Work Day, Run & A Movie (May 30, 2025)

Still evacuated!

I keep checking the fire status each day.

The wind changed and started blowing south but luckily the fire had moved far enough east that where is it moving south is past town.

The fire fighters are working really hard to keep it away from town and they are doing a good job - so thankful for them.

Even though we are evacuated and not expected to work, it is payroll week so I did login this morning and work on that.

I spent a couple hours doing that and then I tried to get caught up on some emails too so it won't be as overwhelming when I do get back.

I couldn't get all of payroll done so I will have to log in again on Monday morning to finish up if we aren't back to the office by then.

After I finished up work, I headed out for a run.

I like the happy face on the barn.

I did 7k all together.
I didn't run as much as I would have like because right before I hit the 5k mark, I had to go to the bathroom so I had to walk.

I did find one at the 6k mark so that was a relief and I ran the rest of the way home after that.

It was hot out so it was tough but it also felt good to do know that I did it.

After I got ready, I headed to Whitecourt to visit the kids.
Whitecourt was so good to all the Swan Hills evacuees and put on lots of different free activities for us.
The kids were busy doing one of them then they were going to Boston Pizza for supper which I'm not a huge fan of so I decided to go get a pedicure.

I needed it.

I went with a nice pink color for summer.

Then afterwards I met Kody, Haylee and the girls, Crystal & Zepplyn and Rob at the movie theater and we went to see the new Lilo & Stitch movie.

It was cute - I think the kids liked it.
Freya gets really emotional at movies just like my brother Rob used to do when he was little so there were a couple parts where she cried.

When my brother was little, he would cry at sad parts in movies like the part in the Cinderella cartoon where she comes down the stairs wearing the dress that the animals make for her then her wicked step sisters rip it to shreds.
Rob just sobbed like his heart was broken.
It was so sweet and innocent - Mom's friend used to try to get her to take him to sad movies just so they could see it.
He'd do the same when he started hearing the clock ticking in the Peter Pan cartoon because he knew the alligator was coming.

Freya wanted to come back to the lake with me so after the movie, we drove back.
It was late when we got there, we only had a short time to see Jason then it was off to bed.

I did check on the fire status - it doesn't seem to have changed much which is good, they are holding it.

That is all for today, until next time, be happy!
