Triple Good Deed Day!

Another beautiful day in the neighbourhood!

If I wasn't so dang tired, I might have got up and walked to work.
Alas, it was a no go - maybe next week.

Mr RA was the recipient of my good deed for today.
He was in the hall by his office talking and I walked right by him and put it on his desk, I don't think he noticed a thing!

Breakfast this morning was a toasted multigrain bagel with whipped chive cream cheese.
I think I gulped it down.

Then later in the morning I had this super soft croissant.
I could eat these by the dozens which is why I only picked up two yesterday.
I ate one yesterday and it was so good I wanted to make sure I enjoyed the other before it went stale.
Result - super carb filled morning but it was worth it.

Hadn't planned on going to golf course at lunch today but I needed to take out the Burger Love Special Posters so I made a quick trip.

Mr BN was having a Thanksgiving Burger.
Don't think he was able to eat the whole thing but he gave it a good try.

I ended up sharing a burger and fries with My Honey before heading back to the office.

Saw the resident groundhog as I was leaving.  I just about caught a good picture of him before he disappeared into the culvert.

Mr BN is headed on a two week vacation with his sister so I sent this with him to give to her,
I thought it could be my good deed for tomorrow.
Then it dawned on me that there is no rule saying I can't do more than one a day so tomorrow I'll just do another.
It really is a pile of fun and I am enjoying it immensely.

I sent her a little scratch ticket too - hope she is a big winner!

I was outside plucking dead flowers off my plant that is hanging in the tree out front after work when my son drove by.

I waved him in because I had picked up some treats for he and my brother.
I was going to drop them off randomly one day for a good deed but I just felt like spreading sunshine today so I gave them to him.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to head out to the golf course tonight or not.
I wanted to get a workout in but was really procrastinating on getting it done.
In fact, I was talking myself out of it - coming up with all kinds of reasons as to why it would be ok to miss it just one more day.

I was planning on going out to the golf course to visit My Honey but the weather wasn't that nice so I called out there to make sure he was still going to be out there.
Turns out they were super busy, he couldn't even come to the phone.

So I did get out of my work out after all.
I zipped out there right away to give them a hand, I think it was the busiest I've ever seen it.
Lots of folks came out to try the Thanksgiving Burger which was nice and I think it was a hit.

It was 9:30 by the time we left there so no work out again today.
We watched an episode of Face Off and an episode of Cosplay Melee then it was time for bed.

I was tired and it felt nice to cuddle up next to My Honey in bed and drift off to dreamland.

That's it for another day, until next time, be happy!

Dentist Visit, Again.

Woke up to another lovely day - now this is what summer is supposed to be like!

Mr BN was the recipient of my good deed for today.
I think he was happy to get them - he said they will be snacks for he and his sister when they go on their road trip to BC this weekend.

I had planned on working through lunch but had to go out to the bank to get paycheques for the staff at the golf course and then My Honey asked if I could pick up some ground beef for him at the grocery store so I figured I'd grab it while I was already out.

I couldn't let it sit in my vehicle all afternoon so I ran it out to the golf course and since I was going there, I called out and had My Honey cook me up some lunch.

I had an Elvis Burger ( a burger with bacon and peanut butter) and some fries with mayo to dip them in.
My Honey shared with me.

The debit machine stopped working while I was out there so I had to fiddle with it a bit to get it working again - finally did get it going though.
Technology is amazing but when it doesn't work, it sure puts a knot in things.

I left work a little early so I could head to WCT for a dentist appointment.

I feel like I'm getting to know the dentist so well, I've seen her so much recently.

She took the temporary crown off my back two teeth, cleaned them, took some cool looking 3D pictures with this new gadget and then put another temporary crown back on.

In two weeks I will be back again to get the actual crown put in and that should be it with dentist appointments for awhile.

I stopped at the golf course on my way back home so we could work on this weeks burger.
I had two ideas in mind - a Hawaiin Burger or a Thanksgiving Burger.
We wanted to do a coconut shrimp as a garnish on the Hawaiin but shrimp was 49.90/kg so I nixed that idea.

Instead I picked up maraschino cherries and shredded coconut.
I added the coconut to the corn dog batter we always have at the golf course and chopped up some cherries and mixed that in too.
I dropped spoonfuls into the deep fryer and made a sort of fritter.
I don't like those cherries so I didn't try it but My Honey and Miss SC said they were good.

In the end we decided on the Thanksgiving Burger though.
It has the burger, mashed potato, stuffing, turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce on it.
We also topped it with a little slice of apple pie left over from last night.
I had a quarter of one and I though it was delicious.

It ended up being a very busy night.

My hair dresser, Ms KS, dropped in for supper so I gave her a piece of apple pie on me to make up for missing my appointment with her last week.
I still can't believe that I did that.

Wednesday is couples golf night and we recently started having Wing Wednesdays so it was nice to see lots of folks out.
However, it meant we were there late, it was after 10:30 when we got home so no work out for me again today.

I did manage to get over my 10,000 steps in though (barely) and almost would have got the 12 hours with more than 250 steps if it hadn't been for the hour I had to spend driving.

I watched the final episode of the season for Counting On before heading to bed.
I haven't been getting as much sleep as I am used to lately so am glad that after tomorrow it will be the weekend again.

Well that's it for another day in the life of April.

Until next time, be happy!

Terrific Tuesday

Woke up to sunshine this morning and boy does that ever make for a wonderful start to a day.
Didn't get up early enough to walk to work but I decided I would get a few walks in to the end of the lane today to make up for it a little.
I was determined to get in my 12 hours of 250+ steps.

Started off the morning with a good deed.
Today's treat was for Miss BK.

See how happy that sunshine pouring into my office makes me!

Walk number one for the day is in the books.
I never noticed how many daisies are growing along here until I actually walked beside them and I drive by them 4 times every single day!

There is tons of clover flowers too, not only are they pretty but they smell really nice too.

There are lots of these too - I used to think these were what my friend PP was referring to when she talked about Indian Paint Brushes but I've since learned that the nickname for these is foxtails.
Either way, they are quite pretty as well.

Had raspberries and grapes with my cottage cheese snack this morning.
The raspberries were on the tart side so I added a little sugar.
Perfect morning snack.

Lunch was leftover salad from last night with a chicken breast cut up into it and some of the leftover delicious salad dressing that My Honey made.
It was perfectamundo (I might have made that word up)!

After work I headed straight out to the golf course for mens night.
It wasn't busy as last week but it was still busy.

The supper special was Roast Beef, carrots, potatoes and apple pie.
I skipped the potatoes but had some carrots and roast beef with some of the fabulous horseradish sauce that Ms SV made to go with it.
I can hardly believe that I used to detest horse radish and refused to go near the stuff, what was I thinking?

I skipped the apple pie too and opted for the "failed" chocolate pie as Ms SV called it.
It wasn't a fail as far as I am concerned, I thought it hit the spot just perfectly.

It was around 9:30 by the time we left there.
I got home to a nice treat My Honey had picked up for me,

ICE CREAM!!!
He got me chocolate chip cookie dough and pistachio - yum yum.

We watched an episode of Cosplay Melee - I am still amazed at how talented the folks are on it!

As predicted, I didn't get to workout today but I did manage to get my 10,000 steps in and I got 250+ steps for all of the 12 hours.

That's it for today  - until next time, be happy!

Weigh In Day

So my weigh in today was like a crap shoot.
I really had no idea what I was going to get.
My eating has been off the rails but I did work out 4 days straight and I worked hard.

250.2 lbs.
That's a loss of 2.6 lsbs and I'll take it!

Todays "good deed".
I left some sour candies for a co-workers son.
I found out at the parade we were in together that he really liked them so when I saw them, they made me think of him.

I also did a good deed for myself today.
I picked up some nice smelling hand soap for the washroom at work.
We do have a dispenser there that gets filled but I don't like how it smells.

See how happy I am - I brought a smile to my own face today!

Snacks this morning were this combo I saw on a blog that I read - The Hungry Runner Girl.
She does grapes and cottage cheese and I just added the blackberries because I had them on hand.
It was a hit!

I also snacked on more grapes throughout the afternoon.
I had leftover pizza for lunch - that was a no brainer.
I was thinking about having it for supper too until I remembered that I had taken some chicken out the other day and needed to get it cooked.

I did up some dishes and cleaned the kitchen a bit right after work then I headed down to the treadmill.
I didn't really have a goal in mind for my workout - I just wanted to do what I could.

I did another 5K.
So proud.
I started running/jogging at a 3.0 and went right up to 4.0.
I couldn't sustain that speed for longer than a song though so I worked my way back down.
I didn't worry too much if I had to lower the speed in the middle of a song either, I was more interested in the endurance at this point than the speed.
This method seems to be working for me so I am going to keep at it.

Happy that todays workout is complete!

Professor Snuggles always comes down with me and hangs out in the basement while I am working out.

I thought my toe was feeling a little uncomfortable during my workout.
Guess this means its time to cut my toenails.

I got the Chicken into the oven and some baby potatoes too.
My Honey came home as I was cutting up some veggies for a salad so I had him make up my all time favorite salad dressing.

Just a simple mix of the following ingredients:
olive oil
white vinegar
mustard
honey
salt & pepper to taste.

I prefer this over any other dressing, ever, period!

Supper was both healthy and delicious.

All in all, it was a great day.
I was happy with my workout - I know I won't get one in tomorrow because it will be a super busy day but a rest day will do me good.

I didn't meet all the goals for today but just about.
I think this is the most steps I have completed in a day for a super long time so I am pleased.

That's it for today.

Until next time, be happy!

Monday 24 July 2017

Bagels, Pizza and More.

Boy this weather we've been getting is sure not July weather.

I had bagels, cream cheese and raspberry jam for breakfast.
It might seem like a strange combination but believe me it is delicious.

Professor Snuggle was feeling just as lazy as I was today.
I watched a couple episodes of The Crown this morning while intermittently working on my post about our Panama City trip back in February.
If I get that done today I will be super happy - I've been meaning to do it for months.

I wasn't sure what I could do for my good deed today - I didn't really leave the house so I was a bit stumped there.
Then I was looking at Facebook and came across some pictures a fellow in town posted.
He is a hobby photographer, he is ALWAYS taking pictures of everything and he does really nice work.
One picture he had posted really caught my eye so I told him how beautiful it was and how much I liked his work.
Hopefully that made him feel good.

I had another bagel for lunch, this time with turkey and lots of pickled stuff.
I popped outdoors to water my plants then I was back at the Panama post.
It took me all day to sort through pictures, upload them and then write up the details of what we did.

The temperature dropped this afternoon and it was suddenly freezing out.
I had to shut all the windows and curl up on the couch with a blanket to get warmed up.
I watched the last episode of The Crown.
Now I will have to wait for the new season to watch more.

I was really procrastinating on the whole work out.
Finally I bribed myself into it.
I promised myself that if I just did 20 minutes at a 3.0 then I could get off the treadmill and call it a day.

I ended up staying on much longer.
I kept telling myself one more song or maybe one more song.
Then I covered over the time (which helps hugely sometimes, stops me from watching the clock which makes the time tick by sooooo slowly) and just kept going.
Then I noticed I was close to reaching 10,000 steps on my Fitbit so I decided to keep going until I hit that.
Lo and behold, when I uncovered the time, I had finished 3.2 miles (5 km) and I was right around the 53 min mark.

I kept going until 57 minutes then I did a 3 minute cool down.
The highest speed I got to was 3.7 but I am slowly inching my way up.

As you can see I am so proud of myself.
The workouts that I get done when I really don't want to are the ones that I am most proud of.

My Honey got home while I was still working out and he got right into the business of pizza making.
He had made the dough 3 days ago so even though it was cold and rainy out, he wanted to get it made into pizzas.
This is the first pizza going into the oven.

And presto - a perfect pizza.

Only about 6 or 7 more to go.

Best pizza maker in the world (in my opinion), most handsome one too!

I had a couple slices for supper.

The finished product.
Lunch for us both for days!

Some more memories popped up on Facebook.
These are from The Taste of Edmonton in 2015.

Miss SV was there for her first time, think she enjoyed it.

It was the second or third time for My Honey and I.
Still liked it just as much.

Miss SV's grand daughter came with us too.
They came in the truck with us and she ended up getting sick but she was feeling a little better at this point.
I am glad she ended up being able to enjoy herself.
We ran into Miss BK, her hubby and her grand-daughter as well while we were there.

These came up too,
These are from a trip we made to Fort Saskatchewan in 2014.
It is just outside of Edmonton and we had no agenda, we were just on an adventure.
I have a thing for trees and I thought these ones were particularly beautiful.

Selfie with My Honey.

It was a super windy day.

My hair was blowing all over the place.

They had sheep just roaming around the grounds in town.

I guess instead of mowing the lawn, they let these sheep roam around and eat it.

My Honey made fast friends with them.
He was carrying a bag of food and I think they could smell it, they all flocked right to him.

I love it when we just go places and wander and find what we find.
They are some of our most memorable trips.

That's it for today.

Until next time, be happy!
