Bike Riding in Whitecourt (June 8, 2025)

Jason got up early and headed out for a run this morning then when he got back, I got ready and headed out.

Jason and Freya made breakfast together.

He told her to act like she didn't want to get her picture taken.

I did a combo of walking running and was about 6.44k in when Jason and Freya pulled up along the road and met me.

I felt good about that so even though I wasn't back at the house yet, called the run good.

They had attached a parachute to an egg and wanted to test it out to see if it worked.

We tried it a few times and it did end up working.

I still wanted to continue walking back home just to get some more steps in and Freya want to come with me so Jason went on home in the car.

We stopped at the town hill and did some rolling down it.
I only did it once - it felt a lot harder on this old body than it felt when I was younger.
Freya enjoyed it though and went up and down a few times.

Sitting on the hill.

Selfie time.

Toothy smile.

There is still what seems like one lone helicopter hauling loads of water over to fire - still working on putting out hotspots.

It was super windy out there today so there was a chance of them possibly flaring back up.

Water bomber still hard at work.

When we got back to the house, Crystal and Haylee showed up to pick up Freya - they were taking the girls to Canyon Creek beach for the day.
They invited us to come but we decided to take our bikes and go to Whitecourt instead and check out the trails.

We parked at the Forest Interpretive Center at the end of town and there were a bunch of different trails so we just picked one and headed out.

It was a nice trail but extremely hilly.
I had to get off my bike and push it up the hill twice.

We came to a fork in the road - which way to go?

The road had started out paved but turned to dirt after a couple km's which was fine.
We decided to go out into the residential area then biked down to rotary park and around the trails down there.
We ended up in this section of town near the high school that we'd never even been to before or even knew existed.
It was really nice.

We made our way over to Walmart and locked our bikes on the bike rack there.
There is a big giant hill that we had to go up to get back to the car and I knew there would be no way I could bike up it so we left the bikes there at Walmart and just walked back to the car.

It had turned into quite a nice day, hot, so we were good and sweaty when we got to the car.
We loved it though - it feels so good to get out and be active.

We took the car back down to Walmart, grabbed a few things and our bikes then stopped into Edo for supper before heading back home.

Freya was back from the beach and wanted to come spend the night so we went and got her.
We tried to get her to bed early because she was starting to act loopy like she does when she is tired.

She got this eye mask the day she & I were at the mall and she wanted to put it on to sleep.
It worked too because only minutes after she put it on, she was out like a light.

Morgan posted this cutie patootie picture of Whitney - so smiley - I love it!

That it all for today, until next time, be happy!
