Freya Gets Her First X-Ray (Jan.27, 2025)

The whole reason for our city trip is that Freya needed to go for an x-ray and an ultra sound on her finger.

She had a big lump on her middle finger that doesn't really bother her but Kody took her to the Doctor to get it checked out just in case and they ordered up these extra tests.

First up was the ultra sound.
As you can see, she wore her new yellow outfit.

She did a great job - the technician was asking questions and I could tell she was shy but she tried to answer her questions.

Then it was on to the x-ray.
The technician was younger and she was really good with Freya.
She explained everything that was going on and then showed Freya the x-rays afterwards, showed her the gaps in between her joints or the growth plates - the extra room for all of her bones to grow.
I wasn't allowed to take a picture but it was neat.

Then it was back home we went.
I dropped her off to Haylee then went straight to work.
I had a few things that I wanted to make sure I got done before heading out for vacation and it took me a few hours.

Then when I got home, the girls came over for a visit.
Eden is developing this funniest little personality.
She's not saying too much yet - she does like to yell but it just nonsense and it sounds so funny.

Our girl.
She's so sad that we are leaving - we are sad to leave her as well - we love traveling but missing the girls is a really hard part.

Luckily tonight Rita and Zepplyn dropped by to invite Freya to go swimming so that was a great distraction for her.

I mean - isn't she the cutest?

I think sitting at the little table makes her feel like a big girl and she just loves it.
She also loooooves clementines and blueberries so that was what she was snacking on.

Jason got home from work an hour early so we packed up and headed to the city.

We stayed in a new hotel out by the airport - the clerk was just so friendly and helpful.
It was late when we got there so we pretty much just went straight to bed.
Our flight leaves at 7 am so we have to be to the airport by 5 am which means a 4 am wake up call.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Chuck E Cheese with My Girl (Jan.26, 2025)

I am heading into the city today to take Freya in for an xray.

She has a cyst on her finger so the doctor wanted an xray and they made the appointment in Spruce Grove for tomorrow at 9 am.

Kody couldn't get the day off so I said I would take her.

I wanted to get my steps in early so right after my coffee, I hopped on the treadmill.

I did a 2 minute walk 3 minute run at 4.0 on repeat for the whole time and it felt so good to get back to running somewhat.

Plus most of my steps are done for the day - way to go me!

After my run, I packed my bags for the city tonight then also for Phoenix.

We will be turning around and heading back to the city tomorrow night when Jason gets off work because we fly out 7 am Tuesday morning.

I picked up Freya and we headed in around 12:30

The first thing on my agenda was to run a Get Well card to a co-worker, Jason, and he lives in Sherwood Park which is quite out of the way from where we were going but I didn't mind.

Then Freya came up with this idea that she wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese.
She told Jason (she was talking to him on the phone) and he ended up sending some cash and told me to take her.

So I did.

Freya kept talking about how she wanted to see Chuck E Cheese and he walked right up as soon as we got there.

She wouldn't go near him for a picture though, just kind of stood back and watched him.

I thought she might regret it when he left but she didn't.

Paying to play the games is actually pretty reasonable but the food is where they get you.
She wanted dippin dots - they were nearly 7 bucks for this little dish.

This tiny personal pizza was nearly 16 dollars - CRAZY!

This was little 3d ride that she did.

There were three different versions you could watch and she watched them all.

She didn't want to get up close and personal to the real Chuck E Cheese that was walking around but she was ok with getting up close to this animated one to take a picture.

Some of the rides/games were geared more towards littler ones but Freya was ok with checking them out anyway.

She didn't last the whole hour that we had paid for but that's ok - I think we got our money's worth.
She picked out a few things with her points.
I had to make a stop at Walmart for a few things and I wanted to make sure we got back to the hotel in time to be able to hist the swimming pool before it closed.

She got this little lizard with her points at Chuck E Cheese and she noticed that it had bugs inside it so she had to perform surgery and get them out.

Dr. Freya hard at work.

She got them out.

She was hungry and wanted pizza so I ordered one - it got there pretty quickly - we had a slice each then headed to the pool.

There was one lady in the hot tub but other than that - we had the whole pool to ourselves.
I stayed in the pool with her for a bit then I went into the hot tub and ended up chatting away the rest of the evening chatting with the lady.

Freya was having a grand time finding things, hiding things, just playing like she does.
The lady was super impressed with her imagination - she is so imaginative.

She picked out this outfit at Walmart and wanted to try it on.

She loved it and was posing in all of these different positions.
So cute.

Then it was off to never never land for us both.

New Hair, Massage and Cake Decorating (Jan.25, 2025)

When Freya got up, we had a bit of a snuggle for a bit then she wanted her Auntie Zepplyn to come over so I said she could invite her.

Crystal was heading to work for the day so dropped her off around 11.

While the girls were busy playing, I decided to take care of getting rid of my grey.
I have a lot of it.
I don't normally do my own hair because it is so hard to see what I'm doing in the back but it's the front that bothers me the most so I figured if I got that really good, even if the back wasn't great, It would do.

I decided to go with a darker color so I had to do all of my hair, not just the roots so I had picked up three boxes of the same color and I needed all of them to cover all of my hair.

While it was working it's magic, I decided to work on a puzzle.
A 500 piece Disney puzzle.
I knew once I started I wouldn't be able to stop but I didn't have much else for plans today so figured it would be ok.

I left the dye on longer than it called for because my grey is pretty stubborn.
Then I washed it out and dried it and I think it turned out pretty good.

It's darker than normal but I like it.

It was a nice day out and the girls wanted to go for a walk so we walked to the store and they each picked out a cake mix and some icing.

Back at the house, they both mixed up their cakes and we got them in the oven to bake.
Once they were cooked, we let them cool and I took them and dropped them off at Kody & Haylee's because I had a massage appointment to get to at 5:15.

I love massage day!

Kody brought the girls back up afterwards so they could decorate their cakes.
(I finished up my puzzle while they worked on their cakes).

Zepplyn did a Taylor Swift theme.

Freya did a Michael Jackson themed cake.

I'm always so blown away by her imagination.

They got a chance to play with Jason for a while when he got home from work then Kody picked them up a bit later and took them home,

Jason and I had a quiet evening and that's a wrap on today!

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Getting Tired of Shoveling Snow (Jan.24, 2025)

Guess what I did on my lunch hour today........Yup, that's right.......more shoveling.

We didn't get a whole lot of new snow but the snow that we did have was blowing around all over the place so I had to shovel everything again.

It took my whole lunch hour - at least I'm getting lots of activity in!

It didn't get me all of my steps though so as soon as I walked in the door after work, I went straight downstairs and hopped on the treadmill and it took me another 40 minutes to get the rest of my steps in.

Got it done and good thing I did too because just as I finished up, Kody stopped by with the girls for a visit.

I love seeing her with Dad's bear - it makes it feel like he's close to her and I like that.

Smiley girl.

Awwww, I love her.

She loves climbing up and sitting on this chair - I think it makes her feel like a big girl.

Freya of course wanted noodles as soon as she showed up at the house.

Grandma and Eden snuggled this way for quite some time.

Creepy - Freya loves rolling her eyes back and making it look like she has no pupils.

Kody came back and picked Eden up after Haylee got off work but Freya ended up spending the night.

I saw these cute chicks made out of egg shaped pieces of wood - I might try to make some.
I really like the glasses.

I'm back to thinking about re-doing my bedroom again and I really like this color palette.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

Enough With The Snow (Jan.23, 2024)

OMG, we had such a nice day yesterday then it was back to blowing and snowing today and we got a pile more snow.

So much in fact that I didn't even leave the office on my lunch hour - I just didn't want to go out into the cold and the wind and the snow.

One of the guys at work (Calvin) was telling me about this pizza place downtown Edmonton right by where his son just moved to so might have to check it out next time we go to town.

By the time I left work, the snow had stopped and the sun was trying to come out so I got to work shoveling everything, AGAIN, when I got home.
It was after 6 pm when I finished - I was cold and sore.
Please don't let it snow tomorrow.

I still needed some steps so I hopped on the treadmill right away to get them out of the way.

Always feels great to get that done.

Then I spent the rest of the evening just watching some tv.

I got sucked into watching some videos on some of the stuff Trump has been doing since he got in office like pardoning all 1500 people involved in the Jan.6 rush on the capitol.

I am still in shock that he is in office again - he's a loose cannon - I just think he's a horrible person,
I can't believe they voted him in.

I try not to watch it because it just stresses me out and there isn't a darn thing I can do about it so it's useless to worry about it but sometimes it's hard to ignore.

Only 4 years less 3 days to go (Unless he decides to change the law that only allows a US president to sit in office for a max of 8 years which I would not put past him).

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!

The Aftermath (Jan.22, 2025)

We got sooooo much snow last night.

Jason shoveled some this morning so we could get out of the house and get to the vehicles.

It was such a nice day out today after the crazy storm we had yesterday - what a switch.

I spent my show lunch hour shoveling snow.

These are the before - of course I got to take after photos.
I widened up this path.

Look how much this snow drifted into the driveway.
I didn't manage to get that done on my lunch hour.

I did get the bottom half of the driveway and the sidewalk done though.

When I got home from work, I got over the drifted part of the driveway at the top.
It took me over an hour to do it - managed to get all of my steps in today just from shoveling.

When I finished up, I was freezing and so hungry!
I made myself a toasted tuna sandwich for supper and it was delicious - hit the spot!

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
