Papa & Eden Have a Play Date and Off to Toronto (May 7, 2025)

It's my last day in Calgary so I packed up everything and put my luggage in my car before walking over to the office.

I'm going to miss the vibe and energy of working in the city - hopefully I'll have an opportunity to come back again soon.

I noticed this manhole cover on my way to the office and just loved the art on it.
I love when they take everyday mundane things that are functional but aren't necessarily pretty  and make them into something beautiful or interesting.

We all went out for lunch today at a place called Craft, Mark, Pam, Christine and myself.
I had this Salmon Teriyaki bowl and OMG it was delicious.
I've thought about it so many times since then and can't wait to go back and have it again.

We finished up our meetings around 3 then I went to an office and worked until around 4:30 then I left the city and headed to Edmonton to meet Jason.
We're flying out to Toronto later on tonight.

I've been wanting to read this book for some time now - not sure if it will be my thing but Cecilia Blomdahl (a vlogger I like to watch) loves the series - says its her favorite - so I'm going on her recommendation.
I bought it on audible and downloaded it so I'd be able to listen to it on the plane tonight.
I actually listened to it for the whole drive from Calgary to Edmonton and so far, I'm enjoying it.

Jason went and picked up Eden so he could spend some time with her today - he took her to the park.

Her little belly hanging out - so adorable.

She was having a grand old time at the park just climbing up everything.

She's growing up so much - she can go down the slide by herself now.

So they did that for awhile.

Chilling on the bench.

She loves being outdoors.

All that fresh air and running around tuckered her out pretty good and she had a nice long nap on Papa's lap.
She's so precious - she looks like an angel baby.

Freya came for a quick visit with too before he took them home and headed in to meet me in Edmonton.

I had a few hours to spare when I made it Edmonton so I did a bit of shopping.

I ended up getting a couple new pairs of sneakers - I got some Saucony's that I can't wait to try on a run.

I also got these for walking.
They are similar to the Nikes I had that I shrunk.

When Jason met me, we went for a walk so I could get the rest of my steps then we went for some supper at Original Joe's in Leduc.
I had a beef dip - it wasn't that good.

Then we dropped our vehicles off at Park2Go and made it to the airport with lots of time to kill before our flight was leaving.

We found some massage chairs that we tested out.
They were kind of violent - so it was more like getting knocked around for a bit.

Our flight left at 1 am - Jason got us seats in the first row and it was just the two of us so that was nice.

I actually was even able to sleep a little and before you know it, we were landing in Toronto.
I'll pick back up there for tomorrow's post.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Another Walk in Another Calgary Park (May 6, 2025)

It was another day full of meetings.
I went to a food court type place in the office for lunch today with Mark.

I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to do for supper.
I finally settled on this pizza place that was about a 20 minute walk from the hotel.
It was a really nice walk.

The reviews were really great and the pictures of the pizza looked good so I was kind of excited.
I got two little pizzas.
This one had tomatoes and leeks - it was the leeks that sold me.

Then this was just a NY Deli one.

The couple that worked there were really friendly and nice but the pizza was just very ok - I was disappointed.
I only had one slice of each.
I am going to take the rest of it to Jason to try.

After supper I found another park to go for a walk in.

I had to drive over to it but it wasn't that far from the downtown at all.

It was another nice evening.

The sun was shining away.
I love nice weather so much.

Some of the views from the trail were very beautiful.

What a nice place to have a house.

It looked over the river.

I love how the fence runs all along the edge of the trail.

This was looking back up the river the other way.

So nice.

I want to come back when everything is green and check it out again - I bet it will be even more beautiful.

Just working on my photography skills.

I made it down to the bridge that I was just looking down at.

Whenever we come across a bridge - we feel compelled to walk across it.

So of course I did.

It's not that pretty blue water like the river I saw last night but still has it's own beauty.

That meant that I had to walk back up the stairs and there were A LOT of them!

Back home in Swan Hills, Jason had Freya over for a visit since we are heading out to Toronto tomorrow and will be gone all weekend.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Sunny Day in Calgary (May 5, 2025)

I was hoping to get up early and go out for a walk before work, that didn't happen.

Instead I had my shower and got ready and I did have enough time to stop in for some breakfast.

They put on a really fantastic breakfast here at this hotel.
This is just the coffee bar.

They usually have several hot options like eggs, sausage, beans, bacon and always a vegetarian option.
They had bacon so I loaded up on that plus I had a spoonful of eggs.

They have a fresh fruit and yogurt bar.

Cereals and oatmeal with all the toppings.

Lots of juices and milk.

Pastries.

More juices and drinks.

The whole area is huge and spacious.

Then there is a huge seating area with floor to ceiling windows.

Then I walked over to the office.

The sun was out and it was shaping up to be a lovely day.

I had a hotel office that I worked in for the morning, our meetings are only starting this afternoon.
On my lunch I went for a walk outside, I did stop in at Winners and had a look around.

Jason used to like this place when he lived here years ago.
He wondered if it was still here - it is.
I decided to pop in there and get a chicken shawarma for lunch.

We got lots accomplished this afternoon , finished up around 4 pm.
I walked back over to the hotel and I'd only eaten half of my shawarma at lunch so I had the rest of it for supper.

Then I searched up a park to go running and drove over to it.
It ended up being not that far away and I likely could have walked but oh well.

I had to make sure to take a picture of the street I parked on in case I got lost so I'd be able to find my way there again.

I walked out of the residential area where I'd parked and found the trail, it took me over a bridge.

It crossed over this river that you can just barely see through the trees.

I think the park the gps had taken me too was at the top of this hill but I wasn't up to walking up there.

The trail I went on instead was so pretty.
I had wanted to run but there was a ton of people around and for some reason I just couldn't make myself start running.
I felt kind of embarrassed for some reason.
So I just walked but it was still activity so all good.

There were a couple of geese with all their babies along the trail - they were garnering lots of attention.

That's a fancy looking bridge.
I did walked across it then back - there was construction on the other side so it was detoured and I couldn't go the way I needed to so I just walked back.

It was a GORGEOUS day out there and I think everyone in Calgary was here at the park tonight.

The blooms are all out on the trees - so beautiful.
I love this time of year.

A blooming tree next to a romantic looking little bridge.
Love it.
I walked for about an hour or so then went to a nearby Winners to have a look around.
Ended up buying myself a new pair of capris.

I was starting to feel hungry at this point but couldn't really decide on a place to go eat so just went back to my room and had popcorn, fruit and yogurt.
I also got a protein bar from the hotel shop.

I started watching this new show on Netflix, North of North.
It was kind of cute - I stayed up way too late and binge watched the whole entire first season.

I'm going to regret that in the morning.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
