Puzzle, Running and Gingerbread Men (July 27, 2024)

It's hard to believe but it's a Saturday and I had absolutely nothing on the agenda for today.

Kody and Haylee were in Barrhead with the kids attending a Demolition Derby which I have absolutely zero interest in and Jason was at work so I had the day to myself.

I spent the morning drinking coffee and watching some When Calls the Heart.

I also did laundry and cleaning - you know fun stuff.

I worked on my blog too - I've been a bit behind.

I stopped over at Nadine's to help her out with her cricut a bit.

I put together one of the puzzles I got in my thrift haul the other day - a 500 piece.

I couldn't resist.

I had to run 8k for my long run this week so I hopped on the treadmill and got that done.

It was a little tough - I had to put the speed down to 3.5 a few times so it took longer than I expected but I got it done and that's what matters!

I put some of the muffin tins I got the other day into a salt and vinegar bath hoping that they would get rusty and crusty.
It sort of looks like it's working.
(Spoiler - it didn't work, when I took them out, the rust just washed right off).

I got some gingerbread men cut out for some crafts I want to make (that's what the muffin tins are for as well).
I coffee stained them and let them dry overnight so I can get them glued together tomorrow.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

City Trip and Thrift Haul (July 26, 2024)

Kody needs some new tires and Jason found some second hand ones at a place in the city so I was going to go in and pick them up for him.

I had wanted to get on the road early but Freya spent the night and we went to bed late so I wanted to let her sleep in.

She wanted to come with me but I think she would have been bored so I convinced her to go home - Haylee was taking the girls to Rita's today so Freya was good with that.

I switched vehicles with my brother so I could take his truck in case I didn't have room in my car and I did a few errands in town before leaving then just as I was about to leave, the tire shop called me.
Turns out the tires are actually in Calgary and they can ship them up but they won't be here until Monday.

I decided to go to the city anyway but I did take my brother his truck back and just took my car.
I planned on exchanging the stroller with the missing wheel while I was there and I had to return something at the Italian Market for Jason as well.

I decided to do some thrift shopping so stopped at the second hand store in Barrhead, then at the one in Westlock and finally at a Goodwill in the city and I got some good stuff.

Here's some of my haul.

I found this thread at Goodwill and even though I normally find their prices there outrageous for a second hand store, this thread was a good deal.
I got a quilted bedspread there as well for $20 which I thought was more than it should have been but I did get it because I have a few ideas of some things that I want to make with it.

I got a bunch of puzzles at the one in Westlock for dirt cheap.
It will be hard to stop myself from starting them right away.
I have a few things that I want to do first then I may reward myself with the pleasure of doing one.

I have a plan for this - I think I'll use the IOD Christmas tree mould on it.
It's hard finding actual wooden frames so I thought it was a good find.

I found this lamp that I was going to add some Christmas decor too and then possibly sell but now that I've looked closer at it, I think I want to keep it.
It needs some cleaning up but that's ok, it even works.

When I got home from the city, I was about to hop on the treadmill but Nadine called and wanted to come over for a visit so my workout got pushed back.
We had a nice visit - it was nice to catch up.

I did still do my workout - it was after 8:30 by the time I started but I wanted to get it done.

I did a speed workout, started at 4.0 and worked my way up to 6.0.

It felt really great today - I felt strong.

After Jason made us smoothies for a snack.
So refreshing.

Fire in Jasper, Cake Pops and 9 Months Old Today (July 25, 2024)

We got hammered with rain today unfortunately it is a day too late.
There were a couple of forest fires making their way to the town of Jasper and they did hit there last night.
I'm not sure what the damage there was but there was definitely homes and businesses lost and it's so sad.
We love Jasper - it's such a beautiful spot.

You can't really tell from these pictures but the sky was looking apocalyptical - I think the rain on the fires was causing all the smoke in the air and the strange sky color.

We needed the rain so it's good and hopefully it helped in Jasper somewhat even if it was too late for some of the town.

It was just a strange feeling out there today.

I ended up working through my lunch hour to get some things done so I just went home an hour earlier at the end of the day.

I did a full body weight training today then I also I hopped on the treadmill to get my steps in.
I just walked.

It took me almost an hour to get the steps in that I needed but even though I did only walk, I was still pretty sweaty when I finished.

Freya wanted to come spend the night and as soon as Jason got home from work she wanted to make dough.

Jason asked her what kind of dough and she said cake pops which they've never made before so not sure where that idea came from but that's just what they did.

They turned out pretty good - she insisted that I have one so I did try a bit and it was good.

Little Miss Eden is 9 months old today so Haylee posted some pictures to commemorate.

She is such a cutie.

I love her little smile.

The little dress is super cute too.

New Shoe Rack and Creepy Video (July 24 2024)

I've been doing so well with my eating and exercising this last couple weeks and it makes me feel good about myself.

I wanted to get my workout done on my lunch hour so I hopped on the treadmill.

I did a speed workout today, 1 minute walking followed by 1 minute running, starting off at 4.0 and working my way up to 6.0.

It is such a great workout - felt good to be done!

The two shelves I ordered for shoes arrived today.
They seemed a little flimsy and I wasn't even going to bother putting them together, I was just going to send them back but then I decided to just try one out and I actually really like it.
It fit a LOT of our shoes as well.
I'm glad I decided to give it a try.

If I move the coat rack over a little I will be able to put both of the shoe rack shelves here side by side.
So I will do that but not tonight.

Freya wanted to come over for a visit.
Jason kept her occupied (or maybe it was the other way around) while I put the shelf together.
She wanted to make a TikTok video so she was performing and getting Jason to film it.

Then they sat down and put the little show together.

This is the little video they came up with, of course it's creepy, just what she likes.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy.

I Love Crafting (July 23, 2024)

Freya spent the night so I texted Jason this morning to see how things were going and he sent me these pictures.

Freya having noodles for breakfast.

She loves spicy noodles - we can't keep them in the house.

I had planned on working out on my lunch hour but when I went home for lunch I didn't really feel like it so I just hung out with Jason and Freya instead.

She didn't want me to go back to work but I had to so I suggested her and Jason drop me off and then come back later and pick me up - she liked that idea.
She loves coming to my office.
She was sitting at my desk and plunking away on the keyboard like she worked there and she thought that was just great.

She wanted to decorate so she drew a bunch of happy faces and hung them up all over the inside and outside of my office.
On the door,

And on the wall.
I left them up after they left because they make my heart happy to see them.

They picked me up after work and Jason showed her what cat tv was.

Hazel was trying really hard to get that mouse.

Then we ended up taking her home because Zepplyn was over there with Haylee so she wanted Freya to come over and play with her.

I stopped over at Nadine's and helped her decorate some bicycle wheels for a wedding coming up this weekend.

Then when I got home, I sewed two more banners.
I love how they turned out - I love creating stuff like this, it is so satisfying.
I'm in the crafting mood now, hopefully it keeps up - I have a Christmas Craft fair to prepare for.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy.

Virtual Family Visit (July 22, 2024)

Monday - you know what that means, weigh in day.

I was 217 lbs.

I was disappointed because I was honestly expecting to be down today.

I've been doing so well at following plan and working out the last week.

I was a little bummed but I feel like if I just keep going and don't give up, I will see results eventually.

So I was up 1.4 lbs but that's ok, just going to keep on trucking.

Jason and I have a LOT of shoes and they are all piled at the front door and it's driving me crazy so I was looking for some storage solutions.
I found this shelf idea that I thought Jason could build but then I ended up find some tall shelves on amazon for fairly cheap so I ordered a couple.
I'm not sure how good they'll be but I'm willing to give them a try.

I didn't get a long run in on the weekend so I did it today - I'm kind of following a half marathon training plan.
I'm doing speed workouts, the weight training and 5k runs throughout the week then on the weekend, I'm going to do whatever long run the training plan calls for.
This weekend is the first weekend and it was a 4 mile/6.4k run on the agenda today.

I did it on the treadmill - it wasn't that bad.

Jason had Freya out all day playing - they were catching bugs today.
Her and those rubber boots, ha ha.

Haylee took Freya to the lake with a few friends this evening and we kept Eden with us.

Chilling with Papa.

Such a sweetie.

We took her for a walk.

She fell asleep almost immediately.

Love her little toes.

Some front yard swinging with Papa and Grandma.

Silly faces.

Always so content.

It was late when Haylee came back to pick her up because they were having so much fun at the lake.
Freya wanted to stay and spend the night with us though so Haylee just kind of swapped out kids - she took Eden but she left Freya but that was fine with us.
We are always happy to have her.

Miss Whitney is 2 months old today so Morgan posted some comparison pictures.
Here she is at 1 month.

And now at two months.

My sister took my mom to PEI and they were having a family gathering today so my sister called me so I could video chat with everyone.
It was so nice to see them all.

My Auntie Betty and cousin Theresa.

My Uncle Wade - he doesn't like pictures being taken of himself.

My Uncle Gerald who is also my Godfather - Mom will be staying with him for about a month then my sister will go back and pick her up and take her back to NS.

My cousins Tricia and Chavonne.

Pam and Chavonne.

Chavonne and the crew - our newest little family member is there in her Grandma Dawn's arms - Poppy.

Chavonne with my Auntie and Uncle - Allan and Arlene.

Mom, Tricia and my Auntie Linda.

Tricia, Linda and my cousin Stella.

My cousins Lisa and Chavonne.

Cousins Krista and Madison.

My Auntie Coleen and cousin Fenton.

My sister Jen and cousins Dawn and Chavonne.

Aunty Betty and cousin Blair.

Uncle Jimmy and cousin Todd.

These were all pictures that Chavonne took and shared so I kind of scooped them.
I wish it wasn't so far away or that airfare to get there was cheaper so I could have went but the next best thing was seeing them all via video chat so I'm grateful.

Plan is to go there next year so I really hope we can all get together then and that everyone is happy and healthy and able to attend.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
