We woke up to a lovely day.
We wanted to get out for a run first thing and we'd seen a park with some paths just up the street from our hotel room last night when we were going out to eat so we decided to walk over there and check it out.
It turned out to be lovely paths.
I love how the trees created a canopy over the pathway here.
Another thing I noticed that I loved is something that every trail system should have, lots of bathrooms along the way.
It was so pretty that I kept stopping to take pictures.
Jason and I don't run together normally since he is much faster than I and we went different directions but we ended up meeting up on the trail.
He was stopping and taking lots of pictures too and he got a couple of me.
The trails just kept going and going.
I planned on only going to 2.5k then turning back but it was so pretty I ended up going to 4k.
I did turn back then but Jason called out and told me I needed to come back to see what was up ahead.
A beautiful old trestle bridge.
My Honey and I.
I did head back after this.
I knew I was going to run more than 5k at this point, I didn't know how much, but I wanted to get as much as I could so I tried not to look at my fitbit at all.
Just some of the other things I saw along the way in the parks.
Pergola.
A good portion of the trails run alongside this river.
A really pretty stained glass picture in the park.
Jason saw this rock snake - he's way more observant than I am.
There was a little tunnel we went through with paintings all along the walls on both sides.
Jason stopped and took a few pictures.
He also filmed it too.
When I went back through the tunnel, I checked my fitbit to see how far I'd run and discovered that my fitbit had died.
So I don't know how far I actually ran.
I was close to 5k when I turned back and I didn't quite run right back to where I started but nearly so I'm thinking I ran around the 7k mark.
My exercise details are majorly skewed because I couldn't stop my fitbit until I charged it up.
That last km really killed me huh?
Ha ha.
Jason met back up with me and we realized it was 10:45 and checkout was at 11 so we had to truck it back to the hotel as quickly as we could.
Jason ran and packed up the car and I ran some of it, got there a little after him but was able to change, finish packing up and we were out by 11:10.
So a little late but not bad.
We are heading to Medicine Hat today which is about a 4.5 hour drive from here but we wanted to have some breakfast/lunch first.
We found this place called The Metal Kettle that had good reviews so we decided to try it.
I had cream cheese stuffed french toast that had berries up on top and of course I got a side of bacon with it.
Jason got the bacon and egg sandwich with fruit.
He's so good.
It was really cute.
I love the old movie theater in the downtown area.
I wanted an iced coffee so we went to this little bakery/coffee shop that we found.
It was really pretty on the inside.
They had some nice looking goodies on display so you know we had to try a few things.
The key lime pie she told us was a best seller so we had to try that.
This strawberry sugar cookie was delicious.
I wanted to try the chocolate chip cookie because it looked so good and it ended up being my favorite.
We also had a salted caramel cannoli - they called it a cannoli but it was more like a pastry.
It was my least favorite of everything that we tried but it was all good.
Even the napkins they gave us were pretty.
After our treat - we hit the road for Medicine Hat.
We were so impressed with Camrose though - we may plan a trip back and just spend a few days there.
It was an uneventful road trip which is the best kind.
We didn't even make any stops, just headed right to the hotel.
We checked in, took our luggage in then found a spot to go get some supper.
We found a spot called Osmows that made shawarmas which sounded good to both of us.
It was a fast food spot, maybe a chain but I've never heard of it before.
Modern Mediterranean Cuisine.
The make these Oz boxes so I tried one.
It had a bit of a sweet taste to it and it was super good - I really liked it - I would for sure eat here again.
Jason had a shawarma and he really liked his too.
From there we headed to a spot downtown that had ice cream so we could have some dessert.
The place was called Moose & Squirrel Bistro.
It was an outdoor spot.
There was some live entertainment going on - a dj.
It was kind of in an alley between two buildings and there were beautiful murals along boths sides of the wall.
They were so pretty.
Love these.
The artists that did the painting did a great job.
I ordered a sundae, it had maple syrup on it and cinnamon crunch cereal.
We sat and ate and listened to the music for a bit and just enjoyed the lovely evening.
It was gorgeous outside.
The whole place just had a really nice vibe to it.
There was a small casino in town so we decided to check that out.
There were these giant chairs just outside of it so I had to test them out.
Neither of us faired very well at the casino - we both lost 40 bucks - but it provided a little entertainment.
That was that for our first day in Medicine Hat.
That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
