Happy Birthday to Me (April 12, 2025)

Freya had to be down at the venue to get ready for her dance at for 8 am so we took her to Haylee's room at 7 am so Haylee could do her hair and make up.

Jason had gotten up super early and went for a 21k run.

I walked over and met him at Starbucks for coffee when he finished then we walked down to the dance venue to see Freya dance at 9 am.

It was about a 15 minute walk so I got some steps in.

There is no photography or videoing of any kind allowed at the competition which is kind of crappy.

Freya was in the Hip Hop category.

They did really great and they were fun to watch.

Her group got silver medals.

Just another shot of her whole group and Miss V.

Posing out in the very bright sun with her medal.

There was a display of children's art in the Arden Center and the kids wanted to go in and look at them.
This one kind of caught my eye - it's very good.

This one stood out to Jason - its amazing.

Eden wasn't much interested in the artwork but she was having fun running around.

You can see all the art displays on the racks behind Freya.

Family picture.

It's so hard to get everyone looking at the same time.

Randy's niece was in town so she came to watch.

Posing in her new rubber boots.

They were all heading to try a new ramen place and we didn't really want to go.
So we walked back towards the hotel, ended up stopping at Socrates for some breakfast.

Jason.

Moi.
I had eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast.

I also had a side of fruit and it was really good, fresh fruit.

We went to a furniture store and had a look around at some of the beds.
I was kind of digging this one.

In case I ever decide to get it, it's called Havalance.

It had two different options for the headboard, a sleigh bed kind of one or a flatter one which I preferred.

I tested out this swivel rocker and I just loved it.
I really want one - I wasn't crazy about the color options so I'm going to keep looking but I think I'm going to get myself one.

I made myself an appointment for a facial as a birthday treat for myself so I took a 'before' picture just so I could compare and see if there was any difference afterwards.

One without my glasses too.

I went to Rain in the West Edmonton Mall.
I got myself a spa package here years ago for my birthday that included a facial and I really enjoyed it.
The lady checked my file and said it was 11 years ago that I came for that.
This is the waiting area - they were a little behind so they offered me some water while I waited.

This was the same room that I was in last time for my facial.

Excited to get started.

They did some different scrubs and peels, she took care of a few blackheads and then finished off with some nice lotion and I loved the whole experience.

The after look - not sure if I can really notice any change at all but I enjoyed it and I won't wait 11 years before I come back for another one.

We did a little shopping around the mall - didn't really buy anything.
Then we went for supper to this pizza place downtown that I've been wanting to try FN'ZA.

They had some really interesting combinations.

My Honey and I.

We ordered 3 small pizzas,

the Puebla.

 the Bison Pepperoni

and the Vandal.
This one was super interesting - arugula, pickled onions, quinoa, black beans and a beet aioli.
The flavors worked so well together - it was my favorite of the ones we ordered.

They were all fantastic and I can't wait to come back again and try some of the other flavors they have.
We went for a walk after we ate - it was a nice evening and I needed some steps.
We walked to the Starbucks and I got myself my second Matcha Lavender Cream cold brew of the day.
So Many Calories - but it is my birthday so I'm treating myself.

When we got back to the room, Zepplyn and Freya came right to our room to get us to take them to the pool.
Zepplyn brought me this card.

She gave me $5.00 - that was so sweet of her.

Freya brought me a gift she'd made me as well.

It was this letter she wrote to me and I quote
"and you smell like poop Jason, its not your birthday Jason, April is the nicest".
I love it.

We did take the kids down to the pool, Crystal joined us.
They headed back a bit earlier than us again and Freya came back to spend the night in our room again.

Jason picked the girls each up a sketch pad and some markers and Freya found it and got right to work.

She is so creative and such a great little artist.

These are some pictures that Crystal took today.
Freya and her cousin Makayla (not sure on the spelling for that).

Her Hip Hop pose.

Eden in the theater.

Sitting on the steps - love the leopard print.

Zepplyn and Freya.

They went to the Edmonton Zoo yesterday before we got to town.

Freya.

Eden - they didn't have a stroller for her and she walked around the whole zoo without having to be carried.

Found herself a little fort.

Having an ice cream treat.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
