The last day before a vacation at work is always super busy because I like to have everything cleared off of my desk and my inbox cleared out.
I was pretty much the only one in the office most of the day.
Bonnie and Shennelle were both off then all the guys were out in the field watching a robot camera go through a pipeline.
Kody stopped over early at our place to pick up Freya but she opted to stay with Mom.
She was making videos of course - one of her favorite past times.
Dun dun dun......
The Chicken Tale.
Freya has such a great imagination.
I worked through lunch then left a bit early so I could go home and pack and finish up a few things there.
Plus we are taking Professor Snuggles to the vet on our way to the city to have him put down.
Mom gave him a whole can of tuna for a treat today and I just wanted to love up on him a whole bunch before we left.
Even though we feel like it's the only option - it's still not easy and we feel just terrible - he's been a really good cat.
He's clean and not overly demanding but he's funny.
He likes to lay on the floor with his head kind of twisted up - it looks so funny.
He wasn't overly cuddly like Paddington is but there where times when he did want attention or snuggles and it was nice.
Morgan had dropped her dog off at the groomers which is a street over from mine so she and Whitney came over to visit and wait for him to be ready to be picked up.
It is quite hot out there today and she's very pregnant so she didn't want to have to walk home and then all the way back up the hill again.
It was nice to have a visit with her, Mom loves seeing them too.
Freya just loves Whitney and even though her and Theia were downstairs playing, she came up and stayed with Whitney the whole time.
Jason got home and only had about 15 minutes to pack then we had to hit the road to make our vet appointment.
We'd picked up some medication the other night for Professor Snuggles because he gets very anxious in the car, he hates it and we wanted him to be calm for the drive there since it is an hour long drive.
The medication didn't work as we expected so Jason sat in the back with him and held him and snuggled him the whole way there trying to keep him calm.
The appointment was tough.
It felt like we were waiting forever for the vet to come but I think they were just giving us time but it was already hard enough, waiting all that time just made it tougher.
Saying good bye to a pet is so tough because they are so much a part of our lives.
We've had Professor Snuggles for 10 years - Jason found him out in the field almost starved, it looked like someone had dropped him off out there.
That happens often unfortunately.
He's had a good life and we feel like we tried all that we could and this was the very last option.
So while we were at peace with our decision, it was still very hard.
We stayed with him the whole time and loved on him - I hope that's what he felt, that he was very loved.
Jason's tribute to Professor Snuggles.
He definitely had his own personality.
He loved cardboard boxes.
His upside down pose - so funny.
He wasn't crazy about the Santa hat.
This one cracks me up every time - When we first got Paddington, these two fought like crazy.
We thought we were going to take Paddington back but they eventually came to an agreement.
They still had scuffles here and there over the years but it was just as likely to find them laying together snuggling and cleaning one another.
I think they ended up being good pals.
When we were getting evacuated, Jason let him out in the truck and watching the outdoors seemed to make the trip better for him.
Buddies.
This is his goofy way of laying on the floor, it always made me smile.
See - they did like each other.
They were brothers from another mother.
It was such a hard thing to do and leaving him there just felt so wrong somehow.
It's not something I want to go through ever again.
After we left there, we grabbed something to eat then headed to my sister's in the city.
We are going to stay there for the night.
When we got there, Jason went to the gym and I hung out with Jen.
We went to bed much later than I should have seeing as we had to be up at 5 am to get ready to get to the airport on time.
Did not reach my step count.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
