Hello Palm Springs!! (Feb.28, 2028)

We wanted to be at the airport for 5 so we were up at 4 am, headed over and dropped off our vehicles at Park2Go by 4:30 ish then on the shuttle heading over to the airport by 5 am.

It was busy - the whole bus was full.

At the airport it didn't seem so bad, we checked in, dropped off our bags and went through security pretty quickly then when we went around the corner to go to security, there was a huge line up.

It's been a long time since we've seen that.

It took about 30 - 40 minutes to get through the line and we still had time to get some breakfast before we boarded our flight.

We left right on time at 7 am.

Jason took a few pictures as we were arriving in Palm Springs.

Look at the clear blue sky!

It was a 3.5 hour flight and I listened to my latest book, The Correspondent.
I finished it just as we were landing.
There were a few parts that made me cry - It was a good book, a good story.
I really enjoyed it.
Now to find another book.

Welcome to Palm Springs.

I love the open air airport.
The heat just hit us as soon as we walked outside and it felt amazing.

You actually have to walk through this section to get to the area where the luggage carousel is.

I love being somewhere new that we've never been before.

Jason went to the grab our luggage and I got in the line up at Alamo to get our car rental.

The guy that was working at the counter was great.
He was on the ball, multi-tasking, getting it done.
Normally they aren't like that so I was very impressed.

We booked a mid-size sedan, ended up getting a Nissan Altima.
I must be getting old because cars seem so low to the ground to me now and harder to get in and out of.

It was super hot so we both changed into shorts and lighter shirts in the car.
I'd also forgotten to buy an esim before we left Canada so I logged into the airport wifi before we left and got one there.
It seemed to be working but when we left the airport, I realized that it wasn't working.
So we kind of just drove around a little, didn't really know where to go.

Parked at a fast food parking lot to try to get it to work but it was a no go.
So Jason ended up just turning his cell data on for the day and he looked up a place for us to go grab a bite to eat.

We headed downtown Palm Springs and found a parking garage to park in.
I took a picture of the view and the street it was on in case we couldn't find it later.

I also took a picture of this restaurant that was next door and that was a great idea because that's how we ended up finding it again when we were trying to get back to the car.

The place Jason found for us to eat was called The Front Porch.
We had a hard time finding it, we actually walked right by it without even realizing.
We did end up finding it and just in time, a table became available right as we got there and then after we were seated, a line started building up.

Jason ordered the Avocado Toast.

Looks pretty darn good.

I ordered the Italian Sandwich.

It also looked really good.

It had salami, arugula and red onions - all things that I like.
We shared so we each had half of each sandwich.

The food was ok, the weather was amazing.

Jason

We passed a slice shop while we were searching for the Front Porch so we went back there and tried a couple slices of pizza.

We got an Elton John.

And a pepperoni slice.
The pizza was just ok - it could have been cooked a bit more, the dough was thicker and soft but very blond.

After we ate, we just walked around downtown Palm Springs, these are some of the things we saw.
Window full of key chains.

Painted benches everywhere.
I took pictures of some of the favorites that I saw.

Painted electrical box.

Random doll head on the sidewalk.
By the look on her face she's enjoying the sun very much.

Marilyn mural.

Blinged up doll head on a snail body.
Weird but cool.

We stopped at a little coffee shop and it had this great seating area in the back.

Big random statue in the garden seating area.

We sat and drank our drinks and soaked up some sunshine.

It was so pretty.

There was all kinds of seating scattered around.

Such a beautiful spot.

These monkeys in the trees were so cute.

These flowers growing up the gate were gorgeous.

This bench had a little rubber duckie.
So cute.

This was the entrance to some shops.

Pretty fancy.

Mural on a building.

This bench was floaties in a pool.

I just liked the tree.

Bumble bee bench.

There were a bunch of these signs that said "Palm Springs Canada" all along the road.
Not sure why?

I love the look of this place.
So beautiful.

We walked around all afternoon and then around 4 we decided to head over to our hotel to check in.
The picture I took of the restaurant next to our parking garage came in handy - we got turned around and the way we thought the car was, ended up being totally the wrong way.

Our hotel was in a neighboring city, Desert Palm Springs.
It wasn't exactly what I was expecting but I did like the pool area in the courtyard.

The room is pretty bare bones but it is clean and spacious so that's what matters.

The sun was starting to set, I love how it is kind of yellow and pink along the edge of the mountains.

An even prettier picture of the sun setting.
The desert colors really are very pretty.

We both needed some steps so after we checked in we went out for a walk/run.
Walk for me, run for Jason.

I walked for about an hour - it got a little sketchy in some areas so I felt a bit uncomfortable and turned back.
All in all, I walked for about an hour though, got all the steps I needed.

Jason ran 10k so he went much further and saw a few cool things.

Mural.

After our walk/run, we asked the hotel clerks to recommend a local place to eat and they recommended this place, Delicias.

Yup.

This was on the bench by the front where we sat and waited for a table.
The place was crazy busy when we got there.

There was some live entertainment - they were good and the place was just packed and hopping.

It was a pretty big place inside.

We did eventually get seated.

I ordered the guacamole to start.

It had mango and feta in it which was s very nice addition.
The chips weren't very good.

I ordered the birria tacos.
They were very good.

Jason had enchiladas - they were just ok.

Afterward we went to a grocery store across from the hotel and they had this Dolly Parton chocolate pie.
We got some mochi then went back to the room and called it a night.

This memory popped up on my google today - Aww Freya and Papa.

Got all my steps in.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy!
