Sapperton, Lonsdale Quay & Casino - Vancouver Day Two (Aug.8, 2019)

My Honey found a new place for us to have breakfast this morning that was really close to the hotel.
Columbia St Sandwich Company.

I had a bagel with cream cheese and jam.
It was so good - the bagel was nice and soft.
They also had m&m cookies just out of the oven cooling so you know I had to have one of those.

My Honey had the bacon & egg breakfast sandwich.
He loved it.

They had sausage rolls so you know we had to try one of those too.
It was a great place, very friendly, cheap and the food was fabulous.
I'd be here all the time if we lived nearby.

Instead of heading into the city first thing this morning, we hopped on the Sky Train and went the opposite way.
We got off on the next stop to ours just to see what we would see.

We just started walking up the street and we came across what looked like a half of a car.

It was a little one seater car.

I've never seen anything like it before.

There were supposedly lots of little shops and restaurants on the street we were on (according to google) but we didn't see that much, except this deli.

They made fresh sandwiches for under $5 and you could pick any meat and cheese they had at the counter.

We got one with salami and gouda to share and it was really good - well worth the price.

We shared a salami stick too.

They had tables right inside the store where you could sit and eat.

They sold all kinds of Dutch merchandise.

We also got a few chocolate bars.
The coconut one was on sale for .99 cents and ended up being the best one.

The street we were on was up a hill and there was a nice view looking over at the river.

We came across this little park and this girl was out there with the cutest puppy.

She had a little pink cast on one of her legs.

The girl told us that the pup had fallen from the second story balcony.
She's so little that she fit right under the railing.
That must have been so scary.

There are so many nice condos around - these ones must have great views.

We saw about all we could see in Sapperton so we hopped back on the Sky Train and headed downtown.

An add in the station I loved.

We got off at the waterfront station and you could take a ferry from there over to Lonsdale Quay (pronounce key) and the fare was covered by metro pass so we figured why not?

Lots of other people figured the same thing.

There was a nice market area on the other side.

There was a whole boardwalk area right along the water with seating.

Great view of downtown Vancouver too.

There was these set of stairs with kind of a look out that probably had great views but I just wasn't feeling up to walking up all those stairs.

There were lots of people around but it didn't feel crowded.

Of course when we see a market, we have to check it out.

There was a seafood vendor with these cool fish hanging all along their counter.

Love the stairs.

Ice pink latte - I just had to try it.

It was a shot of espresso with raspberry juice.
Sounds so odd but it was strangely really good.
Who knew those flavors would go together.

My Honey had his favorite - an espresso.

Pies & Treats -we're in!

They had so much to chose from.

I noticed this place had coconut curried chicken soup so I just had to try some.

It was really good.

My Honey got some soup too - he got caldo tlalpeno.

We also tried a couple empanadas, a beef one and a strawberry rhubarb one.
Neither one knocked my socks off.

There were plenty of seating areas in the market.

This was a nice, sunny spot so that's where we picked to sit.

There were giant sky lights running down the center of the market which was awesome.

There was this huge mosaic in the center of the floor.

There were two more floors full of shops.
We got a hat and a pair of shoes for Baby F at one of them.

Then we headed back outdoors to explore some more.

Cool mural.

There is Canada Place across the water and the ferry we come over on heading back that way.

My handsome Honey.

Selfie.

We walked along the water front as far as we could go.

It looks like and up and coming neighbourhood.

It would be a great place to be - lots of restaurants around.

I think sunshine always makes everything so beautiful.

There was a crane there I think as a piece of art.

A nice big splash park for the kiddos too.

We found some empty chairs and hung out for a bit.

This stroller thing looked awesome.

There were some very nice condos along the water front.

They had humongous wrap around balconies with spectacular views.
They are right on the water too so they don't have to worry about any one ever building in front of them.

Lots of beautiful flowers over here too.

I love daisies and I'm not sure if these actually are daisies but they remind of them except they have these awesome pink centers.
Gorgeous!

We left the waterfront and started walking up and down the streets and we came across some cool things like this brightly painted alley way.

This alley way had this cool sculpture piece.

There were chairs scattered here and there along the street and I noticed these blocks of wood under them which I realized upon further inspection, were actually bears.
So cool.

We walked all afternoon then by supper time were feeling a little hungry.
We were thinking of seafood maybe but ended up settling on this cool looking place.
Raglan's.

It had a really funky outdoor eating area and of course we opted to sit out there.

Have to take advantage of the sunshine as much as possible.

There were lots of good options on the menu.

They had a passionfruit drink on the menu so you know I had to get it.

We shared an order of nachos.
It was HUGE.
It was really good too.

As we were sitting there, I noticed the most people walking by with yoga mats that I've ever seen in my life.
They are really into their yoga here it seems.

After we ate, we hopped back on the Sea Bus.

And headed back downtown.

We decided to go check out a casino and had to get off at the Yaletown stop to get there.

We had a 10 minute walk from the stop but that's nothing to us.
It was a nice walk too, there were lots of flowers everywhere.

A nice little park.

It had a fountain in the center of it and lights strung back and forth among the trees.

Very pretty spot.

It felt like a nice area.

This restaurant here had individual deck areas for each table and it looked out over a nice park.

Not a bad view.
The trees are so pretty.

Cool building.

I love the color of this building.

We made it to the casino - it had this awesome bear statue out in front.

Even a little cub on the other side.

There was a card tower in the lobby of the casino - neat idea.

Neither of us did very well.
I lost $40 lickety split and wasn't too happy.
My Honey gave me another $20 and I started winning.
I cashed out at $40 so all said and done, I was only out $20 which made me feel better.

My Honey broke even too then on the way out, I saw another machine I wanted to try.
So we each took $10.00 and tried again.
I lost mine pretty much right away but My Honey swung for the fences with his last $5 and it worked out for him.
He won close to $500.00 with that one bet - so that was awesome!

We cashed out and left right away.

We caught the Sky Train back to the hotel and called it a night.

A laugh for the day.

Love seeing all that green.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
