Exploring Melbourne, Florida (Feb.28, 2025)

We woke up to a sunshiny day - God I love Florida!

Jason found a park with a trail for us to go for a run/walk.

He took off walking and I put on my headphone to listen to my book and started out walking.

I planned to do some running but I didn't.

A little snake slither across my path, by the time I got my phone out he'd already made it across the path and was nearly in the long grass.

Unfortunately I did not see any gopher turtles.
Bummer!

There was a nice lake/pond in the park.

Met up with Jason after he finished his run, we walked a bit more together then went for some breakfast.

Jason found a little Cuban place called Breakfast in Havana.

It was hoppin' in there - good sign!

Jason had beans, rice and pork.

I had a Cuban sandwich.
The food was really delicious.

We wanted to do some biking today so we found a bike rental place down near the beach.

Guess you can't park here 😄

We hopped on our bikes and headed out.
I love the pastel colors of the buildings.

We came across an ice cream spot about 15 minutes in to our bike ride so stopped for a treat.

They were really leaning into the cow theme.

There were other little characters too.

A vintage ride on horse.

They had TONS of flavors to choose from.

We kind of stood in the wrong line for a bit - you order at one window then pick up at the other and we just got behind some other people but they'd already ordered and were waiting for their orders - it was a few minutes before we realized that the order window was actually wide open.

I can't even remember what kind I had but it was good.

We sat and ate our ice cream.

There was a birthday party or something going on so there were a bunch of kids running around playing - they were having fun.

The beach is just on the other side of these buildings.

We rode for about an hour, it was just a residential area so it was kind of boring scenery but we enjoyed the biking itself.
We did come to a beach park and we stopped to have a break.

There were some pretty good waves going on today.

We did have our bathing suits and towels with us but we didn't get in the water.
It was nice enough to but I didn't want to get all salty and sweaty.

So we just sat and enjoyed the waves and the sunshine for a bit.

Jason even had a little nap.

Look at all the shells.
I kept seeing people stopping and searching through them and I was curious about what they were looking for - never did figure it out.

I did some more bird watching.
I find them very entertaining.

After our rest, we still had a couple hours left with the bikes so we hopped back on and went in another direction over a bridge.

That's the bridge we just bike over, it was a little hard but I did it.
The bikes we had were really nice bikes, they drove really smoothly.

We did some more bird watching.

I think pelicans are so cool.

This bird was just sitting on the railing by this guy - I thought he was there because the guy was fishing but then I noticed that it had a line or something tied to it's leg so maybe it was a pet?

Heading back to drop off the bikes - we really enjoyed them.

We wanted pizza for supper and Jason found us a spot in downtown Melbourne.

Mister O1

We first got seated outside but it was quite windy so we asked if we could move inside.

It was nice - it had a big open kitchen.

We shared a salad.

They do this star pizza here with ricotta cheese stuffed points so we had to try that.
The crust was nice and thin - I really liked it.

We also tried one with prosciutto and basil - also very delicious.

Then we just walked around the downtown area.
We came across this store that had lots of really interesting looking things but it was closed unfortunately.

There were so many interesting things.

I wish we could have went inside.

The more we looked the more we saw.

The doll in the cage.

Lots of creepy stuff mixed in with girly stuff.

Very creepy lamp - this would be good for Halloween.

I loved this masked rabbit.

We came across a bakery that was open so we shared a chocolate tart.

And a snickerdoodle.
Yum yum.

The downtown area was nice and very walkable.

I love that a pink house fits in perfectly here.

After our walk, we headed back to the room - it was a great day of adventures and exploring - just what we love to do.

My aunt shared some oldie pictures - I always love seeing these.
It's my dad's family - he's in the center there with the brown sweater and glasses.
That's his father and mother right in front of him (my Meme & Pepe).
Such a great old picture.

Then this is my mother holding me as a baby, my aunt and my Meme.
Treasures.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
