute on her.

We kind of just hung out for the morning, watched some YouTube, did some painting.
She's getting really good.

Meanwhile Jason was at work cooking up lunch for the guys.
Hamburgers (he brought me home one for supper).

Hot dogs - yum - I love grilled hot dogs.

Grilled onions - Yum.

Freya and I went out for a little walk around lunch time and it was kind of hazy out (or maybe smoky from the fires in NWT) but it was so nice out - hot!
So I thought it might be nice to take Freya to the water slide/lazy river in Whitecourt and I called Adrien to see if Alvia and Hunter might want to come as well.

Alivia had plans already but Hunter came with us.

We brought a floatie with us but the kids preferred to just go down without it.

They stayed together for the most part which was nice - made it easier for me to keep my eyes on them.

This is such a great spot and totally free - I should have brought Jen and the boys here before they went home.

I tried going down on the floatie but it didn't really work - I had to push myself inch by inch and a few feet in I just gave up.
I think you have to jump onto it like this to get some momentum - I didn't try that so I can't confirm.

Taking a break for some snacks.

Hunter wasn't taking any breaks - that kid, I swear he is part fish.

What a nice summer day it turned out to be - reminded me of taking Kody to the beach and spending the day there with him when he was young.

The fountain in the park is pretty and it was causing a rainbow today - you can almost see it in the picture here.

Freya went back down a few more times after her snacking.
I tried to go down with her without a floatie this time, that didn't work either for some reason.

So I got up and walked down to meet Freya and she ended up falling.
She started crying and she was bleeding A LOT!
I needed to clean it off so I could see how bad it was but she was so distraught - it was hard.

I carried her and set her on our blanket then took a towel and soaked it in the water on the slide then cleaned the blood up a bit.
It mostly looked like scratches but one looked a bit deep and it was all covered in sand so I had to carry her over to the restrooms to try to clean it off.

I cleaned it the best I could then packed the kiddos and our stuff into the car.

She was calm by then so we stopped at McDonald's for supper and McFlurries.

It was like 28 C out there - beautiful!

I stopped at the Dollar Store to get some bandaids and guaze and I wrapped up the worst part of Freya's scratches before we drove home.

I wanted her to show Jason and Mom her scratches when we got home but she would not remove the gauze.

Kody dropped by to pick up Freya and he had Zepp with him.
He wanted to take them home but they weren't ready so I offered to take them for ice cream then home.

Zepplyn is getting much better with the camera lately - doesn't mind getting her picture taken as much.

Hunter.

Freya.

After ice cream, I took the kids all over to Kody's to drop them off.
Freya finally took the guaze off to show Mom and Dad her injury but she would not let me get a picture of it.
Kody was worried it might need stitches so he was relieved to see it really was just scratches.
They are going to bath her though so it can get a good cleaning.

In other news, when I moved out to Alberta back in 2007, I drove my car at the time out here, my Pontiac Grand Am.
There was an issue with it around 10 years ago or so that made it so that it wouldn't start.
It had something to do with the security and it kept happening and I didn't want to deal with it at the time so I just put it in our garage and bought a new car.

A few years later we discovered that if we took the battery out, it would reset the security issue so we tried it and sure enough, it worked, the car started.

Since then I've offered it to my son, my brother, my niece and nobody wanted it.
It does need some other work - it's been sitting out there for a really long time.
I've been wanting to just get rid of it and Shennelle's son just got his licence and they were looking for a vehicle for him and she knew about my Grand Am so she asked me about it and I told her if they came and got it - they could have it as is.

And they took me up on it.

It took some work but they got it out of the garage and loaded up on a trailer.

So it was good-bye to kind of an era - I really loved this car, I knew that I'd never use it again but I'm glad that someone might.
Hopefully they can get it running,  I'd much rather see someone get some use out of it over sending it to a junkyard, that seemed such a waste.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
