Weigh In and Evacuation (May 26, 2025)

It's Monday so you know what that means - weigh in day!

I was 214.4 lbs.

 

That's down 3.2 lbs since last week and the lowest I've been for quite time so that felt really good.

I feel like I'm finally starting to make some progress.

The fire is still burning and it is only 8k away from town so we got an Evacuation Alert - basically just letting us know to be on alert to be ready to go in an hour in case of evacuation.

The wind was blowing North which was pushing the fire away so I wasn't overly concerned.

I went for a walk on my lunch hour and the trees are finally blooming in town.

We always seem to be later than every where else.

The lilacs are blooming too so I had to stop and smell them.

They bloom for such a short time but are so pretty when they do.

I did get a few things packed up after my walk just so I wouldn't be so rushed if we did happen to get evacuated then headed back to work.

Jason was on his way home from his parents today and around 4 pm, JRA told us that they had decided to close the highway to Kinuso - they were afraid the fire was going to jump the highway.

Jason would have been coming through that way so I had to call him and let him know - he had to turn and go another way which added a few more hours to his drive unfortunately.

Then around 6 or so, we did end up getting an evacuation order.

I was honestly surprised because it was so nice out, there wasn't any smoke or anything, I really didn't think we would be evacuated.

I called Jason to let him know.

He was still 2 hours away so I told him not to bother to head this way, we'd be gone by then, instead we planned to meet in Whitecourt where we'd booked a room for the night.

I loaded up the car with our stuff leaving the cats until last.

They hate driving.

I stopped by Kody and Haylee's to see how they were doing.

They were heading to Barrhead to Haylee's grandmothers.

Eden had on this little outfit that Freya used to wear and it looked so cute.

I love it when she has little pigtails - she just looks so darn cute.

They finished getting packed up and headed out and so did we.

I had checked with Morgan and she and Kalem were heading to his Mom's in Whitecourt.

Rob had been away at work but he got back just as we were leaving so he had time to pack up and head out, he went to Whitecourt as well.

Jason made it Whitecourt and went to find the pet he'd promised to buy Freya.

We got to the hotel and checked into our rooms, got the kitties settled.

We kept two of them in with us and Mom took 1 of them with her in her room.

We picked up a few things at Walmart that we'd need.

Then Jason and I went for a short walk before calling it a night.
