Heading Home Today (May 17, 2022)

Well our time in NYC has come to an end.

We had an early flight this morning, 9:30, so we figured if we left the hotel at 7 we'd be at the airport by 7:30 which should give us plenty of time.

We were downstairs a bit before 7 and asked the clerk to call a cab for us then went outside and waited.
And waited and waited.

By 7:30 there was still no cab in sight - Jason went back in and got the clerk to call the cab company.
Turns out there was a mix up with the address.

When the car did show up, the driver went in to talk to the clerk to get the address situation corrected, meanwhile, Jason & I were freaking out because we just wanted to get to the airport.

When we got there, there was a gigantic line up to get through security, I mean it went down the whole length of the airport.

It took about 45 minutes to get through so we were good.

Once we got through security, we looked for a spot to grab a quick take away breakfast - we didn't have time for a sit down restaurant.

We sat, unknowingly, in front of this cool feature in LaGuardia.

LaGuardia Airport - the airport has been renovated since we were last here and it is really beautiful.

More of the cool water feature at LaGuardia.

I do love NY and I'm already looking forward to our next trip.

Just waiting to board.

This place is like a well oiled machine.
I know when we land, our luggage is always on the carousel already when we get to it, we never have to wait.

One last look at the city.

Meanwhile back home, Kody, Haylee and Freya have all been staying at Haylee's grandma's (Rita) while Kody has been going to school and they celebrated Rita's birthday today.
We were hoping we'd see Freya when we got home but it sounds like they are spending the night there again tonight too.

These are some of the pictures that Jason took on the trip - he has such a good eye.

Purple blooming tree.

Awesome street art.

Another cool mural.

Sunset from Central Park.

Fountain at Central Park.

Statue in Flushing Meadows Park.

Grand Central Station.

Red and White pizza.

Streets of NYC.

When we landed in Edmonton, we picked up our vehicle, grabbed something to eat then headed home.
Once we got home, we didn't so much, we just chilled for the rest of the day.

I decided to take today as my rest day and I didn't even get my 13,000 steps.
I felt a little guilty about it but I think I needed it.
Back at it tomorrow.

That's all for today, until next time, be happy.
