Hot Summer Days Are Here - But So Are Wildfires (May 25, 2025)

I woke up early and had myself a nice bubble bath before Freya got up.

I got a bit of work done on my blog this morning, not as much as I would have liked.

Alivia posted a picture of herself from her dance competition yesterday.
I love her costume - it's beautiful.
I wish I could have been there.

I wanted to get out for a run - my little sidekick insisted on coming with me.
So I likely won't get much of a run in but a walk will be just fine.

She was stylin!

We didn't make it that far before she started complaining of a belly ache and wanted to go home.
I convinced her to keep going to the park up the hill, said we could rest there for a bit before continuing on.
She ended up playing there.
She can swing across the swinging rings and the bars no problem, I can't even hang from one of them let alone go across the whole thing.

She still wanted to go home after that so I only got half of a walk in.

Back at the house, she wanted to do my hair.
I'd put two braids in and then just wound them into a bun - she undid that and did her own style of bun.

Looks like a pretty good messy bun.

Then she added an embellishment.
Ha ha.

She invited Zepplyn over then I took them both down to the park to meet Haylee, they were having a picnic there.
I went back home, got ready and went out for a walk.
I had wanted to run but it was noon by this point and pretty hot out so I nixed the run.
Still managed to walk 6k though.

I went to the office to get my computer glasses for blogging and on the way home noticed this smoke up the hill, just north west of town.

Looks like a pretty good fire burning - hopefully it doesn't head this way.

I called Jason and told him about it then went for a walk to the street behind me for a better view and sent him some pictures.

It's about 8k out of town.

It's closer to town than the one from when we got evacuated but this one is not coming this way, it is heading west.

It was so nice out today that I just didn't want to go inside.
I went for another little walk, then I drug out mom's lawn swing, got that set up.

Then I decided to go to the backyard and do some cleanup.
That took me a couple hours and I was filthy when I finished up.
Felt good to get it done though.

Meanwhile Jason was cooking in his clay oven again.
He got some bagels ready to go.

There they are cooking in the oven.

And the finished product.
They look so delicious.
I'm glad I'm not there because I'm trying to be very diligent with my eating and sticking to plan as much as possible.

My sister called to say that she'd accepted an offer on her house.
She had two offers over asking, one wanted a July 24 close and the other an August 15 close so she went with that one.
She's super excited and so am I to have her out here and close so we can hang more.
I hope the boys change their minds and come too but we'll see.

Freya called and asked if she could come over so I went and picked her up.
Then I made myself some tuna on romaine lettuce for supper and she wanted to try it.
She actually liked it to.

After I took her back home, I noticed that she'd made some videos of herself eating.
This is her trying the tuna on lettuce.
I called it 'Wanna hear my crunch'?

She just cracks me up.

Then she was onto her spicy noodles which she just loves.
She's like a little YouTuber - I love it.

We called and were talking to Jason - he is coming home tomorrow and said he'd stop and get her something on the way so for her to go on Amazon and pick something that she wanted,
This is what she picked.

I took her back home at 9.

I was kind of checking on the wildfire status all throughout the day - it is showing as out of control but when I was taking Freya home that it looked significantly smaller.
There have been helicopters and water bombers dropping water on it all day and it looks like ground crews arrived there around supper time too.

I hope they get it out as soon as possible.

Anyway, I finished off the day with a solid number of steps, over 25,000!
I had a bit of a sunburn too.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
