Weigh in Wednesday #5

Weigh in day turned out to be a good thing!

247.4 lbs - that is a loss of .8 which I was good with.  I am still going in the proper direction!

Back to an old favorite for lunch today, avocado toast.  I added some roasted chicken for some extra protein and it took it to another level of deliciousness!

School started today and Miss A looks thrilled.  It is her first day of big girl school, she will be going for full days.  Why do they seem to grow up so fast?

She is at her desk and she is ready to learn!

My mom was going to dye my hair for me tonight but ended up babysitting.  She sent me this picture Little Mr. H.  Poor little guy is not feeling very well tonight.  It is so awful when they are sick and you can't take it away for them.  Hope he is feeling better soon.

On the schedule tonight was "Rest or Cross Train".  My plan was to go swimming on Wednesdays until I realized today that the pool is always closed for September for maintenance.  So I ended up not doing anything specific but still racked up 30 min on the treadmill by hopping on it every hour for a five minute walk.

Fitbit Stats - Nailed them.
I had to take my raincoat to work today and wore it for a few of my walks this morning but it cleared up throughout the day.

We stopped over to visit my dear friend again this evening and stayed late so supper tonight is going to be some popcorn and I am heading to eat it right now.

I just realized that I haven't been writing down what I have been eating and I still want to keep track so I am going to try to remember tomorrow night.  I just think it would be good information for me to look back at if I need to figure out how to either adjust it to work better for me or to duplicate it if it is working well.

Until next time, be happy!

Just an Off Day

Today was a very sad day and it was an off day.  It felt awkward & bad funky all day.
We learned at work that our lead admin who was just transferred to another office, lost her son yesterday, out of nowhere.  He passed away in his sleep.  He was only in his early thirties.  So devastating.  I can't imagine what they are going through.  I haven't been able to stop thinking about them all.  It's just heartbreaking.

Then we learned that one of our foreman and his assistant foreman were let go today.  I am not sure of all of the circumstances surrounding the decision but it doesn't matter.  They were both nice guys and I've been working with the one fellow since I started 9 years ago and the other for the last 4 years anyway.  I am going to miss them both and I hope that everything works out for them.  It is a difficult time here in Alberta to find work so I just hope that doesn't end up being the case for them!

My Honey whipped up my absolutely favorite salad for supper and some steak.  It was perfect.

I did my schedule work out for today:
5 min brisk walk:
5 min easy run
1 min walk
5 min easy run
5 min cool down walk

It hardly seems like much of a workout but this is just the beginning, I know it will build from here!
It felt good to be back on the treadmill.

Afterwards I popped over to visit my friend for a bit.  She is going to be moving soon back to PEI and I am sure going to miss her.  I plan on getting lots of visits in before she goes!

Fitbit Stats for today - BOOM! Got 'er done!

I am a little concerned for my weigh in tomorrow because I didn't work out as much as I could have/should have.  I was careful about my eating though and didn't go overboard in that respect so we will see what happens.

I am trying to convince myself to be okay with a "stay the same" and to be prepared for a possible gain.  A loss (any amount) would be wonderful.

Until tomorrow - be happy!

Monday, Monday!

Monday morning so heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it's off to work I go!
I like my job so I don't mind at all, the only tough part is getting out of my cozy bed in the morning, it's especially hard when My Honey is off for the day and still in there.  He is so warm, he is like my own personal heater so the winters will be even harder when I have to leave him to get up to a freezing cold house!

Lunch today was................you guessed it, left over pizza!

When I arrived back at the office after lunch, I had a package sitting on my desk.  It is just so exciting to get mail even if it is something I ordered myself!

I was reading a blog about reading and the blogger reviewed 5 books she had read over the summer.  This was her favorite and as I am always looking for book suggestions, I thought I would give it a try.

I took advantage of today being a "rest" day on my training schedule and we took a quick trip to the neighboring town to pick up some groceries for the week.  We went to Original Joe's for supper and I indulged in an extra spicy virgin Caesar.  It was well worth it.  I usually have at least two but one was good to satisfy my craving tonight.

They had introduced a new menu since we'd been there last so I tried this new dish "Chicken Tostada Salad".  It could have used a tad more corn & black beans but otherwise I give it two thumbs up.  I cleaned my plate and that is unusual for me.

My Honey had the "Pacific Rim Noodle Soup" and he liked it.  I don't think he liked it as much as his pho but it did the trick.

Fitbit Stats for today - Even though I didn't have a "workout" I still was able to meet all my goals which I am happy about!

Another great day in the life of A&J!

Until next time, be happy!

Pizza, Pizza and More Pizza!

We woke up to sunshine, YAY!  A rainy day is nice every now and then but it sure is nice when the sun reappears.  It kind of sprinkled a little throughout the day but they were those beautiful sun showers which are actually kind of nice.

First thing My Honey did this morning was head out and fire up the clay oven.  He built this oven himself last year with his parents help as an experiment and it turned out wonderfully.  It took a few months to cure and it was a lot of work but it was so worth it.
He never seizes to amaze me with the things he can do.  I think that he is proud of it and so he should be!

He is extremely happy with the outcome and we fire it up everytime we go there.  Lots of things have been cooked in it to date but the main thing it is used for is PIZZA!

He just loves making silly faces for me when I want to take his photo!  He built this peeler himself as well.

We had to run back to the store for a couple of things so I grabbed the third specialty flavour of Lays to try.  My son said these were his favorite of the three and I think I agree (the cheesy onion have moved to a close second).

This is my in-laws garden, isn't it spectacular?  That corn is probably twice my height.  They always have such a beautiful garden.  I wish they lived closer so we could see them more often first off and then secondly, I would love to be able to raid the garden more often!

Look at that, raspberry bushes as far as the eye can see!

Don't they look delicious?

I can confirm that they were VERY DELICIOUS!  I kept going over and picking a few to eat, it's hard to stop when they are so yummy!

The sweet peas are quite lovely as well.  I grew some myself years ago when I lived in Dartmouth but I am not sure they looked as nice as these ones.

First pizza is in the oven, look at that crust bubbling up. I am hungry already!

The first time he cooked pizza's in the oven I recorded it because it was so awesome.  The pizza cooked in just 2 min 20 seconds.  The inside of the oven was so hot that it melted the thermometer!

He experiments with the dough and toppings each time as well.  I think he has perfected the dough and the simple Margarita pizza is my favorite but it is fun to try new flavour combinations.  He tried a few today.
This is the "Squash" pizza, or as the nephew dubbed it "Orange Mess".  It had butternut squash, gorgonzola cheese, cooked swiss chard and caramelized onions.

It turned out great, tasty combo!

This was another test combination - "Perogy Pizza".  He made a perogy stuffing (mashed potatoes, cottage cheese & bacon bits) which he spread on first as the "sauce" then he added some shredded mozza and more bacon bits.

When it came out of the oven, he drizzled it with sour cream and tossed on some green onions.  This was my favorite of the three new ones we tried.  Kind of a dangerous combo because it tasted so awesome!

His final test was the "beet" pizza or the "Purple People Beeter" as his nephew named it.  He made a pesto out of beets then added capers, basil, caramelized onions and feta.

I thought it looked very beautiful. You could definitely taste the earthiness from the beets which I don't mind.  It tasted good but I think I would have liked something sweet added, maybe a drizzle of honey?

For dessert MIL made fresh biscuits and they were slightly sweet.  OMG, they were just so delicious.  Home in PEI we always have our strawberry shortcakes on biscuits and they are my absolute, hands down, favorite dessert of all time.  This was exactly the same except with fresh raspberries subbed in in place of the strawberries.  I think I inhaled it, it was that good.

*I must confess that she sent home the leftovers with us and instead of supper, I had another one of these the very same day when we got home.  I had to put the extra biscuits in the freezer because I knew I could not resist them.  Next time I get a craving though, I will be warming one of those bad boys up!

All in all, My Honey pumped out 16 pizzas today.  We will take the extras home and freeze them for lunches and suppers down the road.

I really enjoyed our weekend there (I always do) but after supper it was time to head back home.  One of us had to work in the morning (unfortunately that someone was me, ha ha).

Fitbit Stats for today - Again I didn't meet all my goals today.  Tomorrow that will all change.
Tomorrow I am starting the 8 week training plan to run a 10K.
Monday is a "Rest" day which I feel a little bad about because I just missed 4 days of working out but I want to follow the plan exactly as it is laid out.  I will still go for walks every hour so I won't be entirely sedentary tomorrow.

Until next time, be happy!

Stormy Saturday

We had plans to go for a nice long bike ride today and to fire up the clay oven and cook some pizzas.  Mother Nature however had other plans.  It rained all day long today, from the time we woke up until the time we went to bed.  Not just light rain either, heavy pouring rain and high winds.

So plans changed and we got to spend the a nice day inside enjoying each other's company.

Breakfast was a bowl of cereal with bananas and FRESH RASPBERRIES on top.  I wish it could be raspberry season all year long.

Good Morning cuddles from Lily.

Since it looks like we have to ditch the pizza for supper plan, My Honey put plan B into action and made some pretty good looking pasta from scratch.

Pasta is ready to go, now on to the pesto making with fresh basil from the garden.

My Honey picked up one of these mortars for himself and loved it so much he picked one up for his mom too.  He is such a good son!

Rainy day activities, yup that says Ebola - not sure why?  Kids minds work in mysterious ways, ha ha!

Mew looks cozy.  I think maybe he's taking to me a little, he doesn't hiss at me anymore and run away so that's good.

Sharing the bed, so cute that these two are friends.

The supper MIL and My Honey prepared looks delicious, two kinds of pasta from scratch, breaded chicken and greek salad.  Yum Yum!

It was a feast and I enjoyed every bit of it.

There was fresh gingerbread cake for dessert and I just couldn't pass it up.  It was moist, gingery and warm and just so stinking great that I even had a second piece!  Thankfully eveyone else enjoyed it as much as I did so there were no leftovers to worry about later.

Seeing these two share the bed made my heart happy!

So remember I told you My Honey is an artist with a certain flare for stick men.  This was his rainy day activity "Famous Dorks". (Yes he is a grown man!)  I really enjoy his sense of humour.

More of his awesome artwork.  His nephew did some artwork of his own but I forgot to take a photo of it, bummer!

I took some time and copied the training schedule I found onto my calendar.

My plan is to start on Monday and this is what the first three days look like.

I like the artwork and the sayings in the calendar, I am happy I found it.

I finished off a novel I was reading today.  I was an easy read and I enjoyed it.  Not the best book every but good for a rainy afternoon.

We also watched a couple movies that we picked up at the bargain store yesterday.  This one was set in Australia, it was differant in a quirky way but enjoyable.  Then ending took me by surprise.

This one has been out for awhile but I'd never seen it.  I was surprised by how many famous actors/actresses were in it.  I thought it was going to be dark & depressing at first but it wasn't and I quite enjoyed it.  I always enjoy period movies like these so no surprise there.

I ended up finishing another dish cloth this afternoon.  The nephew decided he wanted to learn how to knit today as well so MIL taught him.  He actually did really well and stuck with it so he and I knitted for most of the evening.  He ended up making a scarf for his pup at home and darn it, I forgot to take a picture of it.  I was impressed that he stuck with it and you could really see his improvement from the beginning to the end.

Fitbit Stats - my goals took a hit with the weather but again, can't change it now so moving on.
I will consider this a true rest day.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
